Oracle Financial Consolidation and Close Cloud, July Update
This guide outlines the announcements and fixed issues in the upcoming Oracle Financial Consolidation and Close Cloud update.
Announcements and New Features
Oracle will apply the latest updates to your test environment on Friday, July 7, 2017 and to your production environment on Friday, July 21, 2017. The update will be applied during your normal daily maintenance window.
The Oracle Help Center, which provides access to updated documentation, will also be available on July 7, 2017.
The Provisioning Report has been redesigned to include the number of unique users provisioned with Oracle Enterprise Performance Management Services roles. The report now identifies the total number of provisioned users.
Ability to Add Existing Cards, Clusters, Tabs, and Sub Tabs to Navigation Flows
While creating or editing your navigation flows, you can add existing cards, clusters, tabs, and sub tabs. To search for and add existing cards, clusters, tabs, and sub tabs, launch the Navigation Flow Designer (click Tools, and then click Navigation Flow). Create a new navigation flow or open an existing navigation flow to edit it. Click Add Existing Card/Cluster, and navigate to the card or cluster you want to add. Existing tabs and sub tabs can be selected for tabular cards by clicking the Add Existing Tab or Add Existing Sub Tabs option.
For more information, see “Designing Custom Navigation Flows” in the Administering guide for your EPM Cloud service.
In this update, Data Management now supports member names with commas when loading data to Oracle Financial Consolidation and Close Cloud.
Export a Grid Design in Financial Reporting Web Studio to Excel
Starting in this update, you can export a report's grid design information as it appears while viewing the grid in Financial Reporting Web Studio to Excel.
New Seeded Closing Balance Input Movement Member
A new seeded Closing Balance Input hierarchy has been added to the Movement dimension that allows the loading of a closing balance. New members include the FCCS_ClosingBalance_Input base member and the FCCS_ClosingBalance_Variance parent member. See the Movement Dimension section in the Oracle Financial Consolidation and Close Cloud Administrator’s Guide.
Ability to Create New Data Source Members Outside of Total Data Source
You can add new Data Source member hierarchies as siblings to the Total Data Source hierarchies. See the Data Source Dimension section in the Oracle Financial Consolidation and Close Cloud Administrator’s Guide.
You can copy data from a source POV to a destination POV. You can also clear data for selected entities from a specific Scenario, Year and period or range of periods. See “Copying Data” and “Clearing Data” in the Oracle Financial Consolidation and Close Cloud Administrator’s Guide.
Ability to Customize Evaluation Order for Dimensions
You can customize the Evaluation Order for dimensions. This enables you to specify which data type prevails when a data intersection has conflicting data types.
IMPORTANT NOTE: To modify the dimension Evaluation Order, do not use the Dimension Editor under the Navigator menu. You must modify the Evaluation Order only from the Application > Overview > Dimensions tab.
See “Setting Dimension Evaluation Order” in the Oracle Financial Consolidation and Close Cloud Administrator’s Guide.
The aliases of the seeded exchange rate Account members have changed as follows:
| Old Alias |
New Alias |
|---|---|
| Ending Rate |
Ending Rate input |
| Average Rate |

File-Based Integration of Data Management with Oracle Fusion Financials Cloud
Oracle Fusion Financial Cloud Budgetary Control and Encumbrance Accounting is now fully integrated with Data Management.
This enhancement brings the integration of Oracle Fusion Financials Cloud with Oracle Enterprise Performance Management Cloud on par with the current, out of the box, file-based integration. As a result, the file-based integration will be phased out starting the September update to the service.
If you are using file-based integration between Oracle Fusion Financials Cloud and Oracle Enterprise Performance Management Cloud, Oracle recommends that you adopt this new integration as soon as possible.

Adding New Data Source Hierarchy and Consolidation
Starting with this update, Financial Consolidation and Close Cloud provides the ability to create Data Source hierarchies outside of Total Data Source. After consolidation, data might not be displayed or aggregated to parent entities for these new data source members that are outside Total Data Source. However, you can create dynamic calc data source members with member formulas that are based on Data Source members in Total Data Source.
FCCS Amount Override and Rate Override Accounts
If your application does not have any historical accounts defined, there will be no shared members under the seeded FCCS_Amount Override and FCCS_Rate_Override Accounts, which results in errors when refreshing the database.
A workaround is to add placeholder accounts. Under FCCS_Balance Sheet add FCCS_AmountOverride_Placeholder_Account and/or add FCCS_RateOverride_Placeholder_Account. Assign the exchange rate of Historical Amount Override for FCCS_AmountOverride Placeholder Account and Historical Rate Override for FCCS_RateOverride Placeholder Account.
Copying Supplemental Detail Data
When you copy Supplemental Detail during the Copy Data process, you cannot select a Data Source member for the Target destination that was already selected as a Source member.
Editing Dates in a Data Collection Period
In a Data Collection Period in Supplemental Data, editing Start, End, and Close Dates may result in an error that the date is outside the valid range.
Entity Member Names/Aliases with ICP Property
When you create an Entity with the ICP property enabled, the maximum length of the member name is 76 characters instead of 80, to allow for the ICP suffix.
Be aware of the following considerations:
- You should not make metadata changes that result in the following:
- Changing a base member to which a journal has been posted into a parent member
- Deleting a member
If there are journals or Supplemental Data posted to those members, these changes can cause problems when accessing Journals or importing existing journals.
- When you use ad hoc grids in Smart View with Financial Consolidation and Close Cloud, do not add a root “Period” member on the grid. Make sure the root “Period” member is removed by either clicking “Remove Only” or selecting periods that are in the application and selecting “Keep Only”. If a Period member is left on the grid, then any changes to data that you make will fail to properly set the impact status of the Entities.
Users Are Unable to Access Folders and Reports
Because of some security changes made to Financial Reporting objects introduced in the 17.04 update, users who are granted the User predefined role in the service are no longer able to access Financial Reporting folders and reports.
Workaround: Sign in as a Service Administrator and assign the WORLD group to each affected report and folder. You assign the group by editing the current permissions of the report or folder. See My Oracle Support document 2262410.1 for detailed information.
