Enhancements to Approvals and Notifications
Take advantage of these enhancements that have been made to the Transaction Console.
- Improved messaging in the transaction detail page for faulted transactions.
- Scheduling purge policies for archived transactions in Approval Rules tab to improve performance.
- Data Cache Corrector that allows administrators to correct an attribute value or add or edit an XML node in transaction data cache to recover faulted or stuck transactions.
Improved Messaging for Faulted Transactions
The transaction detail page now shows more granular and specific issue description and resolution message for faulted transactions.
Purge Archived Transactions
You can now setup purge policies in the Transaction Console at individual business process level based on your company's data retention policies.
- In the Transaction Console, go to the Approval Rules tab.
- Locate the process for which you want to set up a purge policy.
- In the Purge Transactions column, select a time when the archived transaction for that process should be purged. By default, each process has been setup to not purge the archived transactions.
- Repeat the steps for all business processes for which you want to setup a purge policy.

Purge Transactions Column
The following pre-defined purge time periods are available.

Pre-defined Purge Time Periods
You can also add user-defined purge periods by adding new lookup codes under the extensible lookup type ORA_HRC_TXN_PURGE_PERIOD_TYPES. Make sure that the following format is used while defining the lookup code.
- HRC_TXN_<nn>_MONTH
- HRC_TXN_<nn>_MONTHS
- HRC_TXN_<nn>_YEAR
- HRC_TXN_<nn>_YEARS
For example:
- Define the lookup code as HRC_TXN_1_MONTH to add a 1-month period.
- Define the lookup code as HRX_TXN_10_YEARS to add a 10-year period.

Defining a User-Defined Purge Period
You then need to submit the scheduled process Purge Archived Transactions to purge all the transactions that were archived prior to the time selected in the purge policy.
Data Cache Corrector
You can now edit a corrupted data cache of a stuck transaction without having to terminate and recreate the transaction. The new Data Cache Corrector feature eliminates the need for a patch fix or a data fix script for the transactions that have been stuck due to the corrupted data cache.
- In the Transaction Summary tab, locate the row of the stuck transaction for which you want to edit the data cache.
- Select the check box for that row.
- In the Actions menu, select Edit Data Cache.
- On the Correct Data Cache page, edit the data cache.
- Enter the path to the node that needs to be modified.
- The path is validated and the current value is displayed.
- Enter the new value.
- Click Edit Node to submit your changes.

Correct Data Cache Page
You could also use the Correct Data Cache page to add a new node:
- Enter the path to the node that needs to be added. The system recognizes that the node entered in the path is a new node.
- Enter the new value.
- Click Add Node to submit your changes.
.
Correct Data Cache Page to Add a Node
You could also discard previously made changes to the data cache to bring the transaction back to its original state.
- Locate the row of the transaction for which you previously modified the data cache.
- Select the check box for that row.
- In the Actions menu, select Edit Data Cache.
- Click Revert Data Cache Changes.
- Confirm to discard and bring the transaction back to its original state.

Correct Data Cache Page to Revert Data Cache Changes
NOTE: It's strongly recommended to use this feature only under the guidance of Oracle Support and be enabled only for such duration.
The purging of archived data provides the following benefits:
- Reduces the load on transaction store.
- Improves performance of transaction processing and querying transactional data in the application.
- Regular archive and purge helps to declutter and provide improved focus on the most recent and relevant data.
Steps to Enable
To use the Data Cache Corrector enhancement, you need to create the HCM_EDIT_DATA_CACHE_ENABLE profile option and set it to True.
To create the HCM_EDIT_DATA_CACHE_ENABLE profile option:

- Ensures accurate and consistent data by enforcing entry of the required fields for a specific process.
- Improves your user experience and reduces time spent setting up your solution by simplifying the personalization of HCM Cloud
- Streamlines your transactions and processes by allowing your users to save their work at any point of time and resume later where they left off.
Steps to Enable
You don't need to do anything to enable this feature.
Tips And Considerations
Required Regions
From this release onward:
- Users will get a warning message if they have configured sections as required in the Transaction Design Studio.
- Users will get a warning message if they have not visited the mandatory sections in employment flows.
Save and Save and Close
A point to note is that rules will be evaluated for each attribute for active rules in the Transaction Design Studio. If the same attribute is defined in multiple rule definitions, only the first in order of active rule attribute conditions are applied. For example, if you define:
- Rule 1: Generic rule where Save and Close is available unconditionally, but not Save.
- Rule 2: Save is available only for a specific legal employer
As a result, rule 1 is evaluated as the first rule in order of active rules and so the Save button won't be displayed for the legal employer selected in rule 2.
Key Resources
For additional information, see the following help topics in the Oracle Help Center:
- How You Personalize the Save and Save and Close Actions in the Toolbar > Responsive User Experience Setup in the Implementing Global Human Resources guide
- How You Configure Rules in the Transaction Design Studio > Responsive User Experience Setup in the Implementing Global Human Resources guide
Role And Privileges
You must be granted the Human Capital Management Application Administrator role to enable a sandbox.
HCM Data Loader provides a flexible and efficient method of bulk loading business object data for data-migration and on-going incremental updates to Oracle Human Capital Management Cloud.
Restrict Bulk-Loading of Security Related Data
You can now control which job roles can bulk-load security related data by restricting access to these HCM Data Loader business objects:
- User
- Delegated Role
- Role Mapping
- Exclusion Rule
- Legislative Data Group Security Profile
- Organization Security Profile
- Country Security Profile
- Position Security Profile
- Document Type Security Profile
- Areas of Responsibility
- Job Requisition Security Profile
A new function security privilege Load HCM Security Data must be granted to job roles used to bulk-load data using these objects. The privilege is not granted to any predefined roles.
NOTE: This enhancement is initially delivered disabled as the Human Capital Management Integration Specialist job role isn't granted the Load HCM Security Data privilege. This predefined job role is often granted to users to provide access to HCM Data Loader and HCM Spreadsheet Data Loader. You will need to create custom job roles to provide the access to bulk load security related data.
Whilst the functionality is disabled, users loading data with these objects who haven't been granted the new privilege will receive a warning message. Valid data will continue to be loaded.
You can control which users can bulk-load security related data.
Steps to Enable
You'll need Setup and Maintenance access to enable this functionality:
- Navigate to the Configure HCM Data Loader task available in the HCM Data Loader functional area.
- Override the Restrict Access to Security Related Business Objects parameter.
You'll need access to Security Console to configure custom roles to bulk-load security related data:
- Create a custom job role to provide HCM Data Loader access. Do one of the following:
- Create a copy of the Human Capital Management Integration Specialist job role.
- Create or modify a custom job role and explicitly provide access to HCM Data Loader functionality.
- Assign the Load HCM Security Data (HRC_LOAD_HCM_SECURITY_DATA_PRIV) function security privilege to your custom job role.
- Assign the custom job role to the users who are responsible for bulk-loading security related data.
Tips And Considerations
Once enabled, you can't disable this feature.
The Human Capital Management Integration Specialist is a very powerful job role that provides access to many tools your users may not need. Therefore, it is recommended that you create custom job roles for providing access to HCM Data Loader and HCM Spreadsheet Data Loader.
This functionality will be enabled by default in release 23A, after which you won't be able to disable it.
Key Resources
Refer to the HCM Data Loader help guide, specifically the following topics:
- How You Enable Access to HCM Data Loader
- How You Enable Access to HCM Spreadsheet Data Loader Tasks
- HCM Data Loader Configuration Parameters
You can extend your data loading capabilities with these new and enhanced business objects:
NEW BUSINESS OBJECTS
Wellness
| Business Object | Description |
|---|---|
| Wellness Activity | Wellness activities performed by employees. You can only bulk-load activities that occurred in the last 10 days. |
| Wellness Goal | Corporate goals in which an employee can participate. For example, administrators can create a corporate goal with a daily target of 8000 steps for a specific date range, with an achievement rate of 80%. A reward can be associated with the corporate goal for anyone reaching the achievement rate. |
| Wellness Task | Tasks for employees to complete. For example, completing mandatory training. |
| Work Life Team | Teams for use within Wellness and Volunteering. Teams are used for goals, to achieve team targets and challenge other teams. |

Extend your bulk-loading capabilities with these new and extended objects available with HCM Data Loader and HCM Spreadsheet Data Loader.
Steps to Enable
You don't need to do anything to enable this feature.
Key Resources
- Use the View Business Objects task to review and download the latest business object information.
HCM Spreadsheet Data Loader provides a flexible and efficient method of bulk loading business object data for data-migration and on-going incremental updates to Oracle Human Capital Management Cloud.
Include Reconciliation and Reporting Information in Spreadsheet Uploads
You can now configure up to ten reference attributes in your HCM Spreadsheet Data Loader templates. Reference attributes can be defaulted from other attribute values, generated using groovy expressions, or manually specified during data entry.
Reconcile your data uploads within OTBI and HCM Extracts by including reference and reconciliation information in reference attributes.
Steps to Enable
- Navigate to My Client Groups > Data Exchange > Spreadsheet Templates
- Create a new template, or edit an existing template.
- Navigate to the Design tab.
- On the Selected Attributes panel toolbar, click the Add Reference Attribute icon (
). - Use the Reference choice list to specify which reference attribute you want to define.
- Provide a column heading and optionally a description. The description will be seen a column hint if the attribute is to be visible in the spreadsheet.
- Configure how the reference attribute is to be sourced and whether it will be visible on the generated spreadsheet.
- Save your changes.
Tips And Considerations
If you supply multiple spreadsheet rows to create a single object, ensure that the reference attribute values are identical across all rows for the same object. Reference values are only recorded against the single top-level record that defines the object.
Data stored in reference attributes is only held in the staging tables, it isn't passed to the application tables.
Configure Roll Back Access for HCM Spreadsheet Data Loader Templates
Configure which roles can initiate roll back in your bulk loading spreadsheets.
- Within the Spreadsheet Templates task, edit your template and navigate to the Assign Roles tab.
- Select the Roll Back checkbox to allow a role to initiate roll back of uploaded data from a spreadsheet.
NOTE: The Roll Back checkbox is only available for business objects that support roll back.
You can restrict the ability to roll back loaded data.
Steps to Enable
You don't need to do anything to enable this feature.
Tips And Considerations
The Roll Back button will always be available within generated spreadsheets. However, an attempt by an unauthorized user to roll back the loaded data will result in an error.
IMPORTANT Actions and Considerations for HCM Common
