OCI Migration: Oracle-Managed Migration Continues; Customer-Managed Migration Not Available Any Longer
One of Oracle's latest advancements, Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) is the foundation of Oracle's second generation cloud. OCI, a purpose-built, best-in-class platform for running enterprise applications, is engineered from the ground up to run mission-critical databases, workloads, and applications while providing end-to-end security. Oracle's data centers around the globe are standardizing on the new OCI architecture which will deliver even greater performance and reliability. There are a lot of EPM Cloud features that are available only in OCI. See Features Available only in OCI EPM Cloud Environments in Getting Started with Oracle Enterprise Performance Management Cloud for Administrators.
Oracle will migrate all Classic Commercial environments to OCI by the end of 2023 using monthly migration waves.
Oracle has sent notifications for Oracle-managed migrations specifying the migration schedule. Follow the instructions in the notification.
For customers whose environments were included in Wave 6 (June 2023 Migration Notification): The migration of application data and users from Classic to OCI environments and the DNS configuration change to route the existing Classic service URLs to OCI environments will occur in the 23.09 (September) monthly update. If you prefer not to have the migration take place in the 23.09 monthly update, please run the skipUpdate EPM Automate command to skip the 23.09 update.
- All Classic environments in the Amsterdam (EM2) Data Center must be migrated by Wave 6. If your environment in Amsterdam Data Center is scheduled to be migrated in Wave 6, you can skip the migration for up to one month only.
- If your environments are included in Wave 7 (July 2023 Migration Notification), you must already have received your OCI environments. You should go through the optional migration steps, which include setting up SSO and IP Allowlist, and testing based on your requirements. See these information sources:
- Oracle-Managed Migration in Oracle Enterprise Performance Management Cloud Operations Guide
- Tasks to Perform After Cloning Environments in Administering Migration for Oracle Enterprise Performance Management Cloud
- If your environments are included in Wave 8 (August 2023 Migration Notification), you will receive your OCI environments in September 2023. Because your OCI environments may be provisioned at different times, you may not receive notification emails for all the environments at the same time.
-
By Wave 8, you must have received notifications for all Classic Commercial environments that were not scheduled for migration in earlier waves or migrated through the Customer-Managed Migration option.
For Migration waves schedule information, see EPM Cloud Classic to OCI Migration Schedule in Oracle Enterprise Performance Management Cloud Operations Guide.
Oracle is no longer accepting any service request for Customer-Managed Migration, and expects all Customer-Managed Migrations to finish by these deadlines:
- Amsterdam (EM2) Data Center: Finish migration by the end of October 2023. Oracle will terminate Classic environments in the Amsterdam (EM2) Data Center in November 2023.
- All other data centers: Finish migration by the end of November 2023. Oracle will terminate Classic environments in other data centers in December 2023.
NOTE: At this time, the environments hosted in US-Gov and UK-Gov data centers are not eligible for migration to OCI.
Applies to: Account Reconciliation, Enterprise Data Management, Enterprise Profitability and Cost Management, Financial Consolidation and Close, FreeForm, Narrative Reporting, Planning, Planning Modules, Profitability and Cost Management, Tax Reporting
Business Benefit: OCI provides you a purpose-built, best-in-class platform that is engineered from the ground up to run mission-critical databases, workloads, and business processes while providing end-to-end security. This new architecture delivers greater performance and reliability, and a number of EPM Cloud features that are not available in Classic EPM Cloud.

Announcement: Data Management Feature Migration to Data Integration
The user interface pages listed in the table below are no longer available in Data Management, but are available in Data Integration. Data Integration is available from the Data Exchange card from the home screen in the Cloud EPM Business Process, and users can access these features in the current Cloud EPM update. Data Management is not going away – we are only moving a few features now that have 100% parity with Data Integration. Profitability and Cost Management customers are not affected by the migration and do not see a change in their Data Management user interface. REST APIs are not impacted by this change.

Data Integration is the next generation of the Data Management user interface, enabling users to easily build and manage Cloud EPM integrations. As feature parity between Data Integration and Data Management becomes complete, Data Management features will be turned off, and users will use the new Data Integration user interface instead.
This transition is gradual; future What's New documents will include information about the first set of planned changes as well as updates about additional changes planned for the future.
All Data Integration features discussed in this document are currently generally available in the Cloud EPM business processes.
Integration definitions built with Data Management are also visible in Data Integration, which enables an easy transition. (Data Integration is a new user interface on the Data Management data model and does not require migration of content from Data Management to Data Integration).
Please note that additional new integration features will only be included in Data Integration, and will not be back-ported to Data Management. Critical bug fixes and security fixes will still be made to Data Management until all features are fully migrated. In addition, all features from Data Management will be migrated to Data Integration with the exception of the following:
- The batch feature will be replaced by the new Pipeline feature. The Pipeline feature was available in the June (23.06) update.
- The Report Definition feature will not be migrated, only the Report Execution feature. Please note that Account Reconciliation, Financial Consolidation and Close, Planning and Tax Reporting provide a feature to report against the Data Integration relational tables using a custom SQL and a BI Publisher report template via Task Manager.
- The ability to create new Custom Applications in Data Management will no longer available, and customers should use the “Data Export to File” application type instead. (Existing integrations using a custom application will not be impacted.) See Custom Application in Data Management under EPM Cloud Platform in the Important Actions and Considerations section of this document.
For reference, please see the Data Integration guide available from the documentation library for your specific EPM business process. Select the desired business process, then Books, and then scroll down to the Administering Data Integration for Oracle Enterprise Performance Management Cloud documentation link.
Applies to: Account Reconciliation, Enterprise Profitability and Cost Management, Financial Consolidation and Close, FreeForm, Planning, Planning Modules, Tax Reporting
Business Benefit: Data Integration is the next generation of the Data Management user interface. It enables users to build and manage EPM Cloud integrations more easily.

- Reports
For example, the primary report builders in your organization might be non-administrative users. These users can create and modify reports. Now they can then use the Copy URL option to share reports with other users by providing them with a direct URL link. Sharing direct URLs is an easier and simpler approach than having other users log in, navigate to reports, and then search for the correct report.
To copy the unique URL for an EPM Cloud artifact, open the listing page for the artifact, click the Actions icon (...) next to the artifact, and then select Copy URL.
NOTE: Only users with access to the targeted artifact can perform actions on it.
Business Benefit: Allowing all users to use the Copy URL option to share a direct URL link to a report, dashboard, form, or infolet, provides a better user experience.

Business Benefit: Videos provide 3-5 minute overviews and step-by step instructions to perform tasks and achieve an outcome.
Exporting and Importing Individual Artifacts
Certain artifact values may now be migrated individually or in total by artifact instead of migrating the entire environment at once. Artifacts exported in this way may also be imported into an environment on a previous version. This will allow, for example, artifacts to be moved from Test to Production when Test has been upgraded before Production. For a complete list of the artifacts supported and whether they can be exported individually or in total by artifact please see the documentation.
Business Benefit: This feature enables Service Administrators to migrate individual artifacts across different environments, instead of a full environment export and import.

New Profile Property Purged Through Date
For Transaction Matching profiles that are integrated with Reconciliation Compliance, a new property called Purge Through Date is recorded when transactions are purged. The Purge Through Date is the latest period end date prior to which the transactions have been purged. Further validation has been added to prevent the unmatching or deletion of an in-transit match that can cause reconciliation balances to be recalculated for the period where previously matched transactions were purged. This is done by comparing the lowest Accounting Date of transactions involved in the match with the Purged Through Date. Purged Through Date, is displayed as part of the profile’s properties in the Matching dialog.
Business Benefit: This feature ensures that the integrity of reconciliations is maintained when matched transactions are purged.

The following comparison methods are available for Date and Timestamp data types:
- BeforeOrEqual
- AfterOrEqual
The following join methods are available for Boolean data types:
- And
- Or
Business Benefit: The additional methods and Null object can simplify expression logic resulting in quicker setup and easier maintenance.

Compare Profiles Using Different Hierarchies from Same Viewpoint
Compare profiles can be defined using two different hierarchies in the same viewpoint to facilitate recurring comparisons and reconciliation of those hierarchies. When creating a compare profile for a view, the same viewpoint can be selected for both the From Viewpoint and To Viewpoint. In the compare profile inspector, two different top nodes from that same viewpoint can be selected for the From Node and To Node of the compare. When the compare profile is run, a duplicate tab for the viewpoint is added to the view and displayed in the side by side layout.
Business Benefit: For a viewpoint which has multiple hierarchies with shared nodes that need to be aligned, a compare profile provides an easy way to compare those hierarchies on a repeated basis.

Configurable Severity for Custom Validations
Custom validations provide some severity options to control whether a business rule is enforced as a warning or error in each request workflow stage. Warning validations identify data issues to users but allow requests to proceed to the next stage. Error validations identify data issues and prevent the request from proceeding until resolved. A custom validation can also be ignored for a particular workflow stage.
Business Benefit: The configurable severity of a validation allows business rules to be deferred to a later workflow stage or to provide a warning but not restrict submission or approval of a request.

Application owners and service administrators can copy an application to create a new application of the same type with the same configuration as the original. When an application is copied, all metadata within the original application is copied to the new application including dimensions, data chains, validations, policies, and subscriptions. Viewpoints are copied for views in which the user is an Owner. Data is not copied but can be separately transferred across applications if necessary using an export/import process.
Business Benefit: Copying an application provides an efficient way to create a similar application instead of starting with a blank application.
Key Resources
- Copying Applications in Administering and Working with Oracle Enterprise Data Management Cloud
Copy an Extract Across Dimensions
Viewpoint extracts can be copied to a different dimension of the same application or to a different application of the same type. A Copy menu item is available in the Actions menu on the Extracts tab of the Dimension inspector to perform the copy.
Business Benefit: This feature allows for easy creation of multiple extracts across dimensions which use similar columns and formatting options but may have different filters.
Key Resources
- Creating, Copying, Promoting, and Deleting Extracts in Administering and Working with Oracle Enterprise Data Management Cloud
Custom Validations for Applications and Dimensions
Custom validations can be defined at the application or dimension level. In previous releases, custom validations were only defined at the node type or hierarchy set level. Validations for an application are configured in the Application inspector and validations for a dimension are configured in the Dimension inspector. When a request or viewpoint is validated, custom validations from all four levels (application, dimension, node type, hierarchy set) are run for each node.
Business Benefit: A business rule can be consistently enforced for an entire application or dimension without having to define the same validation for each node type or hierarchy set.
Key Resources
- Working with Custom Validations in Administering and Working with Oracle Enterprise Data Management Cloud
Exclude Moves Option for Incremental Extracts
When incremental extracts are configured to include Adds and Deletes, nodes which are moved in a hierarchy viewpoint are also included in the extract output because new relationships are added and old relationships are deleted. Incremental extracts now provide an option to Exclude Moves From Adds and Deletes. This extract option will not output records for nodes which are moved in a hierarchy viewpoint when only Adds and Deletes are included.
Business Benefit: Some incremental extracts for hierarchy viewpoints need to only include nodes which were added or deleted, but not moved.
Key Resources
- Specifying Incremental Options in Administering and Working with Oracle Enterprise Data Management Cloud
Generational Extracts for Viewpoints
Generational extracts enable hierarchy relationships to be output as separate extract columns instead of using a parent/child format. These extracts can output hierarchy relationships in separate columns ordered from top-down or bottom-up. Different properties can be extracted for bottom nodes vs. ancestor nodes. Repeat options can be configured to output a consistent number of columns for unbalanced hierarchies that have branches of varying depths.
Business Benefit: Downstream applications such as data marts/warehouses and certain user reports often need hierarchy information in a denormalized, generational format. This format allows for easy filtering and grouping of bottom level records based on ancestor column values.
Key Resources
- Understanding Extract Types in Administering and Working with Oracle Enterprise Data Management Cloud
Improved Column Reordering for Viewpoint Extracts
When editing viewpoint extracts, extract columns can be reordered in a drag and drop fashion. The drag and drop option is available in addition to the First/Up/Down/Last action menu items which were previously available.
Business Benefit: This feature provides a way to easily add a new extract column in a particular position or rearrange multiple columns in an extract.

Load and Download Node Type Permissions from/to Files
Permissions and data access for users and groups of a node type can be loaded from the file as an alternative to manual configuration in the Node Type inspector. Existing permissions and data access for a node type can be downloaded to a file to modify and reload or use for offline reference. The file format includes the permissions granted for each user/group as well as the node actions which can be performed and the properties which are displayed and editable.
Business Benefit: In situations where a large number of users are granted permissions and data access at the node type level, this feature enables a more efficient way to do that by loading the permission information from a file.
Key Resources
- Uploading and Downloading Permissions from a File in Administering and Working with Oracle Enterprise Data Management Cloud
LoadViewpoint EPM Automate Command
The new version of EPM Automate introduces the loadViewpoint command, which loads data into viewpoints of an Enterprise Data Management dimension. The viewpoint load can be run in Merge or Replace mode. The viewpoint load file can be a CSV, Excel (XLSX) or a ZIP file containing one CSV or XLSX file. Use the uploadFile command to upload the viewpoint load file to the staging area, and then the loadViewpoint command to load the data into Enterprise Data Management.
Business Benefit: This command facilitates the loading of data into viewpoints for an Enterprise Data Management dimension.

- Working with EPM Automate for Oracle Enterprise Performance Management Cloud:
Load Viewpoint in Replace Mode for Portion of Hierarchy Set
When loading a viewpoint in Replace mode, only the hierarchy relationships under the existing top nodes in the viewpoint are replaced. Relationships for other top nodes in the hiearchy set which are not in the current viewpoint remain as-is. In previous releases, relationships for the entire hierarchy set of a viewpoint were replaced during viewpoint load.
Business Benefit: With this enhancement, other viewpoints which share the same hierarchy set but use different top nodes are not negatively affected by the viewpoint load in Replace mode.

Manage Mappings for a Chart of Accounts Redesign
Enterprise Data Management provides several new configuration options to support a chart of accounts redesign initiative when transitioning from a legacy accounting system. These options include:
- A Legacy GL node type class is available to manage the chart of account values from the source general ledger system which need to be mapped to the new chart of accounts. Nodes in a Legacy GL node type have limited properties which cannot be customized and are not counted towards one’s subscription record count.
- Legacy GL nodes can be imported into their own application or loaded into an unbound dimension of the target application within Enterprise Data Management. From there, the Legacy GL nodes can be manually inserted into a mapping viewpoint or auto-inserted using a subscription request.
- Map bindings can be created for dimensions of a Financials Cloud General Ledger application to set up viewpoints used to manage the chart of accounts mappings as well as export or extract the mappings.
Business Benefit: Organizations who are redesigning their chart of accounts as part of migrating from a legacy system need a way to reconcile and map values from the source chart to their corresponding values in the target chart of accounts. Unless they plan to coexist these systems, legacy GL nodes are required primarily to map into the target cloud GL. With the introduction of the Legacy GL node type class, one no longer has to concern oneself with accounting for these nodes to map one’s transformation.

Notify Collaborators of Subscription Requests
For subscriptions which are configured with the Collaborate option, alternate assignees are invited as collaborators to the subscription requests. Email notifications are now sent to the collaborators to make them aware of the subscription requests so those users can contribute if necessary.
Business Benefit: In some cases, multiple contributors may need to be involved in a subscription request. This feature enables you to notify the collaborators immediately and allows them to respond in a more timely manner.

The Policy Execution Plan enables users to visualize the workflow policies and stages that are applicable to a given request. For draft requests, you can identify the policies which will be in effect once the request is submitted. For in-flight requests, the execution plan identifies the current stage along which policies have been fulfilled, are in progress, or will apply in a later stage. For closed requests, the plan includes the policies that were fulfilled or were incomplete. The policy execution plan is available from the Policies tab of the Request inspector.
Business Benefit: This feature enables users who submit requests to easily understand the workflow process necessary to complete a request. Data managers may use the policy plan to determine where a request is in the workflow process and which policies are remaining. Owners can use the plan to appropriately configure workflows for particular types of requests.

Private and Public Queries for Viewpoints
Queries for viewpoints can be saved to allow for reuse at a later time. Users with Participant (Read) access or greater can create Private queries for their own personal use. View owners with Data Manager permission or greater can promote a private query to a Public query to share the query with all users of the viewpoint. Saved queries can be run frequently and their results downloaded to a file for offline reference or sharing. Private and public queries can be modified, copied, and deleted as necessary.
Business Benefit: Saved queries enable users to perform recurring analyses on viewpoint data in fast and easy manner.
Key Resources
- Querying a Viewpoint in Administering and Working with Oracle Enterprise Data Management Cloud
The Enterprise Data Management REST API provides new endpoints for the following operations:
- Query a viewpoint and write the results to a file
- Compare viewpoints and write the results to a file
- Get extracts and update the connection details of an extract
For dimension exports to connected Financial Cloud General Ledger applications, the response for the Get Job Results API endpoint now includes additional information for any integration tasks performed after export.
Business Benefit: Queries and compares can be run in an automated fashion and the results sent to users for reporting purposes. Connection details for extracts can be updated by an automated process after importing a template in cases where the connection details should be different between the source and target environments. Integration tasks in Financials Cloud which are triggered from an Enterprise Data Management export process can be monitored by an external program.

Send Notifications for Invalid Policies and Subscriptions
Policies and subscriptions may become invalid in rare situations when users, groups, or nodes referenced in the policy/subscription are deleted. This may result in a policy with no users/groups, or a subscription with no assignee or a missing top node filter. Email notifications are sent to Owners and Metadata Managers when a request encounters an invalid policy or subscription. This allows them to edit the policy or subscription and resolve the configuration issue.
Business Benefit: In exceptional cases when a configuration change results in an invalid policy or subscription, this feature enables users to be notified so they can resolve the issue.

Skipped Rows and Downloaded Indicators for Request Attachments
Request attachments which resulted from a request item file load have additional indicators to identify the number of skipped rows and whether the attachment has been downloaded for review by a user. The Skipped Rows and Downloaded indicators are displayed on the Attachments tab in the Request Details pane of an open view. When a request has a file attachment with skipped rows, the submitting user of the request is directed to review the file to determine whether to take further action on the skipped rows.
Business Benefit: For requests where a file load has occurred via a subscription, there may be rows in the file which were skipped for various reasons. This feature provides warnings and indicators that enable the request assignee to identify request file attachments which should be reviewed.

Top Node Creation During Viewpoint Load
New top nodes are created when performing a load into a hierarchy viewpoint from a source file. In previous releases, the viewpoint load required top nodes to pre-exist in the viewpoint and would only load hierarchy relationships under those top nodes from the file. Top nodes are now created in the following scenarios:
- Initial load into an empty hierarchy viewpoint
- Adding a new top node to a viewpoint with one or more existing top nodes
Business Benefit: The creation of top nodes by the viewpoint load eliminates the need to predefine the top nodes in the viewpoint before the load.

A Policy Order can be configured for an approval, commit, or notification policy to control the order in which policies take effect in a particular workflow stage. This allows multiple policies for the same stage to be enforced in a certain order to ensure that specific users participate before other users. The policy execution plan for a request displays policies in effect and the order in which they will happen for each stage.
Business Benefit: This feature enables conditional policies or policies configured at different levels to occur in a certain order. For example, enrichment policies should take place before approval policies, or node type policies should be enforced before dimension policies.

Performance Substitution Variables
The OptimizeConcurrency, OptimizePelimCalculation, EnableYearlyConsol, ParallelCustomDimDSO, and ParallelCustomDimTranslation substitution variables can be enabled to improve performance.
OptimizeConcurrency = True
This substitution variable improves concurrency of the consolidation process by executing some of the calculations at the very beginning or at the end. The degree of improvement depends on the entity structure of a given customer. Customers with deeper entity hierarchies will benefit the most.
OptimizePelimCalculation= True
This substitution variable improves Partner Eliminations (PElim) performance. If there is a consolidation performance degradation when deploying a user-created “Partner Eliminations Configurable Consolidation Rule” that has an account re-direction, adding this variable can provide significant performance improvement.
EnableYearlyConsol = True
The EnableYearlyConsol substitution variable can be enabled to improve performance for multi-period consolidations in applications that use the Dense/Sparse Optimization option (where Period and Movement are the Dense dimensions).
This substitution variable is applicable if the application meets all of these conditions:
- The application uses the Dense/Sparse Optimization option (Period and Movement are Dense dimensions)
- You have two or more dirty periods, and two or more hierarchy levels
- The dirty entities are identical across periods
- Equity Pickup sequence is not enabled
ParallelCustomDimDSO = True
This substitution variable improves the performance of the consolidation process in applications with Dense/Sparse Optimization, where the Period and Movement dimensions are Dense dimensions. To see performance improvements, you should set this substitution variable to True.
ParallelCustomDimTranslation = True
This substitution variable can improve the performance of the consolidation process in applications with Dense/Sparse Optimization, where the Period and Movement dimensions are Dense dimensions. To see performance improvements, you should set this substitution variable to True. If any degradation is noticed, you should delete this variable.
Business Benefit: These substitution variables help in improving consolidation performance.
NOTE: The degree of performance improvement varies widely across different applications as it is purely driven by the application design and data distribution.

Enhanced Connected Planning with Sales Planning and Strategic Workforce Planning - New Application Types in Planning
Sales Planning and Strategic Workforce Planning are now available as application types in the EPM Enterprise Cloud Planning business process.
Sales Planning is a purpose-built application, which addresses specific functional needs for sales target quota and territory planning, advanced sales forecasting, and key account planning that covers sales and promotion planning. This solution helps automate the sales planning, forecasting, and reporting process and leverages emerging AI technologies to predict sales forecasts.
Strategic Workforce Planning is a purpose-built application, which addresses specific functional needs for full-time equivalent (FTE) supply and demand planning, skills assessment, and labor cost planning. This solution simplifies strategic workforce planning to align your people (employee) strategy with your business strategy to ensure you have the right people at the right cost to meet your business objectives.
Business Benefit: Previously, Sales Planning and Strategic Workforce Planning were available only as separate products---Oracle Sales Planning Cloud Service and Oracle Strategic Workforce Planning Cloud Service. With this change, these applications are now offered in EPM Enterprise Cloud licensing to enhance connected planning across Finance, Sales, HR, and other business functions.
EPM Enterprise Cloud licensing provides greater capabilities than Oracle Sales Planning Cloud Service and Oracle Strategic Workforce Planning Cloud Service: It offers the full complement of all EPM Business Processes: Planning (including Sales Planning and Strategic Workforce Planning), Financial Consolidation and Close, Account Reconciliation, Enterprise Data Management, Enterprise Profitability and Cost Management, Narrative Reporting, and Tax Reporting business processes.
Additionally, EPM Enterprise Cloud is available in the European Union Restricted Access Cloud Service for EPM, which is not available for Oracle Sales Planning Cloud Service or Oracle Strategic Workforce Planning Cloud Service now.
Steps to Enable
To create a Sales Planning or Strategic Workforce Planning application:
- From the EPM Enterprise Cloud Service landing page, click SELECT under Planning.
- Under Create a new application, click START.
- Enter an application name and description.
- From the Application Type list, select Sales Planning or Strategic Workforce Planning.
- Complete the steps in the wizard, and then click Create.
- From the Home page, click Application and then click Configure to enable and configure the application.
Tips And Considerations
- Sales Planning and Strategic Workforce Planning are available as application types in the EPM Enterprise Cloud Service Planning business process. They are not available in EPM Standard Cloud Service.

Key Resources
IPM Insights has been enhanced with the following new features:
- IPM Insights Analyzer view has a new option to highlight explainability for insights. You can also view historical data for prediction insights.
- You can now define impact magnitude thresholds by absolute value, not just by percentage.
- You can now define insights to analyze at the parent level for Period members, not just at the leaf level.
Highlighting Explainability in Analyzer View
To highlight explainability, in the Analyzer view for an insight, click to see additional details. For each insight type, you see details including metrics and methods used in the insight, making the information about the insight more prominent. You can also click Comments to enter your comments, for example to explain a variance to a colleague.
Additionally, for prediction insights, you have the option to view the historical data along with the prediction data. Click Show historical data (at the bottom of the Analyzer screen). The chart is updated to show historical data as well as future data.
Specifying Absolute Values for Impact Magnitude Thresholds
When configuring insights, administrators can now specify absolute values (rather than only percentage values) for the impact magnitude thresholds. When insights are displayed on the Insights dashboard, this setting categorizes insights into High, Medium, and Low groups based on the absolute value or percentage impact calculated for each insight. This helps planners focus attention on the insights that have more extreme variations.
Performing Insight Analysis at Parent Levels for Period Members
You can now define insights that analyze at the parent level for Period members. Previously, you could define analyses for Period members only at the leaf level. In IPM Configuration, on the Select Calendar page, for Future Data, you can now define Future Periods that are not at the leaf level. For example, if you have monthly data, you can perform the analysis at the quarterly level.
Business Benefit:
- Analyzer enhancements provide explainability, which provides planners more information about the insight and makes the information about the data point more prominent. The analysis is more transparent so you can trust the results. The historical data provided for prediction insights give you a more holistic view of the data.
- Impact Magnitude Thresholds help planners focus analysis on insights that have the highest priority and the most impact on the business. The ability to define the thresholds by absolute value or percentage provides more flexibility.
- Performing insight analysis at parent levels for Period members gives you more options for analysis. For example, now even if your planning data is monthly, you can perform the analysis on a quarterly basis.
Tips And Considerations
- For impact magnitude thresholds, when entering an absolute value for impact magnitude thresholds, the currency defined in the slice definition applies to the absolute value. If you have multiple currencies defined, you can’t apply an absolute value magnitude threshold; the option is not available.
- For performing analysis at parent levels, note that leaf level and middle level parent members are allowed. Top level parent members, anything directly below Period, are not supported.
- For Auto Predict, analysis must always be at the leaf level.

Ability to Manage Alias Tables in Planning Modules
When you enable a Planning module, alias tables are now loaded only for the default language. In previous releases, when you enabled a module, alias tables were loaded for twenty supported languages.
For new applications, after you enable a module, you can use a new option, Manage Seeded Alias Tables, to load alias tables for other languages.
For existing applications, you can remove alias tables for languages you don’t need.
To add or delete alias tables:
- From the Navigator, under Create and Manage, click Alias Tables.
- From the Actions menu, click Manage Seeded Alias Tables (available after you have enabled a module).
- Select the languages you want to load, or clear the selection for languages you want to delete and then click OK.
- After the languages load, refresh the cube.
Business Benefit: For new applications, alias tables are now loaded only for languages you actually use. For existing applications, you can now remove alias tables for languages you don’t need.
Tips And Considerations
- You can load up to 30 alias tables in Planning Modules.
- When you incrementally enable features or new modules, alias tables are loaded for your selected languages for any new members.
- If you’ve customized any labels in an alias table, those customizations are applied to any new members added when you incrementally enable features.
- As part of this enhancement, aliases for some members for certain languages have been added. If a module is updated in the future, these aliases will be loaded. If you have any custom members with the same alias this can cause a cube refresh error. Review the list of new aliases and make any changes as needed to your custom members.
- If you are importing a snapshot to 23.09 (or later) from a release earlier than 23.08, alias tables are created but they might be empty. To resolve this issue, use the Manage Seeded Alias Tables option to add aliases for the languages you want.

This session covers why users should be adopting the Redwood theme, customizations available within the theme (such as company logo), and the future plans around non-Redwood themes for Cloud EPM.
Effective during the first quarter of 2024 (subject to change, safe harbor applies), the Redwood Experience will offer a default Oracle theme and these two additional appearance options: Custom Light and Custom Dark. Appearances of all EPM Cloud environments that currently use the Redwood Experience will automatically be shifted to either the default Oracle theme or the Custom Dark theme based on currently deployed background appearance of these environments.
Environments that have not deployed Redwood Experience will not currently be impacted by this change. In an update planned for the second quarter of 2024, Oracle will automatically migrate these environments to use the Redwood Experience.

Future Deprecation of Native Mode Option for Smart View Ad Hoc Behavior Application Setting
Many applications on the Oracle EPM Cloud Platform still support Native Smart View Ad Hoc Behavior mode apart from the Standard mode.
Standard is the ad hoc mode upon which all enhancements in the EPM Cloud Platform are being delivered.
Oracle is planning to stop supporting Native mode within the next 6-12 months (March-September 2024 timeframe). Customers on Native mode are advised to convert the Smart View Ad Hoc Behavior application setting for their environments to Standard mode and test their use cases. Any gaps found should to be logged as an enhancement to the Standard mode. Enhancements should be logged in the Customer Connect EPM Platform idea Labs by end of November 2023, for Oracle to review.

Plan for the User Variables Dimension Column to Honor the Alias Setting in User Preferences
In a future update, the Dimension column on the User Variables page within User Preferences will honor the Alias Setting in User Preferences. So if an alias name is defined for a dimension, then the Dimension column on the User Variables page will show that dimension’s alias based on the alias table selected in User Preferences. If no alias is defined for the dimension, the dimension name will be displayed.

Removal of Support for Custom Application in Data Management
Starting with this update, custom target applications can no longer be added in Data Management. (Existing integrations that use a custom target application will not be impacted, and will still run without any changes.) This type of application was used to extract data from the EPM Cloud, and then the data was pushed into a flat file instead of being loaded to an EPM Cloud application. The custom application was superseded by the Data Export to File feature in an earlier update. The Data Export to File feature has enhanced functions and capabilities.
If you still have a custom target application, it is recommended that you use the Upgrade Custom Applications option to migrate your existing custom target application to a data export to file application. For more information, see Upgrade Custom Applications at: https://docs.oracle.com/en/cloud/saas/enterprise-performance-management-common/erpia/upgrade_custom_applications_100x438d5119.html.
The migration converts existing file formats from the custom target application to the file formats used in the data export to file option and retains all the existing setup. When the custom target application has been converted, you can run same integration as before. Data export file applications are available both in Data Management and Data Integration.

Calculation Manager Errors and Warnings Enforcement
In a future update, Calculation Manager will enforce the execution of the Errors & Warnings diagnostic tool for any rule being launched, validated, or deployed from it. If there are errors that result from this new process, Calculation Manager will not execute, validate, or deploy the rule. This new process will apply to all new applications once released. Existing applications will have a finite period of time to bypass this new process to allow you to modify the rules that violate the new Errors & Warnings diagnostic analysis. In all cases, existing rules that are already deployed will continue to run as-is without any change in behavior.
Applies to: Financial Consolidation and Close, FreeForm, Planning, Planning Modules, Tax Reporting
Change in Behavior for Grids Created from Groovy and REST APIs for ASO Cubes
In a future update, the suppression behavior for grids created via Groovy DataGridDefinitionBuilder and the exportdataslice REST API for ASO cubes will be made consistent with that of the run time data grids created using the Form Designer. Previously, if a grid was built for an ASO cube in Groovy or REST API, then the system used the NON EMPTY MDX clause to suppress missing rows when the suppressMissingBlocks flag was true. Now, when a grid is built for an ASO cube, it will use the NON EMPTY MDX clause when suppressMissingRows is true, and suppressMissingBlocks will be ignored. This means that ASO grids with suppressMissingRows true and suppressMissingBlocks false will now start using MDX. Likewise, ASO grids with suppressMissingRows false and suppressMissingBlocks true will no longer use MDX. Grids where the suppressMissingRows and suppressMissingBlocks flags had the same value will not be impacted. These changes may result in a change in behavior or performance for some ASO grids. If this happens and is undesirable, consider toggling the value of suppressMissingRows from the builder or the JSON payload in case of the REST API.

Purging of Audit Information
Since the March (23.03) update, audit records older than 365 days are automatically purged. Purged audit records are not stored or accessible. As a best practice, you may want to take a backup of historical audit data. To do this, select one of the following options:
-
Export: Select the Export option on the Actions menu from the Audit card by selecting the appropriate filters.
-
EPM Automate command: Use the exportAppAudit command. See exportAppAudit in Working with EPM Automate for Oracle Enterprise Performance Management Cloud.
-
EPM Automate script: Use the Windows or Linux scripts to automate the process of exporting and archiving application audit data to a local computer. See Automate the Archiving of Application Audit Records in Working with EPM Automate for Oracle Enterprise Performance Management Cloud.
Submit a service request if you encounter problems backing up historical audit data.

Report Import/Export to Excel: Font Installation Requirements for Text Boxes in Excel
Due to performance and rendering quality enhancements to Report text boxes when exported to Excel, Report text boxes may appear distorted or with overlapping text while importing or exporting to Excel when the fonts used within the text boxes are not installed on the client machine. To fix this, install the missing fonts used within the text boxes on the client machine.

FINANCIAL CONSOLIDATION AND CLOSE
Enterprise Journal Dimension Persistence
In a future update, all Enterprise Journal dimension attributes will persist their values once they are set in the Journal.
FCCS_Global Assumptions Member
As of the June (23.06) update, the FCCS_Global Assumptions member and its descendants (if any), from the Entity dimension are restricted member(s) for On Demand Rules. Financial Consolidation and Close users won’t be able to use the FCCS_Global Assumptions member and its descendants (if any) as Run Time Prompts (RTPs) while running On Demand Rules.
Future Updates to Ownership Management Locking / Unlocking
Currently there is a single Process Management Approval Unit for all instances of a shared entity. As a result, when data for one instance is Locked in Process Management, all instances are Locked. The same Locking logic will apply to Ownership Management. When data is locked for an Approval Unit POV, Ownership Management settings are also locked for the same Approval Unit POV. As noted above, this link from Process Management Locking / Unlocking to Ownership Management settings can be disabled using a Substitution Variable. Note that this ability to disable the link will be temporary.
When future updates to improve Organization-by-Period functionality are made available, there will be one Process Management Approval Unit for each instance of a shared entity rather than one Approval Unit for all instances. When this is first implemented, the same Locking / Unlocking logic will apply. When the Process Management Approval Unit is locked, then both data and Ownership Management settings will be Locked, but on an instance-by-instance basis for shared entities. At this point, the link between Approval Unit Locking / Unlocking and Ownership Management settings Locking / Unlocking will no longer be able to be disabled. This is to ensure that a change in Ownership settings cannot cause Locked data to be impacted.
A further update will then be implemented to provide a little more flexibility in Locking / Unlocking Ownership Management settings. These settings will be able to be Locked before the Process Management Approval Unit for the same POV is Locked. Ownership Management settings will only be able to be Unlocked if the matching Process Management Approval Unit is unlocked. This will allow users to work on updating data without worrying about ownership settings affecting their results. Again, the link and dependency between Locking / Unlocking data and Ownership Management settings will not be able to be disabled.
Substitution Variables
Substitution variables allow you to enable or disable new Financial Consolidation and Close features as needed. The following substitution variables are available:
- ReportingTransEPAEEA
When enabled, the FCCS_Entity Proportion Adj and FCCS_Entity Elimination Adj members are translated to Reporting Currency.
Starting in the October (23.10) update, the default value will be set to True, and this feature will be enabled by default.
- ExtendMovementScope
When enabled, the Movement members that are created outside of the FCCS_Movements hierarchy will be included in translation and consolidation calculations.
Starting in this update, the default value will be set to True, and this feature will be enabled by default.

Calculation Performance Regression for Same As Source Different Dimension Rules
To address a performance issue, potential Sources, Destinations, and Allocations statistics are temporarily disabled for Same-as-Source-Different-Dimension (SASDD) rules only. Calculation Statistics reports will print these statistics as 0.
Purging of Old Calculation Run Records
Each calculation rule execution logs several statistics about its execution that are used to populate the Calculation Statistics Report. For models with many rules, the volume of these statistics can accumulate quickly. To maintain responsiveness in the Calculation Analysis screen where calculation runs are viewed, Enterprise Profitability and Cost Management automatically purges old calculation run records and their associated statistics when the volume of runs or statistics grows to exceed certain thresholds. If you want to retain a longer history of calculation runs, it is best practice to frequently use the Export to Excel feature in the Calculation Analysis screen to archive calculation runs.
