Indonesian Unicorn Startup Bukalapak Adopts Oracle Cloud to Support Growth Strategy
Bukalapak, one of the leading online marketplaces in Indonesia and a unicorn company, has selected Oracle Cloud Applications to help it better manage its financial and workforce data as the company continues on its growth trajectory. The company has successfully gone live with Oracle Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) Cloud and Oracle Human Capital Management (HCM) Cloud, which help its finance and HR teams streamline processes and leverage data to operate as a connected intelligent business.
Founded in 2010 and based in Jakarta, Indonesia, Bukalapak has since grown to be Indonesia’s fourth unicorn and a billion-dollar startup. It hosts four million small and medium enterprises (SMEs), 500,000 kiosk vendors and 700,000 independent micro-businesses in Indonesia on their platform.
With Oracle ERP Cloud, Bukalapak’s finance and procurement teams can gain full visibility of the company’s financial position, reducing the amount of time spent managing accounts and closing their books while allowing more time devoted to strategic decision making. The company is also leveraging Oracle HCM Cloud to help enhance employee experience processes as it continues growing its workforce. The implementation is supported by PT Optima Data Internasional.
M. Fajrin Rasyid, Co-Founder and President of Bukalapak said, “We began our business with a vision to bridge the gap between Indonesian sellers and buyers, and today we are proud of the traction that our company has achieved in the market. Our platform has empowered the micro, small and medium businesses to participate in commerce activities, and we are committed to advance the livelihoods of these entrepreneurs through our technology. With Oracle Cloud Applications, we can have full certainty that our processes will be better managed and streamlined, allowing us to focus on the more important aspects of our business – developing our people and driving our business forward.”
Built with an AI-first approach, the market leading Oracle ERP Cloud and Oracle HCM Cloud applications help businesses autonomously connect and coordinate smart outcomes, data, and derived data insights across major business functions, platforms, and channels. This connected intelligence provides businesses with context and understanding for better decision-making, higher productivity, and improved results.
Davian Omas, Managing Director of Oracle Indonesia, said, “Bukalapak is a unicorn startup with high potential and great vision, and Oracle is proud to be a technology partner supporting Bukalapak as the company continues to make waves across Indonesia. Cloud applications have the capability to lower the barriers of entry for businesses of any size to compete in today’s sophisticated marketplace. Especially in Southeast Asia where micro, small and medium businesses are the backbone of the region’s economy, Oracle has been supporting startups with our cloud technologies through various engagements.”
Driven by a young population of more than 260 million people and a smartphone penetration rate of approximately 45%, Indonesia has become the region’s leading startup market, with a growing number of startups capitalizing on the country’s youthful potential.
