Feature Summary

Column Definitions:

Report = New or modified, Oracle-delivered, ready to run reports.

UI or Process-Based: Small Scale = These UI or process-based features are typically comprised of minor field, validation, or program changes. Therefore, the potential impact to users is minimal.

UI or Process-Based: Larger Scale* = These UI or process-based features have more complex designs. Therefore, the potential impact to users is higher.

Features Delivered Disabled = Action is needed BEFORE these features can be used by END USERS. These features are delivered disabled and you choose if and when to enable them. For example, a) new or expanded BI subject areas need to first be incorporated into reports, b) Integration is required to utilize new web services, or c) features must be assigned to user roles before they can be accessed.

Ready for Use by End Users
(Feature Delivered Enabled)

Reports plus Small Scale UI or Process-Based new features will have minimal user impact after an update. Therefore, customer acceptance testing should focus on the Larger Scale UI or Process-Based* new features.

Customer Must Take Action before Use by End Users
(Feature Delivered Disabled)

Not disruptive as action is required to make these features ready to use. As you selectively choose to leverage, you set your test and roll out timing.

Absence Management

Absence Management

Oracle Absence Management is a configurable and flexible global solution that enables organizations to manage absences of their workforce. The framework provides ability to define both complex and diverse absence plans. It integrates with the Oracle Cloud Global Payroll and Time and Labor products and provides dedicated work areas for the roles of Administrator and Employees. Simplified user interface is provided for employees’ absence data entry.

Calculate and Post Accruals at Start of Repeating Period

While configuring an accrual absence plan, if you select the accrual method to be incremental, a new Accrue on option is now enabled. It has two options called Start of repeating period and End of repeating period.

If you select Start of repeating period option, the application will post the accrual at the beginning of the repeating period.

If you select End of repeating period option, the application will post the accrual at the end of the repeating period. This is currently the default value.

Your configuration of when the accrual plan accrues will be reflected in the Calculate Accruals and Balances absence process automatically.

You now have the option to configure absence plans to either accrue at the start of a repeating period or the end of a repeating period using a new Accrue on option.

Steps to Enable

You don't need to do anything to enable this feature.

Enhanced Message for Absence on a Scheduled Nonworking Day

Sometimes when a worker’s schedule changes, they might have a future absence that is now scheduled to start on a nonworking day.  If the absence type is not configured to allow absences to start on nonworking days, administrators must update the future absence before any new absences can be recorded. An enhanced error message has been delivered to help the administrator locate the absence in error. The message now displays the absence type and start date.

When an employee's the start date of a future scheduled absence falls on a nonworking day due to a schedule change and an administrator tries to enter an absence, the application displays an error message. This message has been enhanced to display the absence type and start date of the absence in error for the greater ease of the administrator.

Steps to Enable

You don't need to do anything to enable this feature.

Assignment Number Displayed With Business Title (Assignment Name)

The application now displays the assignment number along with the business title during an absence transaction. This is helpful for workers who have the same business title across different assignments because it enables them to differentiate between the assignments. It applies to the Redwood pages for absence entry, absence bidding, donations, and disbursements.

Assignment number displayed with assignment name in basic absence entry mode.

If you switch to the individual date records, you’ll see that each individual entry shows the assignment number and business title.

Assignment number displayed with assignment name in individual day record.

Differentiate between similar assignment names with the new enhancement that displays the assignment code also for employees with multiple assignments.

Steps to Enable

You don't need to do anything to enable this feature.

Availability API Rounding Options

The availability API has been enhanced to support a configuration option for returning values rounded up to 9 decimal positions. This allows consuming applications to have more control over when to round to a lower precision.

Get returning values rounded up to 9 decimals using the new enhanced availability API to allow consuming applications to have greater control.

Steps to Enable

To use this feature, you need to enable the ORA_HWM_DECIMAL_ROUNDING_LIMIT profile and set the desired decimal value.

Absence Duration Rounding Options

Absence Management has now introduced a new profile to control the rounding precision for absence duration and entitlement calculations. You can now round up to 9 decimal positions in Absence Management and allow payroll to round to a lower precision when processing the absence transactions.

To use this feature, you need to enable the ORA_HWM_DECIMAL_ROUNDING_LIMIT profile and set the desired decimal value.

Payroll Update Mode

The enhanced Update mode for payroll processing now supports all absence transactions including absences entered on the time card in Time and Labor. Previously, it was limited to just the absences entered using Cloud Absences. The changes you make on a time card are now automatically updated for the payroll interface.

You need to enable the time and absence integration to use this feature.

  5. Enter Y in the Profile Value field.
  6. Click Save and Close.

Payroll Calculation Card Enhancements to Evaluate Earned Date

Payroll integration with Absence Management is now enhanced to ensure proper payment for partial day absences which have shifts that cross midnight. For workers who have shifts that cross midnight, the parent calculation card in payroll for absence entries can now have an effective start date that is one day prior to the absence start date, provided the work day definition assigned to the worker is using the Start Day rule. Additionally, the effective end date of the parent calculation card can be one day later than the absence end date, if the work day definition assigned to the worker is using the End Day rule.

The new Payroll calculation card enhancements helps in evaluating proper earned date and ensure correct payment for absences which have shifts that cross midnight.

Steps to Enable

You don't need to do anything to enable this feature.

Payroll Integration Performance Improvements

Oracle Cloud Payroll and Absence Management have delivered a new internal API for transferring absence data to payroll. The new API no longer creates a cache for each absence record. This eliminates possible issues and improves performance.

NOTE: In Update 24B, the new API will be automatically enabled in all environments.

The new Redwood page for absence entry lets you experience Redwood’s high-fidelity interactions.
