Overview

HCM Cloud applications have two types of patches you can receive that are documented in this What’s New:

  • Release Updates (20A, 20B, 20C, and 20D)
  • Optional Monthly Maintenance Packs to each update

It is important for you to know what Release Update your environment is on. You can find this in your Cloud Portal.

This document outlines the information you need to know about new or improved functionality in Oracle HCM Cloud. Each section includes a brief description of the feature, the steps you need to take to enable or begin using the feature, any tips or considerations that you should keep in mind, and the resources available to help you.

In addition to this document you will also want to review the Oracle Human Capital Management Cloud Functional Known Issues and Maintenance Packs (Document ID 1554838.1). These documents identify bug fixes and possible known issues. You will also need to review these documents based in the release update version you are currently on or will be moving to.

Oracle HCM Cloud release documents are delivered in five functional groupings:

Suggested Reading for all HCM Products:

  • HCM Cloud Common Features (This document pertains to all HCM applications. It is the base human resource information for all products and HCM Tools.)
  • Global Human Resources Cloud (Global Human Resources contains the base application in which other application use for common data such as workforce structures and person information. Regardless of what products you have implemented you may want to see the new features for Global Human Resources that could impact your products.)

NOTE: Not all Global Human Resource features are available for Talent and Compensation products.

Optional Reading for HCM Products (Depending on what products are in your cloud service):

  • Talent Management Cloud (All Talent applications)
  • Workforce Rewards Cloud (Compensation, Benefits, Payroll and Global Payroll Interface)
  • Workforce Management Cloud (Absence Management and Time and Labor)

Additional Optional Reading:

  • Common Technologies and User Experience (This documents the common features across all Cloud applications and is not specific to HCM)

NOTE: All of these documents can be found in Release Readiness oracle.com/readiness under Human Capital Management or via the Oracle Help Center at: docs.oracle.com under Cloud Applications > Human Capital Management.

Feature Summary

Column Definitions:

Features Delivered Enabled

Report = New or modified, Oracle-delivered, ready to run reports.

UI or Process-Based: Small Scale = These UI or process-based features are typically comprised of minor field, validation, or program changes. Therefore, the potential impact to users is minimal.

UI or Process-Based: Larger Scale* = These UI or process-based features have more complex designs. Therefore, the potential impact to users is higher.

Features Delivered Disabled = Action is needed BEFORE these features can be used by END USERS. These features are delivered disabled and you choose if and when to enable them. For example, a) new or expanded BI subject areas need to first be incorporated into reports, b) Integration is required to utilize new web services, or c) features must be assigned to user roles before they can be accessed.

Ready for Use by End Users
(Features Delivered Enabled)

Reports plus Small Scale UI or Process-Based new features will have minimal user impact after an update. Therefore, customer acceptance testing should focus on the Larger Scale UI or Process-Based* new features.

Action is Needed BEFORE Use by End Users
(Features Delivered Disabled)

Not disruptive as action is required to make these features ready to use. As you selectively choose to leverage, you set your test and roll out timing.

Steps to Enable

You don't need to do anything to enable this feature.

Applications Security

Oracle Applications Security provides a single console where IT Security Managers and Administrators can perform various functions including user lifecycle management, role definition, security policy management(both functional and data), role hierarchy maintenance, username and password policy administration, and certificate management. The console also enables users to simulate the effect of security changes, to run security reports, and download a connector for integration with Microsoft Active Directory.

Application Security Redesigned User Experience

Increase user satisfaction with the redesigned pages that now have the same look and feel on desktop and mobile devices. These redesigned pages are both responsive and easy to use on any device, with a modern look and conversational language. Clutter-free pages, with clean lines and just the essential fields, can be personalized to suit.

Notifications Support in Role Delegation

Now when a role delegation is created, you can choose to send a notification that indicates a delegation was created. Introducing a notification upon creating a delegation notifies users that they have received a new access and may have new responsibilities.

When an employee (Delegator) creates a delegation (Self-Service), a notification is sent to the user defined as the Proxy (Delegate To). When an HR Administrator creates a delegation (On-Behalf of), a notification is sent to both the selected person on behalf of whom the delegation was created (Delegator), and the user defined as the Proxy (Delegate To).

You enable this feature by setting the delivered PER_USER_DELEGATION_SEND_NOTIFICATIONS profile option to Y.

Steps to Enable

In order to enable the delegation notifications, you must enable the following profile option and have enabled the HCM_RESPONSIVE_PAGES_ENABLED profile option. If you have not enabled the HCM_RESPONSIVE_PAGES_ENABLED profile option, please see following white paper: HCM Responsive User Experience Setup Information (Document ID 2399671.1).

NOTE: This step of enabling profile is for existing customers only. New customers starting with 19D or a later release do not need to setup these profiles, as the new responsive screens are delivered by default.

PER_USER_DELEGATION_SEND_NOTIFICATIONS

To enable the profile option, navigate to the Setup and Maintenance work area:

  1. Search for and click the Manage Administrator Profile Values task.
  2. Search for and select the profile option.
  3. Click to add a new Profile Value.
  4. Select the Level as Site.
  5. Enter a Y in the Profile Value field.
  6. Click Save and Close.

The default profile value is 0, which will not send notifications.

Tips And Considerations

This feature is for Responsive Role Delegation. Classic functionality remains the same.

HCM Security

HCM Security includes enhancements to person security profiles, new-person task flows, role mappings, the Retrieve Latest LDAP Changes process, predefined job and abstract roles, and security setup.

HCM Data Loader

HCM Data Loader provides a flexible and efficient method of bulk loading business object data for data-migration and on-going incremental updates to Oracle Human Capital Management Cloud.

New Business Objects Supported

Extend your data loading capabilities with support for these new Talent objects:

Business Object Description
Question Question on the Question Library.
Questionnaire Template A consolidated set of configuration options for different types of questionnaires. For example, questionnaire template for performance review feedback.
Questionnaire A set of questions used to gain insight from a person. A questionnaire is created from a questionnaire template. However, when bulk loading questionnaires you must define the sections, questions, and answers to include in the questionnaire as they are not copied or defaulted from the questionnaire template.

Additionally, the Candidate Job Application is extended to support the Candidate Preferred Location. This is the job location external candidates select when they submit a job application.

Steps to Enable

You don't need to do anything to enable this feature.

Integration Key Support for Bank and Bank Branch

You can now create and maintain your bank and bank branches using integration keys. This allows you to update the attributes that are usually used to identify the bank or branch to be updated, such as bank and branch name and number.

Both the Source Key and the Fusion GUID are available. These keys are more reliable as compared to the User Keys which are subjected to change at times.

Steps to Enable

You don't need to do anything to enable this feature.

Purge Extracts Archive Information

Identify the archive data and purge the redundant information that HCM Extracts generate. Purging redundant data frees up storage space and improves overall system performance.

Steps to Enable

Here’s how you can purge the redundant extracts archive information:

  1. Select and search Purge Extracts Archive Data job under Scheduled Processes to delete data generated by HCM Extracts runs. This data includes the associated payroll actions, object actions, and action information rows generated by extracts.

  2. In the Process Details page, define the criteria for the purge process by selecting the appropriate values for the process parameters.

Parameter Name Use To Values Default Value
Report Mode Define if the process generates a report of data to be purged or if the process actually purges the data

    Yes/No

    • Yes: Provides details of the archive data to be purged
    • No: Purges the archive data generated by the selected Extract List
    Yes
Extract List Select extracts for generating a report or purge the associated archive data Select a list of extracts from the available list N/A
  3. Click Submit.

  4. You can search for the job and check the completion status with any scheduled processes.

  5. If you execute the process in Report Mode, the output file provides a report including these details:

  •  Extract Definition Name
  •  Extract Type
  •  Archive data count
  • Storage recovered by the purge process
  1. Use the details in the report to identify data that you want to clean up from the system. Performing this action recovers storage and improves performance.

NOTE: You can run only one instance of this ESS job at any given time.

Role Information

To submit this ESS job, you need a role with the PAY_SUBMIT_PAYROLL_FLOW_PRIV function privilege.
