Oracle Warehouse Management Cloud

The 9.0.0 Update of Oracle Warehouse Management Cloud (Oracle WMS Cloud) includes substantive improvements and changes to the following areas of the product:

What follows is a brief summary. The enhancements apply to Oracle WMS Enterprise Edition Cloud unless otherwise noted. For more details about each feature and improvement, please review the What’s New 9.0.0 Update document and the official Oracle Warehouse Management Cloud documentation in the Oracle Cloud Help Center.

User Experience and Usability

The major new features released in the Oracle WMS Cloud 9.0.0 Update include:

Updated User Interface Look and Feel

Update 9.0.0 aligns the Oracle WMS Cloud look and feel with Oracle SCM Cloud. This includes the login page, home screen, application colors and icons.

Expansion of Language Translations

Existing translations included Chinese – Simplified, French Canada, Portuguese Brazil, and Spanish Worldwide. Oracle WMS Cloud has now been translated into 10 new languages. Oracle WMS Cloud is now also available in Chinese – Traditional, French – France, German, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Polish, Russian, Thai, and Turkish.

Cycle Count Task Scheduler

Cycle Count Task Template rule capabilities are extended in this 9.0.0 release. Additionally, you can automatically schedule jobs to generate Cycle Counting tasks. This automation process further enables you to comply with your inventory auditing needs.

Transaction Monitoring and Reprocessing Enhancements

You can now monitor and reprocess certain warehouse loading and MHE integration transactions. Several input interfaces have also been expanded to show additional details in stage tables that will error out but have not been processed yet. These features further empower the customer to be self-sufficient in monitoring and managing their operations.

Display Standard Pack and Case Quantity Equivalents

In 9.0.0 users can see in select inventory views the quantity equivalents in other handling units such as standard packs and standard cases. When looking at Inbound License Plates (IB LPNs) or Outbound (OB LPNs) balances, users can easily know the quantity and the number of cases or packs based on the item’s defined standard quantities. For example, when inventory in forward pick locations is presented in packs or cases and not only in eaches, users can now see the preferred handling unit of measure displayed along with the units to pick.

RF Menu Enhancements

Cross-training associates continues to be one way customers further improve productivity. As the responsibilities increase, so do the RF options. To ease the organization of the increase in options, now you can create menus and sub-menus in the RF. This reduces the time it takes to navigate through transactions and improves productivity.

RF Screen Enhancements

In the 9.0.0 Update, Oracle WMS Cloud has increased both the rows and width of the display in the RF UI. Additionally, you can now personalize Control options with personalized options. These shortcuts enable you to select the options that yield the least movements and faster moves depending on the device you are using. For example, you can now map F5 instead of Ctrl-W. Removing the Ctrl options listed and instead listing them through a help button, F1, have also increased the information displayed on the screen. You can set up your mappings through the browser UI.

Support for Additional Time Zones

Oracle WMS Cloud now supports 9 additional Time Zones for user display and transactions for the facility definition. The new Time Zones are Arabia Standard Time (Asia/Riyadh), Spain Time (Europe/Madrid), Portugal Time (Europe/Lisbon), Germany Time (Europe/Berlin), Australia/Brisbane Time, (AEST), Australia/Adelaide Time (ACST), Australia/Melbourne Time (AEST), Australia/Perth Time (WST), and Australia/Sydney Time (AEST).

Functional Enhancements

Yard Management

The 9.0.0 Update introduces Yard Locations to Oracle WMS Cloud. You can now check-in appointments to either receiving dock doors or to the new yard locations. Warehouse operations now have the added visibility not just of in-transit appointments and loads that have checked-in to the docks, but also visibility to trailers and their contents in specific Yard locations. You can also execute the movements from Yard to Docks and back to Yard between the check-in and check-out.

Inventory Attribute Expansion

Many operations require managing different attributes of the same product. Some examples of these attributes are country of origin, quality (first or second), acidity, color, etc. Oracle WMS Cloud allows differentiating on-hand inventory by these attributes. The list of attributes is now expanded to support up to fifteen different attributes. You can now view inventory balances, allocate against specific attribute combinations, and perform Radio Frequency (RF) transactions on the first eight attributes. The remaining seven are for visibility, allocation, traceability, and reporting purposes. Oracle Warehouse Management Business Intelligence Cloud has been enhanced to allow reporting with all fifteen attributes.

Mass Update of Inventory Attributes

In certain industries, customers perform processes on items that can alter their inventory attributes while not changing the item itself. For some of the larger operations, these changes can be done to hundreds or thousands of LPNs at the same time. Performing RF transactions to update attributes, or doing one-by-one changes in the browser are cost and time prohibitive. Sometimes the automation equipment is also not available to perform through standard Application Programmer Interfaces (APIs). In this release, you can now update one or several attributes for multiple LPNs at the same time.

New Barcode Types

Defining barcode types for different entities combines the efficiency of scanning with validation rules such as expected number characters, prefixes, and so on. To continue to maximize customer operational efficiencies, barcode types can now be defined for Weight, Expiration Date, Manufacture Date, and Count.

Multi-Field Barcode Scanning

Oracle WMS Cloud has had the ability to print multi-field barcodes, where customers embed objects like License Plates, Items, and quantities in a single barcode. With this release, you can now scan and process multi-field 1D and 2D barcodes in RF transactions. You can configure and manage multi-field barcodes and define custom barcode classes, and define application identifiers and delimiters for elements like LPN, Item, Lot, Expiration Date, and quantity. Now that you can process multiple fields in one scan, this provides not only a higher degree of accuracy but also productivity improvements. Multi field barcodes can be 1D or 2D. Leveraging 2D barcodes allows customers to contain more data in smaller spaces on labels, longer reach scanning and a greater ability to scan damaged barcodes.

Selection Criteria Enhancements

One of the most flexible aspects of WMS Cloud is the ability to create unique rules to govern the behavior of features like determining Putaway Type, Task Creation Criteria, Cycle Count Tasks, and many more. In 9.0.0, the data elements are significantly increased. These elements now include attributes of items, LPNs, locations and inbound shipments.

Decimal Number Support

Oracle WMS Cloud V9.0.0 now supports configuring the decimal precision and which items are tracked in decimal quantities. You can now receive, putaway, allocate, pick, pack, and ship and track decimal quantities for the transactions. The support extends to accepting and displaying decimal quantities in the RF UI, browser UI, and Input Interfaces/APIs.

Receive Entire Shipment in Browser Enhancement

Oracle WMS Cloud continues to add functionality to the browser UI that was previously typically only available on the RF UI. In the 9.0.0 Update, you can now receive palletized LPNs through the Receive Entire Shipment option in the browser UI. Previously, only LPNs were received through the browser UI. Now pallet information can either be imported or entered in the browser UI.

Allocation Methods on Allocation Modes

Prior to release 9.0.0, you had the ability to set the Allocation Method only on a wave template.  This meant that inventory could be allocated using only one Allocation Method regardless of any number of Allocation Modes set on the wave template.  With release 9.0.0, the Allocation Method is now on the Allocation Mode.  You now have the ability to set different Allocation Methods on each Allocation Mode defined on a wave template. Allocation Methods determine allocation aspects such as the location type to allocate from (Active/Reserve) along with restriction on the area and zone, the allocation unit of measure (unit, case, LPN), and the inventory attributes to consider. The Allocation Mode controls if the allocation will be First in First Out, First Expiration First Out, and so on.

3PL Task Management Improvements

Oracle WMS Cloud 9.0.0 Update now introduces a new filter on the RF Execute Tasks, which only displays the tasks for the companies you are eligible for.

Consume LPN RF Transaction

Prior to the 9.0.0 Update, LPNs were only consumed through the browser UI. In this update, you now have an RF option to consume the LPN and remove from inventory.

Configurable Lock Codes for RF Create LPN

The default code for creating a LPN through the RF can now be either pre-defined or left up to the RF user at the time of creation. This allows for standardization or flexibility as to the reasons attributed to LPNs created in the application.

Inventory Summary – Alphabetized Lock Codes

Oracle WMS Cloud provides a Detailed Inventory Summary via the Custom Inventory View screen which now displays the inventory in lock code quantities in alphabetical order.

RF Distribute LPN Enhancements

In automated facilities, after inducting LPN to the Material Handling Equipment (MHE) LPNs went to a Reserved status awaiting MHE completion messages. Now you can complete the Distribute LPN tasks in the RF UI that were in-flight instead of awaiting MHE completion messages.

Integration Enhancements

Outbound License Plate Number (OB LPN) to Delivered Status API

In previous versions, LPNs in the Oracle WMS Cloud shipping facility were updated to delivered status only when the receipt was performed within an Oracle WMS Cloud facility. As more things are interconnected through the internet, OBLPNs can be updated from external systems through the standard API.

Create LPN API

As warehouse systems become more interconnected, this new API allows external systems, such as manufacturing lines, to create a LPN in the Oracle WMS Cloud.

Consume LPN API

As warehouse systems become more interconnected, this new API allows external systems, such as manufacturing lines, to indicate when they consume a LPN in Oracle WMS Cloud.

XML Support for Additional Input Interfaces

Input interfaces such as Cubiscan, Price Labels, Locate and Lock LPN, and Assets that were previously file based (PSV/CSV) now support XML as well.

Detailed Serial Number Inventory History Integration

Prior to the 9.0.0 Update, Oracle WMS Cloud had full traceability, visibility and execution of serial numbers within the warehouse. Prior to this version, Oracle WMS Cloud only notified external systems of the serial numbers that had inventory quantity changes (receipts, shipments, adjustments, and so on). With this release, Oracle WMS Cloud can now update Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems with detailed status changes that apply to specific serial numbers. Customers needing detailed visibility to the material status of a serialized unit can now have total visibility from the warehouse all the way up to the ERP system.

Serial Number Length Increased

Oracle WMS Cloud 9.0.0 Update now supports up to forty characters including interfaces such as Inbound Shipment Serial Number, POS, and Orders.

Allocatable and Unallocatable Status Change in Integration

Many inventory history transactions now include if the transaction has changed the materials status to allocatable or un-allocatable. This additional information streamlines integration with external systems such as ERP’s.

Point of Sale (POS) Interface Serial Number Enhancements

As companies work on improving their customer service and interactions, one area of focus is empowering customer service representatives when it comes to customer support. The Point of Sale interface is enhanced to better align the validations with the business requirements. Configuration now lets you determine if the return needs to validate against the purchased items, serial numbers, attributes, and so. This level of personalization will allow customers better flexibility while at the same time keeping traceability.

Order Interface Enhancements for Oracle SCM Cloud

The Order interface now supports fields intended to enhance the ability to build outbound fulfillment integrations with Oracle Order Management Cloud, Oracle Transportation Management Cloud, and Oracle Inventory Management Cloud. The additional fields include reference numbers from the Oracle Order Management Cloud sales order, Oracle Inventory Management Cloud customer shipment, and Oracle Transportation Management Cloud order releases (representing transportation shipments).

Wave Pick Information Integration Enhancements

Additional fields from the order are now available in the main interface to Warehouse Control Systems (WCS). You can now include the values of Order custom fields (fields defined by user) in the Wave Pick Information interface for WCS.

OAuth2.0 Token Based Authentication

Users logging into Oracle WMS Cloud can be authenticated using the OAuth2.0 authentication protocol against the customer’s identity provider.

FedEx UOM Handling

FedEx supports only Imperial values for weight and dimensions when shipping to or within the US. A new setting allows for shipments to/within the US to be identified and make the necessary changes so that requests to FedEx are done in Imperial System.

Send Output File After Ship OB LPN

The pace of information flow and interconnectivity has created a great demand for obtaining information in real time. Now, when shipping with RF Ship OB LPN or with Ship OB LPN API, a shipment file for the OBLPN can be generated based on user setup. This drastically increases the pace information is available to additional systems.

Rest API Standardization

Oracle WMS Cloud REST APIs are now enhanced to provide broader and more fine-grained access to Oracle WMS Cloud entities. The ability to query against various entities using a simple query syntax allows more flexible ways to retrieve data with results that can be paginated. It is now possible for customers to create custom applications that query the application using these API's. The current Oracle WMS Cloud product roadmap plans to expand these REST APIs to support modification in future releases. The planned goal is to be able to do most operations via APIs and for customers to be able to build complex applications using these API's.

Inventory History File Updates

The Inventory History interface is now updated to include to_location for warehouse movements and a creation time stamp.
