Oracle Enterprise Performance Reporting Cloud, April Update
This document outlines announcements, new features, considerations and defects fixed in the upcoming Oracle Enterprise Performance Reporting Cloud update.
Announcements and New Features
We would like to inform you of the upcoming monthly update for your Cloud environments. We will apply the latest updates to your test environment on Friday, April 7, 2017 and to your production environment on Friday, April 21, 2017. The update will be applied during your scheduled daily maintenance window.
The Oracle Help Center that provides access to updated documentation will also be available on April 7, 2017.
Changing Maintenance Time to Accommodate Daylight Saving Time
In time zones that change based on daylight saving time, the daily maintenance time now accommodates the time change so that the maintenance process starts correctly at the time you set. However, to activate this fix, you must set the service maintenance time again even if you want to use the current maintenance start time. See Setting Daily Maintenance Time for detailed procedures.
Smart View for Office Release 11.1.2.5.700 and the Oracle Enterprise Performance Reporting extension update are now available. The Smart View release, together with the extension update, contains new features such as Microsoft PowerPoint for Embedded Content and Variables and it is dependent on upgrading to 11.1.2.5.700. The Smart View 11.1.2.5.700 Readme, available on the Help Center, contains a complete list of new features.
You must install Smart View for Office 11.1.2.5.700 and the Oracle Enterprise Performance Reporting extension update to ensure compatibility with the April 2017 EPM Cloud update features and to access the new functionalities. See “Setting Up Enterprise Performance Reporting Cloud in Smart View” in the Oracle® Smart View for Office User's guide for instructions.
Starting this update, you can configure single sign-on (SSO) access between Oracle Enterprise Performance Management Cloud and NetSuite. Configuring SSO requires you to configure SAML 2.0 between Oracle Cloud and NetSuite.
See “Configuring Single Sign-On” in Getting Started with Oracle Enterprise Performance Reporting Cloud for Administrators for information on configuring the SSO process to work with NetSuite.
Reference Files, Doclets, and Variables Are Now Supported in PowerPoint Report Packages
In addition to Word report packages, PowerPoint report packages can also now support the embedding of Reference files, Reference doclets, and Variables. You can insert a Reference file, Reference doclet, and Variable in a PowerPoint report package. See “Understanding Embedded Content – Doclet Authors” in the Author and Approve Doclets guide.
Author Phase Completion Is Now Autotmatic
The author phase is now automatically marked complete based on the status of the doclets – if all doclets have a completed status. The report package owner can also manually mark the author phase complete however; any outstanding incomplete doclets are also marked complete.
Restriction Removed for Closing Author Phase Prior to Starting a Review Phase
As a report package owner, you no longer have a requirement to first close the author phase prior to starting a review phase. The author and review phase can be concurrent.
Hyperlinks Are Now Supported in Review Instances and During a Preview of a Report Package
Hyperlinks from the Preview mode and in a review instance of the Review phase, for both internal and external links, are highlighted when you hover over the hyperlinks. You can add a comment to the hyperlink text in the review instance, and open or navigate to the hyperlink. In order to open the hyperlink you have to hover over the hyperlink and select Ctrl + Click. When selecting an internal hyperlink, you are taken to the location in the document within the same tab of your default browser. When selecting an external hyperlink, a new tab is opened in your browser and the external hyperlink is displayed.
Management Reporting Enhancements
Management Reporting has added the following feature enhancements:
- Profitability and Cost Management Cloud (PCMC) and Essbase Cloud added as supported data sources
- If Snap to Guide is enabled in the grid Action menu, report objects can be resized to the nearest guidelines.
- Row banding added for Manage Reporting reports
- Scatter and Bubble chart types
- Indent By Level added to cell properties
- Ability to set a default font for Management Reporting reports
- Dimension layout enables drag and drop for repositioning dimensions
- Ability to exclude display of attribute dimensions in POV added
See the Designing with Management Reporting guide for more information.
Be aware of the following consideration when working with the Library.
- For localized versions of EPRCS, you should not create “custom” folders spelled the same as a translated “system” folder. This is due to implications when opening the same localized version of EPRCS in English.
Be aware of the following considerations when working with Management Reporting.
- Custom fonts uploaded for management reporting are required to be installable fonts in order to be used in Microsoft Internet Explorer (IE.) If they are not installable then IE will not download the fonts and a different font is displayed in place. Chrome and Firefox do not require the font to be installable.
- In a Management Reporting grid member selector with an EPM Cloud data source, if 'Show in Hierarchy' is selected for a shared member, a 'member not found' error will be received before displaying the hierarchy location.
Be aware of the following considerations when working with Report Packages.
- Inactive report packages with available content will display an “undetermined content” icon. Once the source file has been refreshed, the proper available content type icon will be displayed.
- When you add embedded content that contains internal hyperlinks to a report package, if you select Download Preview to view the document, the hyperlinks within the embedded content do not open when clicked.
- When creating embedded content, if you use the horizontal text alignment format Center Across Selection in Excel, the selection does not carry forward into the embedded content when the doclet is embedded in Word. The text remains within the original cell.
- When you insert a reference variable value that references a document that was created using Word 2007, a line break is inserted in the text, creating an extra line.
- If an Excel worksheet uses a double-line bottom border on the last row of a named range, an extra row appears in the embedded content within a consuming doclet.
- Do not use a double line bottom border in the last row of a named range, but select an alternative bottom border.
- Navigate to a cell that is below the named range, and add dummy text or a blank space. You can then upload and check in the reference doclet. When the embedded content is generated, the empty row is no longer included.
- Resize the row below the row that contains the double-line bottom border. You can keep the double line border in the last row intact, but resize the next row to be very small (but not hidden). Click any cell in the relevant row and choose Home, then Format, and then Row Height and enter a small value such as 2 or 3. The extra space is included in the embedded content, but it has a minimal impact.
- If the slide is created from a layout that contains placeholders for tables, charts, smart art or media files, those objects seem to disappear when uploaded to the service. The content is not lost. After downloading the files, a reset on the slide will cause the content to reappear.
- If the user enters a simple URL format (for example, www.oracle.com) within the Rich Text Editor, a service error will be displayed when the link is executed.
- When using an iPad with the Safari browser to preview a report package, Safari stops responding when you magnify the screen and tap preview.
- When downloading files using Safari 9, any spaces in the filename will appear as special characters.
- When performing a review of a PowerPoint report package using Safari, a service error is displayed if the user places the comment anchor in the blue area outside slide.
Workaround: To achieve the same visual layout, use Merge cells and Center align to align the text in the merge cell.
Workaround: If you encounter this issue, delete the extra line.
Workaround: To work around this issue, try one of the following options:
Workaround: To work around this issue, create the slide by adding the content directly to the slide rather than use a layout with place holders.
Workaround: If a user enters a fully qualified URL format (for example, http://www.oracle.com) within the Rich Text Editor, the URL link will open within a new browser tab.
Be aware of the following consideration when working with Smart View in general.
- A connection created in one language cannot be used if Smart View is changed to a different language.
Workaround: Create multiple private connections using the Add Connection Wizard. Before creating each connection, change the Smart View language display (in the Options dialog box, Advanced tab, Language drop-down list). Then, follow the instructions in “Using the Private Connection Wizard” in the Oracle Smart View for Office User's Guide.
Be aware of the following considerations when working with Smart View for ad hoc analysis.
- When users sign in to the service for the first time, they will be prompted to change the password. Oracle recommends that users sign in first to the web to change their password before connecting through Smart View.
- An error occurs if an EPRCS ad hoc grid that was saved using Smart View 11.1.2.5.600 is opened in Smart View 11.1.2.5.520.
