Oracle Linux Virtualization Manager Database Templates Deployment Guide
Oracle provides templates (pre-configured, pre-built virtual machines) that are fully ready to deploy to a virtualized Oracle Linux Virtualization Manager (OLVM) environment. A typical template includes a guest operating system, database software, and the necessary configuration needed for deployment.
The Oracle Database Templates for Oracle Linux KVM/OLVM guide enables the deployment of a virtualized environment in a few short clicks and minutes.
Oracle Linux 7 Extended Support Deadline Extended to July 2029
The Oracle Linux (OL) lifecycle has recently undergone an important update. The end date for Oracle Linux 7 (OL7) Extended Support has been moved from the original June 2028 deadline to July 2029. This updated timeline offers customers an additional year to maintain their OL7 environments with continued access to security updates, critical bug fixes, and technical support from Oracle.
This extension reflects Oracle’s commitment to supporting customers’ long-term infrastructure needs as they plan and execute migrations to newer operating system versions. Organizations operating on OL7 now have more time to fully assess, test, and implement their upgrade strategies while remaining compliant with Oracle’s Lifecycle Support Policies. For details, refer to the official Oracle Linux and Oracle VM Lifetime Support Policy. |

Unlocking Flexibility and Security: An In-Depth Look at FUSE Filesystem Architecture
FUSE (Filesystem in Userspace) empowers developers to create custom filesystems in user space, enabling secure, non-privileged mounts and offering granular control over data storage and retrieval. This framework is ideal for specialized scenarios where standard filesystems fall short, allowing applications to tailor storage behavior to their unique needs. FUSE consists of both kernel and userspace components, working together to bridge the gap between user applications and the kernel.
In this blog post, we’ll explore the FUSE kernel module and the libfuse userspace library, focusing on the critical data structures and their roles within the I/O path. By understanding these layers, you’ll gain insight into how FUSE achieves its balance of flexibility and security—making it an invaluable tool for building advanced, application-specific filesystems.
Immutable Images for Oracle Linux with OSTree
Have you ever wondered how Oracle Cloud keeps our cloud services updated across hundreds of services, thousands of instances, and over 51 regions in 26 countries? The answer is Oracle Linux with immutable, atomic updates. With hundreds of thousands of immutable Oracle Linux instances powering the Oracle Cloud—and more every day—Oracle is likely one of the largest fleets of immutable instances in the world.
This blog is intended for anyone who’s interested in deploying immutable images to simplify their deployment and updates.
Overview of NVMe Architecture
