Oracle will apply the latest updates to your test environment on Friday, August 4, 2017 and to your production environment on Friday, August 18, 2017. The update will be applied during your normal daily maintenance window.
Starting with this release, if users are assigned the User role and their Data Grant assignments give them read access to a data slice, then those users are able to edit data using Smart View for cells within that data slice.
To enable the new write capability for existing users assigned to the User role, perform the Repair Data Grants operation from the Application screen.
You now can edit Business, Attribute, and Point of View dimensions in the Dimension Management feature of Profitability and Cost Management Cloud. Available edits include adding child members, copying members, moving members under new parents, editing member properties, and deleting members.
While major updates are best accomplished using flat files, the ability to make small edits in a direct way is convenient for managing dimension changes after the initial build’s bulk load.
When setting user preferences, you can choose whether to show dimension aliases in the user interface. Now, you can select which alias table to use. For more information, see “Setting User Preferences” in Administering Oracle Profitability and Cost Management Cloud and Working with Oracle Profitability and Cost Management Cloud.
Data Management now has the option to include adjustment periods from an Oracle General Ledger source system in the Oracle Financials Cloud when loading balances to an EPM Cloud application.
Currently, Oracle Profitability and Cost Management Cloud supports only Private Connections with Smart View. For details, see “Accessing Smart View” in Chapter 2 of Getting Started with Oracle Profitability and Cost Management for Administrators and Getting Started with Oracle Profitability and Cost Management for Users.
Oracle Profitability and Cost Management Cloud does not allow special characters in artifact names, including calculation rules. If you are migrating an application from on-premise Profitability and Cost Management, you must remove any special characters from rule names before you perform the migration.
Smart View for Office 126.96.36.199.710 will be available by mid-August. This version fixes a number of defects. The Smart View 188.8.131.52.710 Readme, available on the Help Center at the time of release, contains a complete list of the defects addressed in this version.
You must install this version to ensure compatibility with the August 2017 update features and to access the new functionalities. See “Installing Clients” in Getting Started with Oracle Profitability and Cost Management for Administrators and Getting Started with Oracle Profitability and Cost Management for Users for instructions.
Oracle is committed to providing a simple and intuitive user experience. To achieve this, Financial Reporting Web Studio, available since March 2016, will become the only environment for designing and building reports.
Oracle is providing additional time for users to transition from Financial Reporting Desktop Studio to Financial Reporting Web Studio. Tentative plans call for functional parity between Financial Reporting Web Studio and Financial Reporting Desktop Studio in late 2017, at which time, support for the Desktop Studio will transition to the Web Studio and distribution of the Desktop Studio will cease.
Oracle recommends that you transition to using Financial Reporting Web Studio at the earliest opportunity. Please send questions and concerns to Oracle using the Provide Feedback option in the service.
