Oracle Tax Reporting Cloud, June Update
This document outlines the announcements in the upcoming Oracle Tax Reporting Cloud update.
Announcements and New Features
We would like to inform you of the upcoming monthly update for your Oracle Cloud environments. We will apply the latest updates to your test environment on Friday, June 2, 2017 and to your production environment on Friday, June 16, 2017. The update will be applied during your normal daily maintenance window.
The Oracle Help Center , which provides access to updated documentation, will also be available on June 2, 2017.
New EPM Automate Utility Version
A new version of the EPM Automate Utility is available with this update. This version includes the updated importsnapshot command, which now provides the resetPassword option. This option determines whether the default password assigned to Identity Domain users who are created while importing snapshots into an instance must be changed after the users sign in for the first time.
You must install this version of the utility to use the new command. See these sections in Working with EPM Automate for Oracle Enterprise Performance Management Cloud:
- Installation instructions: Installing the Utility
- Instructions to run commands: Command Reference
Activity Report Now Shows Some Essbase Query Performance Data
An enhanced Activity Report, which provides visibility into Essbase query performance by providing the following information, is available with this update:
- Worst Performing Essbase Queries over 15 seconds, which lists top 10 Essbase queries that took more than 15 seconds to finish.
- Top 10 Essbase Queries by Duration, which lists top 10 queries that took the most time to execute.
- Top 10 Essbase Queries by Execution, which lists the top 10 Essbase queries that users executed.
Ability to Upload Custom Fonts to the Financial Reporting Server
You can now upload custom fonts to the Financial Reporting server. When you upload a custom font, the following restrictions apply:
- Only true type fonts (.tff) are supported
- You can only upload one font at a time
- The font's embeddability property must be set to "installable"
When uploading custom fonts, you are responsible for meeting the Terms of Service for the fonts, and you should license them accordingly. Oracle does not guarantee that an uploaded font will work, and Oracle is not liable if a font is misused. See "Uploading Custom Fonts" in Designing with Financial Reporting Web Studio for Oracle Enterprise Performance Management Cloud for more information.
Improved Content Upgrade Screens
The screens displayed when updating the application content for business processes have been improved to provide more status.
Oracle NetSuite Integration with the Oracle Enterprise Performance Management Cloud (EPM Cloud)
Data Management is now available as the integration mechanism for Oracle Enterprise Performance Management Cloud customers looking to load data from Oracle NetSuite. Oracle Enterprise Performance Management Cloud customers now have direct access to Netsuite’s unified suite of cloud-based ERP, CRM and commerce applications. The integration uses the NetSuite Saved Search framework to query data from the NetSuite system, which includes pre-packaged or customer defined Saved Searches.
NetSuite customers interested in leveraging this integration should contact NetSuite Support for more information on how to configure the required patch bundle in the NetSuite environment.
Support Added for Google Chrome
Interoperability with Google Chrome and Oracle Smart View for Office 11.1.2.5.700+ is available with this update. From your service, you may now select Open in Smart View to access the same data in Microsoft Office. Conversely, you may launch Chrome from Smart View to access service instances when performing drill-through operations.
Launch a Financial Report or Other Artifact with One Click
Administrators can now streamline a workflow so that users can launch a financial report, dashboard or other form with one click. For example, if cash flow is relevant to a certain group, an administrator can make the Cash Flows report an icon on their Home page. Then those users can, with one click on their Home page, directly view the Cash Flows report.
To create access to a financial report, dashboard or other form directly from the Home page, an administrator creates a navigation flow and attaches a card to the flow. The service administrator also selects an icon for the report and assigns a financial report to the flow, and then activates the navigation flow.
The new card is displayed on the Home page of users who have access to the navigation flow. Users click the icon to view the report, which launches directly; the POV displays the most recently used members (or the root dimension if there are no most recently used members). Depending on the formats that the original artifact supports, users can view the artifact in PDF, HTML, or Excel format.
See the following procedure.
ADDING ARTIFACTS TO THE NAVIGATION FLOW
You can customize a navigation workflow so that a user can launch a selected artifact, such as a financial report, dashboard or other form, from their Home page with one click.
To add an artifact to the navigation flow:
- On the Home page, click Tools, and then click Navigation Flows
- On the Navigation Flow screen, under Actions, click Create Copy.
- Enter a name for the navigation flow, and then click OK.
- Click the workflow name, and then click Add Card.
- On the Manage Card screen, complete the following information for the card:
- Enter a Name for the card
- Under Visible, select Yes to display the card.
- Optional: Select the name of a Cluster of cards in which you want to display the new card under a cluster.
- Under Icon, click to search for a suitable icon for the new card.
- Under Content, select the Page Type you want to use:
- Single Page
- Tabular Page
- Under Artifact, click Search to select the artifact from the Library, and then click OK. You can select Forms, Dashboards or Reports.
- Click Save and Close. The card is displayed on the list of navigation flows.
- Optional: Under Assign To, select a Role or Group which will be authorized to see and use the new card.
- Click Save and Close.
- On the Navigation Flow screen, activate the new navigation flow by clicking Inactive.
- Under your user ID, select Settings and Actions, and then click Reload Navigation Flow. The newly created card is available on the Home page to open the selected artifact.
Enable IFRS Using Enable Features
When creating an application, you now have the option of selecting the IFRS reporting standard for the application. You can select one or both of the following options:
- Deferred Tax Not Recognized (DTNR)
- Consolidated Effective Tax Rate Consolidation
After the IFRS features are enabled, they cannot be disabled.
If you do not enable IFRS when the application is created, you can enable the feature at a later date. See the Administering Oracle Tax Reporting Cloud guide.
Consolidated ETR for IFRS Applications
After enabling IFRS for a new or sample application, you can calculate the Effective Tax Rate (ETR) reconciliation automatically, based on IFRS reporting standards. Specific National and Regional Consolidated tax rates must be input before you begin. The Consolidated ETR shows the pre-tax, tax, and percentage on the form. Tax is calculated based on the Consolidated tax rates for National and Regional NIBT. See the Administering Oracle Tax Reporting guide.
Current Tax Payable for National and Regional
The Current Tax Payable form enables you to capture a breakdown of provisions for each year to ensure they have been cleared by payments and refunds, or adjustments such as RTA, for both National and Regional. The Current Tax Payable form is available for both GAAP and IFRS reporting standards.
The Current Tax Payable Analysis can capture up to seven prior years ending balances that, when added, agree with the ending balance in the TAR. See the Administering Oracle Tax Reporting Cloud guide.
Select BVT Account in the Fixed Assets POV
When you access the Fixed Assets form, you now select the BVT (Book versus Tax) account that you want to use under Fixed Assets/Liabilities in the POV. This enables the user to select a parent member, such as 'Total Intangibles,' and only see its descendants in the rows below. See “Working with the Fixed Assets Form” in Working with Oracle Tax Reporting Cloud.
Enhanced Usability of Tax Automation Form
Tax Automation configuration has been split up into several screens for usability. National and Regional rules can be managed from different configuration screens. New screens are available for managing Global, Domicile, Region specific and Entity specific rules. See the Administering Oracle Tax Reporting Cloud guide.
Financial Reporting Studio Desktop Client
Oracle is committed to providing a simple and intuitive user experience. To achieve this, Financial Reporting Web Studio, available since March 2016, will become the only environment for designing and building reports.
Oracle is providing additional time for users to transition from Financial Reporting Desktop Studio to Financial Reporting Web Studio. Tentative plans call for functional parity between Financial Reporting Web Studio and Financial Reporting Desktop Studio in late 2017, at which time, support for the desktop Studio will transition to the Web Studio and distribution of the Desktop Studio will cease.
Oracle recommends that you transition to using Financial Reporting Web Studio at the earliest opportunity. Please send questions and concerns to Oracle using the Provide Feedback option in the service.
File-Based Integration of Data Management with Oracle Fusion Financials Cloud
Oracle Fusion Financial Cloud Budgetary Control and Encumbrance Accounting is now fully integrated with Data Management.
This enhancement brings the integration of Oracle Fusion Financials Cloud with Oracle Enterprise Performance Management Cloud on par with the current file-based integration. As a result, the file-based integration will be phased out starting the September update to the service.
If you are using file-based integration between Oracle Fusion Financials Cloud and Oracle Enterprise Performance Management Cloud, Oracle recommends that you adopt this new integration as soon as possible.
