Alert Users That Requirements Have Changed

Managing requirements and managing modifications to requirements is a critical part of the product record so that you can substantiate and validate whether or not you can achieve the product intent. The relationship that exists between requirements or between requirements and items is specific to a revision. You can use the new Has Changed indicator to alert users that a newer version of a requirement exists. This indicator is visible between the following items:

Simplify Requirement Dependencies Into Relationship Summaries

Use a single, filterable view of the relationships summary table that includes requirement impacts and dependencies so that you can more quickly analyze and navigate across the different types of requirements.

Manage Requirement Specifications

Requirements for a new product concept often consist of multiple types of requirements that different stakeholders own, and that a hierarchical view displays. You can use new capabilities to author a requirement specification in the context of an existing higher level specification. Use improved linkage and traceability while a concept moves through the requirement definition process from ideas, to features, to product definition, and then to test specifications.

Get Quick Access to Requirement Approvals

Managing approvals of the requirement specification is a critical part of managing requirements. The requirement specification owner can use a new menu action to quickly determine the completeness of the required approvals.

View and Analyze Requirement Specifications

Use a view that displays your requirements specification table. Use it as a sand box to make sure your bill of requirements includes the correct level of detail. Use the following improvements to enrich your user experience when you interact in this view:

Get One-Stop Traceability Reporting

Maintaining the traceability reporting of requirement artifacts is a critical requirement in many industries. Export your requirements as HTML, XML, or CSV formats that support upstream processes or audit reviews. View custom Data Composer attributes in the export.

Manage Proposals

Improve Decision Making When You Evaluate Portfolios

Resource pools are often roughly estimated during the proposal process. It is often necessary to start a phase-gate project, allocate resource pools, and then manage development while a proposal moves forward into production. Innovation Management updates visibility to the proposal while it moves forward into commercialization. Improve the decision making that you perform during the process that evaluates a new or re-rationalization of a portfolio. Use a view that compares the resource pool plan to actual utilization, and filter it according to start dates and end dates.

Get More Proposal Information from Agile PLM Project Details

Innovation Management proposals now include more information from Agile PLM projects, such as start dates, end dates, and percent complete. Proposals include budgeted and actual costs according to type and duration, including estimate, schedule, and actual. Each portfolio owner can get details about the current project status to improve reprioritization decisions when projects exceed estimates.

A dashboard is a collection of the information summaries that allow you to monitor innovation management processes that are of greatest interest. Customize your dashboards so that they meet your requirements and provide quick drill down to accelerate resolution.

Use Innovation Management Analytics

Use targeted information and specify when and how you want to view it to facilitate good business decisions. Use a simple wizard to create, edit, or view reports. To allow product managers and product teams to gain business insight, your organizations can create reports according to user or role, and leverage portfolio, ideas, and requirement subject areas. Use a new proposal subject area that provides improved visibility so that you can model different views of the portfolio before or after you determine investments.

Oracle Fusion Product Development allows design and component engineers to effectively manage new product design, and to use development and release processes in the context of a product lifecycle. This solution provides a modern user interface in the Cloud that is optimized to create and manage development items and associated bills of material, structures, attributes, design documents, approved manufacturer lists, and change orders.

Use Draft Items in Structures

During the early phases of product development, the design engineer needs the flexibility to work quickly on the development structure and validate it before transferring the structure to downstream commercialization processes. Use new item structure rules to add an item that is in the Draft approval status and the Design lifecycle phase. You can add the item to the item structure of a parent assembly that is in the Production lifecycle phase. This flexibility allows the design engineer to expedite working on their structures, and can speed up the new product introduction process.

You can edit development items that do not require a formal workflow for a new item request. You can add these items to a change order so that you can do quick iterations and enrichment.

The approval status of the workflow for a new item request now displays so that you quickly assess progress.

Visualize the Workflow

Each state of the change order workflow allows you to visualize the multistep change definition and implementation process. You can select each workflow state to view details of the state, such as history or approvers. The state that you select now includes a blue border to improve visibility. The active workflow state fills with a different hue of blue to indicate the current state of the change order. These user interface modifications allow you to quickly scan and visualize the change workflow process.

Monitor Attachment Modifications

Associate an attachment with an item. You can now add change control to this attachment to make sure that you capture changes, track them, and implement them through a formal change order. Red lines indicate whether or not you are adding or removing an attachment to an item. Summary counts for change operations and information tiles now include attachment modifications so that design engineers can examine the total changes being processed through a change order.

Product Hub

Oracle Fusion Product Hub centralizes product data across heterogeneous systems so that it can create a blended product master record that is clean, standardized, accurate, and current. From products that you manufacture internally to finished goods that you source from suppliers, Product Hub enables you to aggregate, enrich, and share product data for various manufacturing and omni-channel commerce processes. Use robust business rules and workflows to make sure the data that you share across the enterprise is clean, complete, and valid.

Set Up Data

Use Files and Web Services to Upload Attribute Groups and Attributes

Significantly simplify and accelerate the data setup process by using a file to perform a mass upload of attribute groups and attributes. Use a single process to import attribute groups, attributes, and value sets. Leverage web services to upload the file and automatically run the loader. This will help you accelerate initial implementation and be more agile to adapt to changing product attribution requirements.

Consolidate Your Data

Use Import Maps to Assign Packs to Organizations

Use import maps to upload pack hierarchy from suppliers or internal systems and to automatically assign them to internal organizations, stores, warehouses, or fulfillment channels. Receive pack hierarchy information in CSV format from suppliers or in XML through the Global Data Synchronization Network (GDSN). Automatically import packs and assign each one to an organization or target market.

Streamline Pack Hierarchy Import

Use enhanced validations to streamline how you import a pack hierarchy with multiple branches. For example, an Each item can belong to Case 1 and Pallet 1, and also belong to a different pack configuration in Case 2 and Pallet 2. Use enhanced pack validations to make sure that the entire hierarchy will not fail if one of the branches does not pass the required validations.

Maintain Your Data

Use Flexible Keyword Search

Enhance productivity with greater flexibility and power when you search for items. Designate various item attributes, Global Trade Item Numbers (GTINs) and trading partner item relationships, such as manufacturer part numbers (MPNs), to participate in a keyword search in addition to basic item numbers and descriptions.

Use Rich Text Attributes

Maintain marketing information or any other rich text product data in attributes that you define. Use a rich text editor to apply format features including bold, underline, italic, or various other formatting options. Use your rich text attributes in your print catalogs and web channels to create an effective product marketing presentation and to drive superior customer experience.

Use Longer Character Attributes

Define and maintain character attributers that store up to 4000 characters. The previous limits of 150 characters for nontranslatable attributes and 1000 characters for translatable no longer apply, so you can improve how you maintain data of long character attributes and rich text attributes.

Use URL Attributes to Create Links to Data

To enrich product information, use a URL attribute to link data sheets, images, and other supporting data to a product. The URL that you enter for an attribute renders as a clickable link that opens the desired information in a new browser tab or window for easy viewing.

Govern Your Data

Quickly View Changes in Multirow Attributes

View the attribute values that changed in a multirow attribute group. Multirow attributes are highlighted with red lines in change orders (in the Item Changes view). A change order approver can clearly identify multirow attribute changes before approving or rejecting the change order.

Use Transactional Business Intelligence to Perform Analysis and Reporting on User-Defined Attributes

Use Oracle Transactional Business Intelligence to perform extensive, real-time analysis and reporting on your item attributes. Use subject areas that come predefined with important business entities, such as item revisions, structures, change orders, and new item requests, to gain additional visibility into important aspects of product information. Run scheduled or custom reports on item attributes that you define for your business. Create reports in various file formats and share them across the enterprise to improve business decisions.

Call Web Services From Product Rules

To improve data integrity, call an external web service that performs complex business rule validations or returns results according to custom functions. Call this web service from an item rule. Register an external web service and the credentials that you need to call it, and then reference it from a rule expression. To pervasively enforce validations, call the web service every time a user creates or updates an item.

Include Audit Trails For Setup Business Objects

Expand audits to setup metadata that includes attribute group and value set definitions. Gain insight into who changed what and when to establish accountability and improve governance. Export audit reports to Microsoft Excel and share them with relevant stakeholders across the enterprise.

Oracle Fusion Project Management provides the modern project management experience that you require to automate, streamline, and synchronize your new product development processes from ideation to commercialization. Each integration supports the product value chain and includes social collaboration so that your teams can increase productivity on the highest-value projects and accelerate delivery with greater success.

Accelerate Delivery of New Product Processes

Integrate with Innovation Management

Use the work item relationships that exist between Oracle Fusion Project Management and Oracle Fusion Innovation Management to manage a task to completion (according to the status of the Innovation Management objects). Use this automated task to maintain constant visibility to the current status of each task that is associated with a work item so you can manage the schedule.

Project visibility is bidirectional in Innovation Management. Concept owners, proposals, and requirement specifications can view the work item or task association from the corresponding relationship table, and with the task percent complete.

Integrate with Product Development

Use the work item relationships that exist between Oracle Fusion Product Development and Oracle Fusion Project Management to manage an item or change order task to completion. Automatically update visibility and task completion status while the item or change order status updates. Allow the project owner to view and effectively manage projects without becoming involved in activities that do not add value or in chasing down updates.
