Java SE Subscription: Key Features

Critical Patch Updates (CPUs), Critical Security Patch Updates (CSPUs) & Bundled Patch Releases (BPRs): maintain business continuity and help support security with timely JDK patches and updates for all supported Java versions. Quarterly CPUs and monthly targeted CSPUs provide certified performance, stability, and security enhancements for all supported Java versions. BPRs deliver urgent fixes for critical issues between scheduled CPU releases.

Oracle Premier Support for your entire Java estate: 24x7x365 global support from the stewards of Java and main contributors to the platform—across clouds, servers and desktops. Access to Java expert help for troubleshooting, guidance, and root cause analysis—across any Java build, Oracle and non-Oracle. Triage support of your entire Java portfolio, including 3rd party libraries and runtimes.

Java Management Service (JMS): Comprehensive solution for managing Java across your entire enterprise, desktops, on-premises, and cloud. Enables a more secure and stable foundation for AI, cost optimization, resource efficiency, and simplified management of Java at scale. JMS helps enhance security and regulatory compliance, performance, and risk mitigation.

  • JMS Release Notes
  • Introducing Analyze Applications and Major Management Enhancements
  • Security Visibility and Risk Management
    • Java Library Vulnerability Analysis —Scans third-party Java libraries used by applications and identifies associated CVEs, helping teams find vulnerable dependencies and prioritize remediation.
    • Crypto Event Analysis —Identifies weak or deprecated cryptographic usage that may become incompatible with future Oracle JDK updates, helping teams enforce cryptographic policy and prepare applications for changes in the JDK Cryptographic Roadmap.
    • Java Runtime Lifecycle Management —Enables administrators to remotely download, install, configure, and remove Oracle Java runtimes, helping eliminate obsolete or vulnerable Java versions and maintain a more secure runtime baseline.
    • Java Estate Discovery and Inventory —Identifies Java runtimes and applications across cloud and on-premises environments, including outdated installations, unauthorized applications, and runtime/application mismatches that can introduce security and compliance risk.
    • Java Download —Provides centralized, script-friendly access to current Oracle JDK releases and updates, helping organizations deploy current security updates and reduce exposure from outdated Java versions.
    • IAM Access Controls and Auditing —Uses OCI IAM policies for least-privilege access and OCI Audit to record API activity, supporting controlled administration, security monitoring, and compliance requirements.

Oracle Java SE Subscription Enterprise Performance Pack (EPP) : Drop-in runtime upgrade that brings JDK 17-level performance to JDK 8 applications—no code changes required. Enhances performance, scalability, and memory efficiency for legacy Java 8 workloads.

Oracle Java Verified Portfolio (JVP) : a collection of JDK-related tools, frameworks, libraries, and services, provided by Oracle with a clear roadmap and support timelines for each. License and support are free for all Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) and Java SE Subscription customers, and many releases are licensed free to all users. JVP includes support for Helidon, Oracle Jipher, JavaFX, and Oracle Java Platform Extension for Visual Studio Code. Additional features are planned to be added to the portfolio over the coming months. See the Oracle JVP Support Roadmap for additional details.

  • Helidon—An open source, cloud native Java framework for building fast, lightweight microservices with Java Virtual Threads, built-in observability, and flexible programming models. Helidon AI adds capabilities for AI applications, including LangChain4j integration, MCP, and AI agents. Helidon releases align with the JDK release cadence.
  • JavaFX—An open source Java framework for building rich desktop applications, user interfaces, and data visualizations. Java Verified Portfolio provides Oracle commercial support for JavaFX and supported releases aligned with Oracle JDK versions, giving customers a supported path for developing and maintaining JavaFX applications.
  • Java Platform Extension for Visual Studio Code—Oracle's Java extension for Visual Studio Code provides editing, compilation, debugging, project management, and support for current Java language features and popular build tools. Built on Oracle's Java language server, it provides a streamlined Java development experience in VS Code with Oracle support through JVP.
  • Oracle Jipher—A Java Cryptographic Service Provider that wraps a FIPS 140-3 validated OpenSSL cryptographic module, enabling Java applications to use high-assurance cryptography and supporting deployment in FIPS-regulated environments. Jipher integrates through standard Java cryptography APIs and is commercially supported through JVP.

Post-Quantum Cryptography (PQC) : Oracle Java provides standards-based PQC capabilities, including ML-KEM and ML-DSA and hybrid post-quantum key exchange for TLS 1.3 in JDK 27. Oracle plans to bring PQC capabilities to supported Oracle JDK LTS releases, helping protect existing as well as new Java applications. Oracle Jipher 20 adds ML-KEM and ML-DSA support for high-assurance cryptography through standard Java security APIs.

Oracle JDK Mission Control & Flight Recorder: Monitor, profile, and diagnose Java applications in production with minimal overhead. Flight Recorder captures detailed runtime and application events for fast root cause analysis and performance tuning. Mission Control offers intuitive visualization and analysis to improve reliability and resource optimization.
