OCI Migration: Oracle-Managed Migration Continues; Customer-Managed Migration Not Available Any Longer
One of Oracle's latest advancements, Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) is the foundation of Oracle's second generation cloud. OCI, a purpose-built, best-in-class platform for running enterprise applications, is engineered from the ground up to run mission-critical databases, workloads, and applications while providing end-to-end security. Oracle's data centers around the globe are standardizing on the new OCI architecture which will deliver even greater performance and reliability. There are a lot of EPM Cloud features that are available only in OCI. See Features Available only in OCI EPM Cloud Environments in Getting Started with Oracle Enterprise Performance Management Cloud for Administrators.
Oracle plans to migrate all Classic Commercial environments to OCI by the end of 2023 using monthly migration waves.
Oracle is sending notifications for Oracle-managed migrations. When your environments are scheduled for migration, you will get notification specifying the migration schedule. Follow the instructions in the notification.
For customers whose environments were included in Wave 5 (May 2023 Migration Notification): The migration of application data and users from Classic to OCI environments and the DNS configuration change to route the existing Classic service URLs to OCI environments will occur in the 23.08 (August) monthly update. If you prefer not to have the migration take place in the 23.08 monthly update, please run the skipUpdate EPM Automate command to skip the 23.08 update.
- All Classic environments in the Abu Dhabi (EM8) Data Center are scheduled to be migrated to OCI in Wave 4 during the 23.08 update even if you set skip update for the 23.08 monthly update. The resulting OCI environment will then have the same monthly update as the Classic environment; skip update will be active on this OCI environment.
- If your environments are included in Wave 6 (June 2023 Migration Notification), you must already have received your OCI environments. You should go through the optional migration steps, which include setting up SSO and IP Allowlist, and testing based on your requirements. See these information sources:
- Oracle-Managed Migration in Oracle Enterprise Performance Management Cloud Operations Guide
- Tasks to Perform After Cloning Environments in Administering Migration for Oracle Enterprise Performance Management Cloud
- If your environments are included in Wave 7 (July 2023 Migration Notification), you will receive your OCI environments in August 2023. Because your OCI environments may be provisioned at different times, you may not receive notification emails for all the environments at the same time.
- All Classic Commercial environments that are not yet scheduled for migration will be included in Wave 8. The notifications for Wave 8 will be sent on August 7, 2023.
For Migration waves schedule information, see EPM Cloud Classic to OCI Migration Schedule in Oracle Enterprise Performance Management Cloud Operations Guide.
Oracle is no longer accepting any service request for Customer-Managed Migration. If only some of your environments were migrated using Customer-Managed Migration, the remaining environments will be migrated using Oracle-Managed Migration.
NOTE: At this time, the environments hosted in US-Gov and UK-Gov data centers are not eligible for migration to OCI.
Business Benefit: OCI provides you a purpose-built, best-in-class platform that is engineered from the ground up to run mission-critical databases, workloads, and business processes while providing end-to-end security. This new architecture delivers greater performance and reliability, and a number of EPM Cloud features that are not available in Classic EPM Cloud.

Documentation on How to Synchronize EPM Cloud Users and IDCS Groups with Other IDCS Instances Using SCIM
The Getting Started with Oracle Enterprise Performance Management Cloud for Administrators guide now includes step-by-step instructions on how you can use System for Cross-domain Identity Management (SCIM) to synchronize EPM Cloud users and IDCS groups with other IDCS instances.
You can use SCIM to automatically synchronize EPM Cloud users and IDCS groups so that you do not need to duplicate users and groups defined in other IDCS instances. For example, you can use SCIM to synchronize EPM Cloud users and IDCS groups defined in your central IDCS instance. You can do the same to synchronize EPM Cloud users and IDCS groups between two different EPM Cloud environments that use different identity domains.
Business Benefit: Synchronization across different IDCS instances helps you unify EPM Cloud environments and reduces the administrative overhead to maintain user, group, and role assignments.
Steps to Enable

File Application Support in Data Integration
Customers can now register a file as a data source in the Applications option of Data Integration. Customers can optionally specify a drill URL for a custom drill.

Application Option to Register a File Application
Business Benefit: This feature allows a business user to easily import and register data from any file-based source by way of a file format, and requires limited technical help, if any, when loading into an EPM Cloud application. Additionally, customer can specify different file sources to logically group files based on content.

Announcement: Data Management Feature Migration to Data Integration
Starting with the September (23.09) update, the user interface pages listed in the table below will no longer be available in Data Management, but will be available in Data Integration. Data Integration is available now from the Data Exchange card from the home screen in the Cloud EPM Business Process, and users can access these features in the current Cloud EPM update. Data Management is not going away in 23.09 – we are only moving a few features now that have 100% parity with Data Integration. Profitability and Cost Management customers will not be affected by the migration and will see no change in their Data Management user interface. REST APIs are not impacted by this change.

Data Integration is the next generation of the Data Management user interface, enabling users to easily build and manage Cloud EPM integrations. As feature parity between Data Integration and Data Management becomes complete, Data Management features will be turned off, and users will use the new Data Integration user interface instead.
This transition will be gradual; future What's New documents will include information about the first set of planned changes as well as updates about additional changes planned for the future.
All Data Integration features discussed in this document are currently generally available in the Cloud EPM business processes.
Integration definitions built with Data Management are also visible in Data Integration, which enables an easy transition. (Data Integration is a new user interface on the Data Management data model and does not require migration of content from Data Management to Data Integration).
Please note that additional new integration features will only be included in Data Integration, and will not be back-ported to Data Management. Critical bug fixes and security fixes will still be made to Data Management until all features are fully migrated. In addition, all features from Data Management will be migrated to Data Integration with the exception of the following:
- The batch feature will be replaced by the new Pipeline feature. The Pipeline feature was available in the June (23.06) update.
- The Report Definition feature will not be migrated, only the Report Execution feature. Please note that Account Reconciliation and Financial Consolidation and Close provide a feature to report against the Data Integration relational tables using a custom SQL and a BI Publisher report template.
For reference, please see the Data Integration guide available from the documentation library for your specific EPM business process. Select the desired business process, then Books, and then scroll down to the Administering Data Integration for Oracle Enterprise Performance Management Cloud documentation link.
Business Benefit: Data Integration is the next generation of the Data Management user interface. It enables users to build and manage EPM Cloud integrations more easily.
Key Resources
In this update, new job types are available in the Pipeline:
- Clear Cube—Clear specific data within input and reporting cubes. The Clear Cube job type deletes the data you specify within input and reporting cubes, but it does not delete the application definition in the application's relational tables.
- EPM Platform Job—Execute various jobs supported by the “EPM Platform Jobs Framework” by providing the job name, job type, and parameters. Some jobs are expected to be defined in the corresponding EPM Cloud application, with some or all the required parameters saved within the job definition. For these job types, the parameters can be either provided within the job definition or overwritten at runtime. The parameters names should match the ones supported by the corresponding REST APIs. The remaining jobs can be triggered at runtime without a saved job definition.
Business Benefit: The Clear Cube job type enables customers to clear specific data within input and reporting cubes. The EPM Platform Job job type enables customers to execute jobs by providing the job name and type defined in the EPM Cloud business process for the job.
Key Resources
- In Administering Data Integration for Oracle Enterprise Performance Management Cloud, see:
- Additional EPM Platform Job Job Type information can be found at:
New Job Type in the Job Scheduler: Integration Pipeline
A new Integration Pipeline job type is now available in the job scheduler.
For EPM Cloud business processes that use Data Integration, the new Pipeline feature orchestrates a series of jobs as a single process. In addition, you can orchestrate EPM Cloud jobs across instances from one location. Using the Pipeline, you get better control and visibility of full extended data integration process of preprocessing, data loading, and post processing jobs.
For information about creating and running a Pipeline process, see Using the Pipeline in Administering Data Integration for Oracle Enterprise Performance Management Cloud.
After creating a Pipeline process in Data Integration, you can schedule an Integration Pipeline job. To schedule an Integration Pipeline job in your business process and select job parameters, from the Home page, click Application, then Jobs, and then click Schedule Jobs. Scroll to the end of the jobs list to select the Integration Pipeline job.
Business Benefit: Use the Integration Pipeline job type to add and execute or run integrations in the Pipeline extracting metadata and data from an Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) source system (a direct integration) or data from a file, and then pushing it to an Enterprise Performance Management (EPM) target application.

Display of Skip Update Requests
The Activity report has been updated to include information on skip update requests set for the environment.
The Activity Report generated after you set skip updates to an environment now indicates the monthly updates that will be skipped for the environment. Skip update requests are reported in the Operational Metrics table.

Operational Metrics
Business Benefit: The Skip Updates information helps you identify the monthly updates during which your environment is exempted from the monthly update cadence.
Report Generation Refreshes User and Role Information
Starting with this monthly update, generating the Role Assignment Report or the Provision Report results in updated user information being populated in Access Control screens and reports. For example, assign some users to predefined roles and then generate Role Assignment Report using the roleAssignmentReport EPM Automate command, the Role Assignment Report REST API, or using Access Control, the list of users shown in Access Control screens will reflect the most up-to-data information available in your identity domain, including new users and changes in role assignments. Additionally, data in Access Control will be refreshed to remove deactivated and deleted users.
Business Benefit: This change provides an easy way to get up-to-date user information in Access Control.
