What’s new for NFS in Unbreakable Enterprise Kernel Release 7?

Unbreakable Enterprise Kernel Release 7 introduces new NFS enhancements for Oracle Linux environments. Based on the upstream Linux 5.15 longterm stable kernel, UEK7 improves NFS client and server capabilities with better NFS re-exporting, NFSv4.2 support for user namespace extended attributes, new write behavior options, cached access when a server is unavailable, expanded connection sharing, performance improvements, and enhanced diagnostics. Asynchronous vCPU Unplug in libvirt

Asynchronous vCPU unplug in libvirt improves how running virtual machines handle live CPU downscaling. The enhancement lets libvirt return once QEMU accepts a vCPU removal request, then report completion through a dedicated event.

This gives orchestration platforms more control over timeouts, retries, alerts, and reconciliation, helping infrastructure teams manage VM resources more flexibly and reliably. Read more.

Enhanced Authentication Support Now Available for Oracle Virtualization

Enhanced authentication support is now available for Oracle Virtualization with Keycloak integration in Oracle Linux Virtualization Manager. Keycloak is now the default authentication module, helping administrators centralize identity management, enable single sign-on, support multifactor authentication, and integrate with LDAP or Active Directory.

Oracle Cloud Migrations adds support for Oracle Virtualization

Oracle Cloud Migrations now supports migrations to Oracle Virtualization, giving customers a simpler path to move VMware virtual machines into on-premises Oracle Virtualization environments.

The new capability supports VM discovery, Oracle Virtualization resource discovery, live migration, incremental replication, and on-premises to on-premises replication without storing data in the cloud, helping organizations modernize virtualization platforms while meeting data residency requirements.
