Note that according to the download page, BCM5755M 'should' use the NetXtreme Desktop/Mobile chipset driver, but there is no Solaris version here, so use the NetXtreme Server version (actually Solaris 8). Seems not to mind. However, when I used this with SXDE 01/08 entire+OEM cluster, it complained of a conflict for bge device support, due to the SUNWbge package (SUN BCM5789 driver), so I removed that with pkgrm before installing BRCMbcme. I'm not sure how many of these steps were required, because probably one of the later ones might have worked by itself if I did it first, but here's what I did: touch /reconfigure and reboot (saw broadcom Gig NIC link down, then NIC link up log messages appear) ifconfig bcme0 plumb (then found that nwamd was not active, so followed its man page to switch from static to 'auto-magic', and it did the rest.)
