Oracle Financial Consolidation and Close Cloud, May Update

This guide outlines the announcements and fixed issues in the upcoming Oracle Financial Consolidation and Close Cloud update.

Announcements and New Features

Monthly Update Schedule

We would like to inform you of the upcoming monthly update for your Oracle Cloud environments. We will apply the latest updates to your test environment on Friday, May 5, 2017 and to your production environment on Friday, May 19, 2017. The update will be applied during your normal daily maintenance window.

The Oracle Help Center, which provides access to updated documentation, will also be available on May 5, 2017.

Enhanced User Experience

This release introduces enhancements to the user interface that provide a more intuitive and improved user experience. The enhancements affect Task Lists, Close Manager, Supplemental Data Manager, and common use of a filter bar across multiple EPM Cloud services. These changes are intended to provide you with quick, easy access.

New EPM Automate Utility Version

A new version of the EPM Automate Utility is available with this update. This version includes the following commands:

You must install this version of the utility to use the new command. See these sections in Working with EPM Automate for Oracle Enterprise Performance Management Cloud:

Move Net Income Hierarchy Under FCCS_Retained Earnings Current Hierarchy

The complete seeded Net Income Hierarchy has been moved under the Balance Sheet member “FCCS_Retained Earnings Current.” This will impact your existing data, rules and forms. After upgrading your application, you must run the “Migrate Net Income Data” configuration task. This migration task will be present for a couple of maintenance cycles but will be removed.  You are encouraged to run this migration as soon as possible. See the Oracle Financial Consolidation and Close Cloud Administrator’s Guide.

Apply Seeded Calculations to All Custom Members

Seeded calculations such as FCCS_Opening Balance are now applied for each custom member that contains data, instead of only for the Total custom member. See the Oracle Financial Consolidation and Close Cloud Administrator’s Guide.

Support for Close Management and Supplemental Data Management Extensions

Smart View now supports working directly with Close Manager tasks and schedules, as well as supplemental data. Users can view a list of their current tasks and submit and approve them from Smart View. To accomplish this, you install two new Smart View extensions, Close Management and Supplemental Data.

From the Downloads page of your service, install the Smart View Extension for Close and Supplemental Data Management. The two extensions are installed from this single installer. After installation, when you open Excel, you will see new ribbons labeled Close Tasks and Supplemental Data.

See Working with Oracle Financial Consolidation and Close Cloud for information on using these extensions. For instructions on installing the extensions, see Getting Started with Oracle Financial Consolidation and Close Cloud.

Enable Close Manager Integrations on Cloud

You can enable tasks to include integrations with external applications. Pre-built integrations are now provided for external applications. You can enable integrations from the Manage Applications feature as needed. See the Oracle Financial Consolidation and Close Cloud Administrator’s Guide.

Improved Supplemental Data Manager User Experience

Supplemental Data Manager usability has been improved. A new dashboard that allows you to filter and display Datasets has been added. You can also select and sort columns, view summary totals, and save and restore lists. In addition, data entry forms have been enhanced and a Workflow list has been added. See the Oracle Financial Consolidation and Close Cloud User’s Guide.

Be aware of the following considerations:

Removal of Support

File-Based Integration of Data Management with Oracle Fusion Financials Cloud

Oracle Fusion Financial Cloud Budgetary Control and Encumbrance Accounting is now fully integrated with Data Management.

This enhancement brings the integration of Oracle Fusion Financials Cloud with Oracle Enterprise Performance Management Cloud on par with the current file-based integration. As a result, the file-based integration will be phased out starting the September update to the service.

If you are using file-based integration between Oracle Fusion Financials Cloud and Oracle Enterprise Performance Management Cloud, Oracle recommends that you adopt this new integration as soon as possible.

Defects Fixed

When you use the Prior function in combination with dimension reference attributes, forms now open without errors.

All user types can now change their Notification preferences, including applications that do not have consolidation enabled.

After a data load, values now display correctly in forms.

A report with members of "Text" data type now correctly displays those members when imported as a fully formatted report in Smart View.

In Smart View, when running business rules that were attached to a form where drop-down member selectors were enabled and used on any row dimensions, the members that were on the page were not used for the rule’s run-time prompts, possibly resulting in an error.

When you output an Excel report by selecting Smart View, Report Settings, Report, Import Workspace Document, the report now displays the correct data.

Special characters in Web Studio now display correctly in the Define Prompts dialog box.

Indent increase for "Each Generation By" are now recognized in Financial Reporting.

In Financial Reporting Web Studio, when changing the dimension layout of a grid that has a text function, the text function no longer shifts unexpectedly.

When inserting new rows in a grid in Financial Reporting Web Studio, the existing formulas now update correctly to show the correct rows.

Reports now show aliases when executed from the Batch Scheduler.

Business rules using an ASO cube with a formula that has specified the rounding digits will use the specified digits when the rule is launched from Calculation Manager or Financial Consolidation and Close.

The Clear Members import option now remains enabled after editing an Import Metadata job.

The last column in a form that has a member formula displays the calculated data, regardless of the cell’s height.

Right-click menu items now fully display for all cell heights.

The Sign Out menu displays when the browser language is set to Japanese, Korean, or Chinese using Chrome.

A business rule with runtime prompts, is set to Run on Save, and is launched with right-click from a simple form associated with a composite form runs successfully.

Data validations don’t support the form option Validate only for pages with existing blocks on forms containing dynamic sparse members on the row or column. Before, for such forms, when an approval unit was promoted or validated, the validation failed with a generic message. Now the message provides the dynamic member names and guidance on resolving the issue.

When the database receives data in an unexpected format or the database fails to process data, an exception error generated by the database is returned to the user.
