Field Service

Administration

Enhanced Support for Two-Part Postal Codes

When creating travel keys, there will be an additional option to use the 'first word and X characters' of the selected property. In this case, the first word along with the next 'X' characters will be used, where 'X' would be the value specified in the 'Length' field.

Multiple Travel Keys Based on Organizations

Administrators will now have the ability to configure multiple different travel keys for different Organizations. Organizations associated with different travel keys will learn travel statistics separately. This change will also be reflected in the Travel Statistics Report, Statistics APIs and all other areas of the application that use travel statistics.

Android and iOS Applications

Enhanced Font Size Support on Mobile Devices

With this update, the OFS application seamlessly integrates with the device's font size settings, ensuring a consistent and comfortable experience. This font size enhancement is compatible with the default operating systems on iOS and Android devices.

APIs

Download Content of Service Request Property Files

The feature introduces a new API method that provides the ability to download content from a file property related to a Service Request entity.

The method is similar to methods for retrieving file content from file properties of other entities (activity, inventory, resource or user). It allows integrated systems to access the actual file content that was uploaded when submitting a Service Request.

Late Start Mitigation in Activity Booking Process

When utilizing the availability-based booking approach, OFS incorporates a preventive measure to avoid booking activities into time slots where there is a predicted likelihood of starting the activity within the last 20% of the time slot. This measure is implemented to mitigate the higher chances of potential late starts.

With the introduction of the 23C release, integrated systems utilizing the "showBookingGrid" and "activityBookingOptions" API operations gain the capability to override this parameter value based on their specific business requirements. This enhancement allows for greater flexibility and customization in adapting the booking process to meet the unique needs of each organization using the integrated system.

New Metadata API for Standard Plugin Installation

  • A new Metadata API for standard plugin installation is now available.  This can be utilized to automate the installation of standard plugins such as "Debrief" and "Asset View"  as part of your business process.
  • Fusion Service configuration via Configuration | Applications page supports the automatic installation of the Debrief plugin.

Core Application

Dynamic Forms Launcher

The dynamic forms launcher supports opening multiple forms from a single button or workflow step dynamically based on activity or inventory property data.

Enhanced management of Parts Catalogs

A new Parts Catalog screen is now available from the Configuration screen in Oracle Field Service to make it easier to configure and maintain all catalogs within one area. You can now assign each catalog to specific user types to ensure that users of those types have access to only the necessary catalogs. This allows you to define which catalogs are required for each user type.

Customers can easily configure and maintain all the parts catalogs. This functionality also enhances auditing and troubleshooting capabilities.

Enhancements in Map Service

This is applicable to the Oracle Map users only - 23C release provides an enhanced user interface, more frequent map and geocoding updates, and access to the 'Where is My Technician' functionality.

There are no changes in the Google Maps functionality. This enhancement is to improve user interface and to extend the available functionality to the Oracle Maps users who can now take advantage of Where is My Technician functionality that delivers a fully transparent view of service appointment details, technician location, real-time arrival estimates, and more.

Image Watermarks

Images captured in the field may be pre-configured to display a watermark overlaying the geolocation and date/time stamp indicating when and where the photo was taken.

Lock Activities to Particular Date/Time in Route

Activities may be locked to a specific date and time which will restrict routing plans from automatically rescheduling these activities.  Manual moves attempted within the application will trigger a warning message and result in the activity being flagged as in jeopardy.

Pre-defined Filter Date/Time Controls

Date and time pickers have been introduced within the Dispatch Console and Nearby Activity filters for pre-defined date/time properties.  This usability improvement will simplify data entry and help minimize manual errors.

Support of Date Ranges for Temporary Resource Location

Dispatchers can now specify the period for how long (several days, week, month, etc) technicians will work temporarily at another location. Specifying the Start and End dates for the temporary locations positively affects the scheduling process. Dispatchers no longer need to control and adjust this setting each day when technicians are working in another location.

Also, the Resource Info and Resource Locations screens have been redesigned to support the Redwood style.

Warning Message about Capacity Area Impact when Moving Org Units/Buckets

A warning message is now displayed when users attempt to move Organization Units or Buckets that are configured as capacity areas or contain a capacity area within them. This message explains the potential impact of the move, particularly if the destination resource or its parent bucket is configured as a capacity area within the Resource Tree.

Integration

OFS-HCM Accelerator enhancements

The Oracle Field Service-HCM Accelerator now supports the automatic updates of resource work skills from HCM to Field Service. This enhancement is designed to minimize the need of manual updates in two systems and ensures data accuracy.

Plugin Framework

Asset Details - A Comprehensive View of Assets in Field Service

The new Asset Details functionality offered via productized plugin ensures mobile resources have sufficient information on assets onsite to perform their work successfully and more efficiently. Asset information includes asset pictures, historical and upcoming maintenance orders, warranty and entitlements, asset notes and asset history. The same information is also available to the dispatchers.

The plugin is integrated with Oracle Supply Chain, which eliminates the need for development effort. Customers can also extend it via the Plugin Framework in case of any specific flows. The same plugin can also be integrated with the 3rd-party supply chain solutions

Camera support in Mobile Plugin Framework

The Mobile Plugin Framework now supports a new 'takePhoto' procedure that provides the ability for the user to use their device camera to get a picture into a plugin. This allows the user to open their camera, zoom the picture, add light to the potential picture using the flash, take a photo, and finally highlight some objects on the photo by drawing on it the same way it works within the activity details screen.
