Oracle Tax Reporting Cloud, April Update

This document outlines the announcements in the upcoming Oracle Tax Reporting Cloud update.

Announcements and New Features

Monthly Update Schedule

We would like to inform you of the upcoming monthly update for your Oracle Cloud environments. We will apply the latest updates to your test environment on Friday, April 7, 2017 and to your production environment on Friday, April 21, 2017. The update will be applied during your normal daily maintenance window. The Oracle Help Center that provides access to updated documentation will also be available on April 7, 2017.

Using the Tax Reporting Cloud Sample Application

During the creation of your Tax Reporting Cloud application, you can now select a sample application to use as a template.

The sample application provides pre-loaded sample metadata, data and related artifacts, enabling you to try different operations, perform calculations, or enter data. Using this out-of-box environment, you can explore the capabilities and performance of Tax Reporting Cloud and get familiar with the forms and operations. When you are ready, you can model your own application using the sample as a template.

Configuring Jurisdictions and Entities

Jurisdictions categorize the provision for income tax at a national or regional level. You must create these jurisdictions for your application, and then create the associated currencies and entities.

A new section has been added to the Oracle Tax Reporting Administrator’s Guide to provide instructions on adding National and Regional jurisdictions and entities to the application using the Dimension Editor. A video on the same topic is available from the Oracle Help Center.

Enhanced Usability of the RTA Automation Form

The RTA Automation form has been redesigned to enhance its usability. See the following changes:

Importing Data

When importing data, you now need to specify additional details on the Import Data screen.

Displaying the POV Member Selector for a Report 

When you are viewing a report, you can now select the Prompt for POV checkbox.

If you select the Prompt for POV check box, when a report with a POV is launched, a POV member selector window is displayed.  The POV that you set affects all reports in the list that have a POV. 

If you clear the Prompt for POV check box (the default), the report launches directly, without displaying the POV member selector window.  The POV members in the report are the most recently used members on the form, or the dimension’s root if there are no most recently used members.

Even if you launch a report directly and bypass the POV member selector window, when the report is displayed, you can still change the members in the POV by clicking a link in the POV and selecting different members.

Performance Enhancements

A variety of improvements have been implemented with this update to enhance performance for Oracle Tax Reporting Cloud.

New EPM Automate Utility Version

A new version of the EPM Automate Utility is available with this update. This version introduces the maskData command, which masks application data to ensure data privacy. Use this command only on test instances to hide sensitive data from application developers.

Single Sign-On Access with NetSuite

You can configure single sign-on (SSO) access between Oracle Enterprise Performance Management Cloud and NetSuite. Configuring SSO requires you to configure a SAML 2.0 link between Oracle Cloud and NetSuite.

Accommodating Daylight Savings Time

In time zones that change based on daylight saving time, the daily maintenance time now accommodates the time change so that the maintenance process starts correctly at the time you set. However, to activate this fix, you must set the service maintenance time again even if you want to use the current maintenance start time. See Setting Daily Maintenance Start Time for detailed procedures.

Activity Report Now Contains Information on Long Running Reports

The Activity Report now includes Financial Reporting report generation activities in the list of activities considered for inclusion in the section titled Top 30 Worst Performing User Interface Actions over 10 Seconds. The report identifies the long running user action and the corresponding report object to help you fine-tune your reports.

New Smart View for Office Version

Smart View for Office Release 11.1.2.5.700 is now available. This release contains new features such as PowerPoint chart support from forms, and new HsAlias and HsDescription functions. The Smart View 11.1.2.5.700 Readme, available on the Help Center, contains a complete list of new features in this release.

You must install this release to ensure compatibility with the April 2017 release features and to access the new functionalities. See Installing Clients in Getting Started with Oracle Tax Reporting Cloud for instructions.

Changing Financial Reporting Server Values in Financial Reporting Web Studio

Service Administrators can now change the following Financial Reporting Server values in Financial Reporting Web Studio:

To edit these values in Web Studio, select File, then Preferences, and then the MBeans tab.

NOTE: This feature is not available for Report Designers.
