Learning
Oracle Learning Cloud is a skill-driven learning platform that enables employees, teams and organizations to develop the most relevant set of skills. Oracle Learning combines informal and formal learning, from internal catalog and external learning sources into a single platform to provide learners with a single, unified learning experience.
Disable Reporting for Learning Items on Redwood Pages
You can now prevent learners from reporting concerns about any learning item across all these Redwood pages by disabling the Actions > Report menu option:
- Catalog Details
- Community Details
- Offering Details
- Enrollment Details
This enhancement lets you manage concerns about learning items through your learning department and outside Oracle Learning.
Steps to Enable
Enable the ORA_WLF_DISABLE_INCIDENT_REPORTING profile option by completing these steps in the Setup and Maintenance work area:
- Search for and click the Manage Administrator Profile Values task.
- Search for and select the ORA_WLF_DISABLE_INCIDENT_REPORTING profile option.
- In the Site level row, Profile Value field, select Y.
Tips And Considerations
This setting disables the Report action for all learning items on all the listed Redwood Oracle Learning details pages.
Improved Experience Launching Assigned Courses
You can launch courses assigned to you using fewer steps. Depending on the course and offering configuration, you can launch automatically into self-paced content. Or with fewer steps, you can select an offering and launch it.
Also, on the My Learning and enrollment details pages, the status indicator now shows Not Started instead of No Active Offering for your course assignments.
When launching an assigned course with a single self-paced offering from My Learning, the offering is automatically selected for you and the enrollment details page shows the offering activities. Also when the offering has a single online content activity, the eLearning player automatically launches. These changes let you launch into the course content from My Learning with a single click.
When launching an assigned course with one or more instructor-led or blending offerings or multiple self-paced offerings from My Learning, you'll see the available offerings directly on the enrollment details page. You don't have to navigate anywhere else.
The enrollment details page will now provide additional information to help you better select the best offering to begin you learning.
- What you'll learn: The Redwood enrollment details page now includes a concise course description, if the course configuration has it. You’ll also see a View More Details link that opens a panel drawer with the full course syllabus.
- Select an offering to complete this course: The page also features the available offerings section where you can conveniently select your desired offering.
If you need to provide additional input for the offering, the page prompts you to complete the next step.
- Request approval: If the offering requires approval, click the Request Approval button to start the approval process.
- Complete a form or questionnaire: If the offering includes a form or questionnaire that you need to complete before starting, you click the Complete Form button to view and complete the form or questionnaire.
- Join a waitlist: When the offering is at full capacity, you might have the option to click the Join Waitlist button. Doing so conveys your interest and you'll be notified if a seat becomes available.
- Can't begin: If the offering is full or there's no available offering, you'll see a message explaining that you can't start the learning yet and need to wait for an available offering.
This enhancement ensures a smoother learning experience.
Steps to Enable
You don't need to do anything to enable this feature.
Support for Healthcare EPIC Content
You can now deploy EPIC Healthcare content in your Oracle learning catalog using the Content Controller from Rustici Software.
This enhancement extends the external content that you can leverage in Oracle Learning.
Steps to Enable
You need to acquire a separate Rustici Content Controller license. For details, see Oracle Learning and EPIC Systems.

Learning
Learning
Oracle Learning Cloud is a skill-driven learning platform that enables employees, teams and organizations to develop the most relevant set of skills. Oracle Learning combines informal and formal learning, from internal catalog and external learning sources into a single platform to provide learners with a single, unified learning experience.
Learners
Related Skills and Qualifications
You can now add skills or qualifications to courses and specializations that make the learning discoverable during browsing and searching, but that won't update a learner's talent profile after they complete the learning. The Skills filter on the catalog search page now includes courses and specializations configured with a Skills Center skill, even if that skill isn't configured to update the learner's talent profile when completed. The Outcomes filter was renamed to Qualifications, and includes courses and specializations configured with competencies, certifications, languages, or any other talent profile content type that isn't a Skills Center skill.
The catalog details page now indicates whether the skills or qualifications covered by the course or specialization update the learner's talent profile. All skills or qualifications defined for the learning appear in the new Skills and Qualifications this learning covers section of the details page. The subsequent section lists the outcomes, which are the skills and qualifications that update the learner's talent profile after they complete the learning.
Recommendations generated for current role gaps, careers of interest gaps, skills I'm developing, and manager-assigned skills now include the courses and specializations configured with a related skill or qualification, as well as an outcome skill or qualification.
Administrators have a new Redwood experience for creating and managing the outcomes and prerequisites on courses and specializations. Add skills and qualifications on a single tab as instead of separate tabs for outcomes and prerequisites. At the top of the page is the skills river, which automatically suggests skills based on the learning title. If the suggestion is appropriate, you can add it as a covers skill by clicking the + icon on the chip. You can also add skills or qualifications using the Add menu button. By default they're added as a related skill or qualification, and you can choose to define them as an outcome that updates a learner's talent profiles after completion.
Here's how to make an added skill or qualification an outcome:
- Click the Edit icon after adding the skill using the skill river, or use the Add menu item which enters directly into edit mode.
- Select the Write to person profile on completion checkbox.
- Click Save.
You can also add prerequisites for this learning further down the page, using the Add button menu.
The Skills Advisor for Learning process was also updated to let you curate skills suggestions in bulk as either related or outcome skills using the Microsoft Excel workbook output.
Administrators now manage the skills and qualifications directly from the Definition tab, under Skills and Qualifications, by clicking the Manage link. You no longer need to edit the learning and go to the Outcomes or Prerequisites tab. If you can't edit the course or specialization, you won't be able to edit its skills or qualifications but can still view them.
This feature can make it easier for learners and managers to find relevant training by adding more Skills and Qualifications to Learning Outcomes, even if they aren't meant to be added to a learner's talent profile after completion.
Steps to Enable
You don't need to do anything to enable this feature.
Tips And Considerations
- Enable Dynamic Skills, if it isn't already enabled.
- Enabled the Redwood learning experience, if it isn't already enabled.
- All existing courses and specializations configured with learning outcomes remain unchanged, any new additions of skills or qualifications will be added by default as related ones that do not update the learner's talent profile on completion.
- The list of content sections that appear are the same as before and based on the talent profile content sections you have configured for the Learning Outcome subscriber.
Key Resources
For more information on Skills Advisor for Learning, see these topics in the Using Learning guide, in Oracle Help Center:
Enrollment Details Compact Header
You can now select between the existing enrollment details header layout or a new compact layout, for course and specialization assignments. The compact layout removes the cover art and includes up to 4 key assignment summary details in the page header. This change makes it easier for learners viewing the page to scan for key information instead of having to read through several banner messages.
Following the color coding from the My Learning page, the assignment status is always shown as a badge in the header next to the assigned learning title. And the panel containing more enrollment information is now accessed from the page-level Actions button menu instead of needing to scroll to the bottom of the enrollment details page.
When a learner has more than one activity to complete, they're presented with the number of required activities they've completed so far, and the total number of required activities they need to complete to complete their enrollment. The expected effort defined for the course or specialization is also indicated, and for required assignments, the due date is shown.
For completed assignments, the compact layout shows the completion date and the actual effort. When completed assignments have a score, such as for a Bypass Completion, the compact layout also shows the score.
When a completion has expired because its expiration date is in the past, the badge reflects this, like it already does in My Learning. And the compact layout shows the expiration date.
For other terminal statuses, such as Withdrawn or Request rejected, the compact layout conveys when that occurred.
For preactive statuses, such as No Active Offering, the compact layout shows the expected effort.
For active statuses, such as In Progress, the compact layout shows how many required activities are completed out of the total learning activities.
This enhancement enables learners to get key assignment information from the page header, leaving more space on the page for the details of the activities they need to complete.
Steps to Enable
Enable the ORA_WLF_COMPACT_ENROLLMENT_HEADER profile option. To configure the profile option, complete these steps in the Setup and Maintenance work area:
- Search for and click the Manage Administrator Profile Values task.
- Search for and select the profile option.
- Set the Level to Site.
- In the Profile Value field, select Y.
Tips And Considerations
This functionality is available for only Redwood pages. Also, cover art isn't shown on pages with in the compact layout. And the page actions are consolidated in the page-level Actions button menu.
Enrollment Details Improvements for Selected Offerings
The enhanced enrollment details page now provides more information about your selected offerings, including its title, and a streamlined way to accept or decline a seat. For example, you have a seat in an offering and your status for another offering in the same course is Pending seat acceptance. Then a seat becomes available for that other offering. The details page of the offering where you have a seat shows you a banner message that a seat is now available, as shown in this image. The message includes a link to open the More details panel drawer where you can withdraw from the offering waitlist or accept or decline the now available seat. You can now also view offering titles on course enrollment detail pages, as underlined in this image.
These enhancements improve the overall learner experience.
Steps to Enable
You don't need to do anything to enable this feature.
Learner Managers
Assign Learning to Direct and Indirect Reports
You can now assign learning to your team, request noncatalog learning, or record external learning to the specified person's direct reports or entire organization. Both of these options use only the line manager hierarchy. For example, John is Lisa's line manager and Paul's project manager. Selecting John's directs or organization would assign the learning to Lisa, but not Paul.
When you select Organization, you will be able to assign learning to all the people in the selected person’s organization.
This enhancement significantly reduces manager’s efforts to assign learning to their teams.
Steps to Enable
You don't need to do anything to enable this feature.
Tips And Considerations
Enable Redwood manager pages if you haven’t already.
Streamlined Manager Experience for Assigning Offerings
When you're assigning a course, you can optionally also select the offering. Here you can search for offerings based on their date, location, and title or pick the appropriate offering while scrolling through the list.
You can now more easily assign offerings to your team members, including when a team member's learning assignment has a No Active Offering status.
Select an offering on the learner's behalf from Available offerings section.
You can also assign an offering by opening the enrollment details page for learning assigned to someone on your team.
This feature gives managers the flexibility to assign offerings to people on their teams based on the My Team Learning page that they're on.
Steps to Enable
You don't need to do anything to enable this feature.
Team Learning Enhancements
You can now access actions, such as view enrollment details and send email, directly on your My Team Learning page instead of enrollment details pages.
- Click a learner's enrollment row to open the corresponding learning enrollment details page.
- See all the available row-level actions for the learner's enrollment.
- Send the learner an email using the row-level action for the relevant enrollment, regardless of the enrollment status.
- Switch teams using the page-level action.
This enhancement lets managers more quickly do enrollment actions for their teams.
Steps to Enable
You don't need to do anything to enable this feature.
Download Learning Assignment Details from Team Learning
Download your team's learning assignment details or summary aggregate information to Microsoft Excel from Redwood Team Learning.
To get all learning assignments for the direct reports, use Download for My Direct Reports. To get all learning assignments for your organization, use Download for My Organization. These actions will download all learning assignments, regardless of the filters set on the page.
Alternatively, use the Download icon to download the page-specific information seen on the following pages:
- Team Learning > Learners Page
- Team Learning > Learning Items Page
- Team Learning > Learning Items > List of assignments for a specific learning item page
- Team Learning > Learners > List of assignments for a specific learner page
The page-specific download action downloads the summary aggregate or learning assignment details based on the filters selected on the page.
For all learning assignment downloads, this information is included in the download file.
Sequence and Labels for Workbook Columns
Sequence | Column Label |
---|---|
1 | Assignment Record ID |
2 | Assignment Record Number |
3 | Assignment Type |
4 | Assignment Status |
5 | Assignment Substatus |

12 | Learner Number |
13 | Learner Name |
14 | Learner Primary Email |
15 | Assigner Display Name |
16 | Date Type |
17 | Date Value |
This feature lets managers download their team learning details to Microsoft Excel where they can pivot, filter, and summarize the details.
Steps to Enable
You don't need to do anything to enable this feature.
Tips And Considerations
Enable Redwood self-service for managers if you haven’t already.
Downloads are limited to no more than 5000 rows. You'll want to filter the learning information you're downloading so that you don't exceed that limit.
Access Requirements
Managers need the WLF_PRINT_COMPLETION_CERTIFICATE_PRIV security privilege to download learning assignment details.
Learning Administrators
Control Access to Learning Assignment Mass Actions
You can now restrict the mass actions learning administrators can do at a more granular level using these new privileges:
Privileges for Learning Administrator Mass Actions
Name | Code | Description |
---|---|---|
Mass Activate Learning Assignments |
WLF_MASS_ACTIVATE_LEARNING_ASSIGNMENTS_PRIV |
Allow user to mass activate learning assignments. |
Mass Bypass and Approve Learning Assignments |
WLF_MASS_BYPASS_APPROVE_LEARNING_ASSIGNMENTS_PRIV |
Allow user to mass bypass and approve learning assignments. |
Mass Bypass and Reject Learning Assignments |
WLF_MASS_BYPASS_REJECT_LEARNING_ASSIGNMENTS_PRIV |
Allow user to mass bypass and reject learning assignments. |
Mass Bypass and Complete Learning Assignments |
WLF_MASS_BYPASS_COMPLETE_LEARNING_ASSIGNMENTS_PRIV |
Allow user to mass bypass and complete learning assignments. |
Mass Withdraw Learning Assignments |
WLF_MASS_WITHDRAW_LEARNING_ASSIGNMENTS_PRIV |
Allow user to mass withdraw learning assignments. |
Mass Delete Learning Assignments |
WLF_MASS_DELETE_LEARNING_ASSIGNMENTS_PRIV |
Allow user to mass delete learning assignments. |
Mass Update Learning Assignment Dates |
WLF_MASS_UPDATE_LEARNING_ASSIGNMENT_DATES_PRIV |
Allow user to mass update learning assignments' learning dates. |
Mass Send Learning Assignment Alerts |
WLF_MASS_SEND_LEARNING_ASSIGNMENT_ALERTS_PRIV |
Allow user to mass send alerts related to learning assignments. |
Mass Complete Learning Assignment Activities |
WLF_MASS_COMPLETTE_LEARNING_ASSIGNMENT_ACTIVITIES_PRIV |
Allow user to mass mark learning assignment activities complete. |
These new privileges are independent of the existing Perform Mass Actions on Learning Assignments functional security privilege for mass actions. So users with the functional security privilege can do all mass actions even if they don't have any of the new privileges. To limit actions, remove the functional security privilege and add the relevant new security privileges.
These new security privileges make it possible to grant learning administrators access to specific mass actions instead of all mass actions.
Steps to Enable
You need to grant users the appropriate new privileges based on the mass actions they should be able to do.
Instructor and Classroom Availability
As a learning administrator, you can now view instructor and classroom availability on Redwood learning resources pages. To see the availability for an instructor, click their row-level calendar icon on the Instructors page.
On the calendar page, you can see all the instructor's learning activities in the calendar view reflected in the timezone of your device.
Clicking an activity opens the details panel drawer. Here you see the activity time and timezone defined for the activity, and also other activities in the same offering the instructor is scheduled for.
To download the Instructor's schedule of offering activities they are teaching, use the Export to Excel button.
To view classroom availability, click the row-level calendar icon for the classroom on the Classrooms page.
The calendar view for the classroom schedule behaves in the same way as the instructor calendar view does.
This enhancement makes it easier for learning administrators to find available instructors and classrooms to assign to learning activities.
Steps to Enable
- Enable the ORA_WLF_ORACLE_SEARCH_LEARNINGBOOKING_ENABLED profile option.
- Run the ESS job to create index definition and perform initial ingest to OSCS process with the fa-hcm-learningbooking parameter.
- Enable the ORA_WLF_LEARN_ADMIN_RESOURCES_VBCS_ENABLED profile option.
To configure the profile options, complete these steps in the Setup and Maintenance work area:
- Search for and click the Manage Administrator Profile Values task.
- Search for and select the profile option.
- In the Site row, Profile Value field, select Y.
Tips And Considerations
These features will appear automatically if the Redwood Classroom Management and Redwood Instructor Management features are enabled.
- The Calendars button in the calendar page opens a panel drawer where you can toggle the calendar view on or off. But you can't disable the Calendars button.
- The time zone offset is derived from your device time and not your Oracle Fusion time zone preference. For example, the activity is scheduled for 9:00a US Eastern Time, your Oracle Fusion time zone preference is set to US Pacific Time, and your browser is set to the time zone for Paris. The calendar event uses the Paris time zone, so the event time is shown as 3:00pm in the calendar view. The details view will show the time in the time zone it was scheduled.
Key Resources
For details about enabling the Redwood classroom and instructor pages, see:
- Update 23D Redwood Classroom Management and Redwood Instructor Management features
-
HCM Redwood Pages with Profile Options (Document ID 2922407.1) on My Oracle Support
Access Requirements
To access this feature, you need the WLF_MANAGE_TRAINING_RESOURCES_PRIV functional security privilege.
Zoom Classroom Provider Recordings & Notifications
You can now automate the retrieval of Zoom recordings for instructor-led offering activities using the Zoom classroom provider so that learners can review them later. Session recordings will be added as activity-related material accessible to enrolled learners and learning administrators.
You can also now disable notifications sent by Zoom for sessions managed through the Zoom classroom provider integration. Disabling notifications from Zoom for learner enrollments, withdrawals, and activity changes may be useful if you are already generating custom notifications from Oracle Learning directly, as it would avoid learners potentially getting duplicate notifications.
The learning administrator can enable or disable the email notifications that Zoom sends directly to participants. By default, Zoom notifications are enabled. Changing the Zoom email notification preference applies to only future Zoom meetings, already created meetings ignore the change.
This enhancement saves time by automatically fetching recorded learning sessions.
Steps to Enable
- Reauthorize the Zoom app with the recordings feature. You'll need to enable the Recording management permission for your Zoom account.
- Open the Configure External Provider: Zoom page in Oracle Learning.
- If you already enabled Zoom, you'll see that the account is validated.
- Click Validate.
- Sign in to the Zoom portal that opens in a new tab.
- To grant requested permissions, click Allow. This validates the Zoom account again.
- Click Save and Close. Now you can use the Zoom recordings feature.
- Schedule the Sync Instructor-Led Training for Learning process in Oracle Learning, if you haven't already.
Tips And Considerations
You may get email from Zoom to reauthorize the app weeks before getting the 24B update. We recommend existing users re-authorize the app only after getting the 24B update. If you do it before, you won't be able to use the recordings feature until update 24B, but you can still use the existing features.
Key Resources
For more information about Zoom features, see this help on Zoom support:
- Getting started with recording on Zoom, Starting a cloud recording.
- Setting up Zoom cloud sharing of recordings, Managing and sharing cloud recordings.
For details about setting up the Zoom virtual classroom provider in Oracle Learning, see these topics in Implementing Learning, in Oracle Help Center:
Recommend Learning for Position Profile Gaps
You can now automate learning recommendations based on the gaps between a person's current position and the position profile associated with that position. For example, the position profile for a software development director requires the person in that position have a communication skills competency a minimum proficiency level of 3. If someone in that position currently has a proficiency level of 2, they have a gap between the current and required competency proficiency level. In this case, Oracle Learning can recommend learning items with outcomes that have communication competency at proficiency level 3 or above.
These recommendations appear on the person's Redwood Browse Learning page, in the Recommendations for Current Job Gaps category.
This enhancement lets you drive more learning engagement with minimal manual effort.
Steps to Enable
- In the ORA_WLF_ENTERPRISE_WORKFORCE_ROLES_MODEL profile option, set the Site level value to POSITION. The default value is JOB.
- Schedule the Recommend the Most Popular Learning background process to run once a week with the Recommendations for current Job gaps option selected. Scheduling the process for a shorter frequency won't change the results, so for best performance, run it only once a week and on the weekend, if possible.

Reconciliation Process
To reconcile changes made to a section or an activity, we added new background processes. In the Setup and Maintenance work area, search for and click the Configure HCM Data Loader task. Use the provided attributes and values to run the Course V3 and Specialization V3 processes.
For the reconciliation process to run for all the DAT files, set Override to Yes for the CourseV3 or SpecializationV3 business object. To prevent the reconciliation process from running for a specific CourseV3 or SpecializationV3 object, in the first line of the DAT file, you need to specify the instruction "SET INVOKE_POST_PROCESS N" (include the double quotes). If you don't set Override to Yes, you can't prevent the reconciliation process from running for a specific CourseV3 or SpecializationV3 object.
To prevent the reconciliation process from running for all the DAT files, set Override to No for the Course or Specialization business object.
Attribute and Values to Use to Reconcile a Course:
- Business Object: Course V3
- Process Name: Reconcile Learning Records for Updated Course
- Description: Reconciles the learning assignments for a course with updated sections or activities.
- Task Name: ReconcileLearningRecordsForUpdatedLearningItems
- Default: Yes
- Override: Yes or No
Attributes and Values to Use to Reconcile a Specialization:
- Business Object: Specialization V3
- Process Name: Reconcile Learning Records for Updated Specialization
- Description: Reconciles the learning assignments for a specialization with updated sections or activities.
- Task Name: ReconcileLearningRecordsForUpdatedLearningItems
- Default: Yes
- Override: Yes or No
By default, the background processes reconcile all the affected learning assignments in these scenarios:
- An activity or a section is deleted
- A section or an activity is updated or added
- Sections or activities are reordered
This enhancement reduces the manual maintenance involved in deleting sections and activities.

When a learning assignment is associated with an assessment or observation checklist, you can now report on the questionnaire name and the answer label associated with the image response.
With this enhancement, you can more easily report across products. With more folder structures standardized between the Learning Records subject area and the Learner Learning Records REST API, you need to understand a single taxonomy instead of separate taxonomies for each product.
Steps to Enable
Leverage new subject area(s) by adding to existing reports or using in new reports. For details about creating and editing reports, see the Creating and Administering Analytics and Reports book (available from the Oracle Help Center > your apps service area of interest > Books > Administration).
Tips And Considerations
If you have reports that use the attributes in the Learning Evaluation folder, you need to change them to point to the new folder structure before the 24D release. Otherwise those reports won't work starting in 24D.
IMPORTANT ACTIONS AND CONSIDERATIONS FOR LEARNING
REPLACED OR REMOVED FEATURES
From time to time, Oracle replaces existing Cloud service features with new features or removes existing features. When a feature is replaced the older version may be removed immediately or at a future time. As a best practice, you should use the newer version of a replaced feature as soon as the newer version is available.

CONTROLLED AVAILABILITY FOR LEARNING
The following is a list of Controlled Availability features that are being offered by our Controlled Availability Program.
NOTE: These features are not generally available for all customers at this time. These are only available through the Controlled Availability Program and will require approval to become a part of the features program. To be a part of these programs you will be required to participate in testing and providing feedback. Some programs may require other participation as well.
Not to worry if you don't have to time to be a part of these early stage programs. You can uptake this feature when it is generally available for all customers. When these features are available for all customers you will see the features under their product headings as usual.
We invite you all to browse through the list of features to see if there are any features you are interested in implementing in advance of the features scheduled release. The table below will provide information on signing up for features. Please sign up soon, as these programs have limited availability and some are designed for specific types of customers.
The table below gives you a brief description of the features available and how to sign up. Some features are bigger than others, so for more information there may be a What's New describing the feature in more detail below this table.
We look forward to hearing your thoughts and ideas as you participate the Controlled Availability programs!

Learning / Administrator Experience | Introducing Digital Learning | The new Digital Learning task combines and enhances capabilities from the create course, create offering, and add online content actions into a single, simplified task. You can add online content in SCORM, mp4, or PDF formats to the Oracle Learning catalog that can be directly assigned to the learners. Digital learning content is similar to self-paced offerings with single activities, so it can also be included in offering and specialization activities. |
