Search for and Select an Item Using Autosuggest and Additional Information in Manufacturing UIs
When you search for and select items in manufacturing work definitions, supplier operations, work orders, and transactions, you get automatic suggestions. Make your search easier by using these suggestions from the keyword index, keyword search, and parametric search based on operational attributes, key flexfields, and extensible flexfields. As you enter the minimum number of characters into the item field, suggestions are automatically displayed to filter the item search results in groups including item number, attributes, item class, and item relationships in a drop-down list. You can select an item based on the automatic suggestions or refine the search by launching the Search and Select Item dialog box. In the dialog box, you can use keyword and additional parametric search fields and selectively add attributes as columns in the item search results before you select an item.
You can use the automatic suggestions for item search on these tasks and UIs for discrete manufacturing and process manufacturing:

Offering: Manufacturing and Supply Chain Materials Management
Tips And Considerations
Use the Offerings work area to opt in to the feature named Search and Select Items More Efficiently. This feature is available in the Items functional area of the Manufacturing and Supply Chain Materials Management offering.
Additional details:
- The item selection search uses the item keyword index. By default, the selected indexes include Item Number, Item Description, Long Description, Item Class, Organization, and Manufacturer Trading Partner Item Relationship. Additional attributes, organization, and languages can be added to the item keyword index using the Manage Item Keyword Search Attributes task in the Setup and Maintenance work area.
- The enhanced item search experience is not supported when reporting material transactions, output transactions, production exceptions, creating inspections, or searching for an item in a nontransactional page such as the Manage Work Definitions page and Manage Work Orders page.

Preassign Output Lot Numbers to Contract Manufacturing Work Orders
Some manufacturers require that their product lots be defined ahead of production in order to facilitate product labeling and audit requirements for material tracking. The lot numbers are generated and assigned to specific work orders before the actual production starts. When the product is being made by contract manufacturers, the preassigned lot numbers must be sent to the contract manufacturer in advance so they can use it during production.
Prior to this update, you could preassign one or more lot numbers for a product for in-house manufacturing work orders.
With this feature, you can preassign one or more lot numbers for a product in a contract manufacturing work order.
SETUP
Use the Preassign Lots indicator in work definition to choose work definitions that need to have lots preassigned during contract manufacturing work order creation and execution.
Preassign lots at contract manufacturing work order creation
Contract manufacturing work orders are created by supply chain orchestration process.
Contract Manufacturing Work Order
Based on your work definition settings, you see the Lot Numbers tab when the contract manufacturing work order is created. You can preassign one or more lot numbers for the product. To preassign the lot numbers, you can generate the lot number, choose an existing lot from the list of values, or specify your own user defined lot number. You can also preassign the parent lot number if the item is child lot-enabled.
If you also enable the default lot number for product completion plant parameter, the contract manufacturing work order number is automatically preassigned at the time of work order creation.
In both cases, when the lot numbers are preassigned, an XML file is generated with the lot numbers as a work order header attachment. This XML attachment is propagated to the contract manufacturing purchase order, enabling the contract manufacturer to use the preassigned lots when they report production progress.
.xml payload with preassigned lot details
You can preassign the lots using your user interface, REST services, and File-Based Data Import.
By preassigning the product lots to a work order, you can accurately track product lots and their transaction history and genealogy relationships throughout the contract manufacturing production process.
Steps to Enable
This feature 'Preassign Output Lot Numbers to Contract Manufacturing Work Orders' is always enabled dependent feature. The feature is dependent upon the Opt-In for the feature 'Preassign Output Lot Numbers to Work Orders'.
User need to enable 'Preassign Output Lot Numbers to Work Orders' feature to use the 'Preassign Output Lot Numbers to Contract Manufacturing Work Orders' feature.
Tips And Considerations
The details of the 'Parent Lot Number' and 'Lot Expiration Date' to be manually specified and cannot be defaulted. The attributes are dependent upon the item setup for child lot control and user-defined expiration date.

Restrict Lot Numbers During Work Order Return Transactions
In some industries, a lot number is recorded when materials are issued to work orders or product is put into inventory. Due to quality issues or other reasons, some of the issued materials may be returned to inventory. Similarly, sometimes products that are completed to inventory are returned to the work order.
Prior to this update, there was no restriction that the lot being returned must be one of the lots that was originally transacted against the work order.
With this update, you can select the Restrict Lot Numbers During Return plant parameter to enforce that the lots being returned had previously been issued to or completed from that work order.
You can continue to allow specific users to return any lot by giving them the WIP_ALLOW_UNTRANSACTED_LOT_RETURN user privilege.
These settings will affect items in the Report Material Transactions page, the Backflush Materials page, and the Report Output Transactions page. The settings apply to the user interface, FBDI, and REST services.
Restrict Lot Numbers During Material Return
Enforcing that operators can return only previously issued lots prevents mistakes and ensures product genealogy and on-hand inventory are accurate.
Steps to Enable
To enable this feature, follow these steps:
- In the Setup and Maintenance work area, select the Manufacturing and Supply Chain Materials Management offering.
- On the Setup: Manufacturing and Supply Chain Materials Management page, select the Manufacturing functional area.
- Select the task Manage Plant Parameters.
- For the manufacturing organization that you want to enable this feature for, Check the Restrict lot numbers during return plant parameter
In addition, the administrator to determine whether the new user privilege Allow unrestricted return to Lot Numbers in Manufacturing is to be used by the business.
Role Information
- Users who are assigned any of these predefined job roles are automatically able to access this feature:
- Production Operator (ORA_WIE_PRODUCTION_OPERATOR_JOB)
- Users who are assigned configured job roles that contain these privileges are able to access this feature:

Manage Outside Processing Purchase Requisitions
Enterprises choose to outsource a portion of the manufacturing process to an external supplier or manufacturing partner who provides specialized manufacturing services. This process also requires companies to have visibility to efficiently control and manage processes that are executed with external suppliers.
Prior to this update, you had the visibility of the purchase order, shipments, and receipts from the supplier for outside processing operations.
With this update, you now have visibility to the purchase requisition process from the Review Supplier Operation Details page.
The purchase requisition is created either at the time of the work order release or at the time of completion of an operation prior to the outside processing operations. However, in some scenarios, the production supervisor may not be aware of the purchase requisition creation failures such as, due to missing setup or other reasons.
Whenever there's failure during requisition creation, a new supplier operation exception is created with details of the issue and what needs to be done to resolve the purchase requisition creation.
Production Exception Displaying Details of Requisition Creation Failure
Based on this exception, you can resubmit the creation of the requisition from supply chain orchestration or reinitiate the requisition creation from the review supplier operation details page.
You can view the requisition number, requisition line, and requisitioned quantity.
Review Supplier Operation Details Page Displaying Requisition Information
As a production supervisor or a maintenance manager, you will now have complete visibility into the requisition creation process and the necessary information required to resolve requisition creation issues.

Enforce Mandatory Descriptive Flexfields During Work Execution Transactions
Descriptive flexfields are used to provide additional details about a product outputs and material inputs. While they are set up at the item, lot, or serial level, the additional details are entered during the production process.
Prior to this update, unless the user opened the descriptive flexfield window while doing a transaction, the application didn't enforce them to enter the required flexfields.
With this update, if a descriptive flexfield is set up as required, the user is prompted to enter the details before completing the transaction.
You Are Prompted to Enter the Required Descriptive Flexfield Attribute Values
Improves procedural compliance by ensuring that you enter the required descriptive flexfields before completing production transactions.

Other Manufacturing Changes in This Update
This section includes details about additional changes in this update that can change the way Oracle Manufacturing Cloud works.
Changed Logic for Overreceipts in Outside Processing
In outside processing, a quantity received and put away at a supplier operation is automatically marked as overreceived when an equivalent quantity is not yet completed at the count operation that immediately precedes the supplier operation. In some cases, work orders can get stuck and the overreceipt quantity has to be manually corrected. To ease the correction of overreceipts, the overreceipt quantity at a supplier operation is now automatically reduced by an equivalent amount if you do either of the following:
- Report completion at the count operation that immediately precedes a supplier operation
- Confirm the shipment (if applicable) at the supplier operation
With these changes, you don't have to perform the additional steps that were previously required to correct overreceipts in outside processing.
In addition, the outside processing logic now also considers the quantity shipped to the supplier (if Generate shipment is enabled for the supplier operation) while determining the overreceipt quantity.
Bug reference: 31455348
New Parameters Available to Purge Records Stuck in the Interface Tables
Prior to this update, sometimes you couldn't purge large volumes of records stuck in the interface tables, and this backlog of interface records could cause performance issues. As a part of this update, additional parameters are added to the Purge Records from Interface scheduled process to purge all the interface records and also purge unprocessed interface records.
Bug reference: 32559792
Modify the Work Order Starting Sequence Number in Plant Parameters
Prior to this update, you could specify a work order starting sequence number on the Manage Plant Parameters page the first time you accessed this task only. After you saved the page, the starting sequence number field was locked and became read-only immediately thereafter. However, some implementations require a custom start number when migrating work orders from a legacy manufacturing application, and some industries have a requirement to modify the work order start number every year.
You can now modify the work order start sequence number at any time. You can update this field up to 100 times per plant. Each update creates a replacement document sequence in the background. Note that you can't reuse a work order number by changing this value because during work order creation, the application will incrementally move the document sequence forward to the first value that's not used yet.

Perform Inline Inspection with a Sample Quantity and Unit of Measure
Certain industries use batch sampling for material analysis or destructive testing using physical samples rather than discrete units. Previously, you could define a physical sample quantity and unit of measure (UOM) in the inspection level to perform an ad hoc inspection on the Enter Inspection Details page. Now you can apply this setup to a mandatory inspection plan to guide sampling procedures for inline receiving and work in process inspections. For example, the inspector needs to take one sample of 10 milligrams for a receipt line, which is tracked in kilograms. To enable this sampling setup, you define an inspection level based on a fixed count of one sample with a quantity per sample of 10 mg.
When you enter quality results on the Inspect Receipt page or the Quick Complete or Complete with Details flows on the Review Dispatch List page, you can view the inspection details, such as the number of samples, quantity per sample and UOM, and total sample quantity and UOM. If there is insufficient material based on the total sample quantity required to complete testing, you can't proceed with inline inspection. In addition, the REST services that create, get, and update inspection events support the sample quantity, UOM, and total sample quantity for informational purposes.
Sample Quantity Information in the Inspection Details Pop-up
With a clear definition of the required sample quantity and unit of measure, you can better communicate and enforce the appropriate sampling procedures for inspection that is embedded in receiving and manufacturing processes.
Steps to Enable
You don't need to do anything to enable this feature.
Tips And Considerations
- Refer to the following features in the Product Lifecycle Management readiness materials for Quality Management:
- Define Sample Quantity and Unit of Measure for Use in Ad Hoc Inspections in 21B
- View Additional Columns in the Lot Dimension and Event Disposition Dimension in Quality Inspections OTBI in 21C
- There is no change to the inspection quantity and UOM fields and the logic that determines the number of samples.
- Marking the inspection level as sampling enabled is optional.
- You can leave the quantity per sample and UOM blank and enable sampling in the inspection level in order to inspect a sample size of discrete units.
- The sample quantity covers the material required to perform all of the inspection characteristics defined in the inspection plan.
- The physical tracking of the sample quantity in inventory or against a receipt line or manufacturing work order is not supported with this feature.
