Column Definitions:
Report = New or modified, Oracle-delivered, ready to run reports.
UI or Process-Based: Small Scale = These UI or process-based features are typically comprised of minor field, validation, or program changes. Therefore, the potential impact to users is minimal.
UI or Process-Based: Larger Scale* = These UI or process-based features have more complex designs. Therefore, the potential impact to users is higher.
Features Delivered Disabled = Action is needed BEFORE these features can be used by END USERS. These features are delivered disabled and you choose if and when to enable them. For example, a) new or expanded BI subject areas need to first be incorporated into reports, b) Integration is required to utilize new web services, or c) features must be assigned to user roles before they can be accessed.
| Ready for Use by End Users Reports plus Small Scale UI or Process-Based new features will have minimal user impact after an update. Therefore, customer acceptance testing should focus on the Larger Scale UI or Process-Based* new features. |
Customer Must Take Action before Use by End Users Not disruptive as action is required to make these features ready to use. As you selectively choose to leverage, you set your test and roll out timing. |

Oracle Applications Security provides a single console where IT Security Managers and Administrators can perform various functions including user lifecycle management, role definition, security policy management(both functional and data), role hierarchy maintenance, username and password policy administration, and certificate management. The console also enables users to simulate the effect of security changes, to run security reports, and download a connector for integration with Microsoft Active Directory.
Use Exclusions for Person Security Profile
Previously, it was mandatory to secure by area of responsibility to use HCM Exclusions. You can now create person security profiles to view all workers and specify exclusions, without securing them by areas of responsibility.

Securing Using Person Security Profile
Person security profile HCM Data Loader (HDL) and Functional Setup Manager (FSM) export/import capability have also been updated to support the view all capability.
This feature will make the person data access security implementation easier and reduce the need for custom criteria SQL.
It is a good implementation best practice option.
Steps to Enable
You don't need to do anything to enable this feature.
Tips And Considerations
- Candidates and people without assignments are automatically excluded, i.e., no contacts will appear.
- When migrating data through FSM export/import process, while child objects can be added during this process, deletion of child objects from the target environment won't be performed.
-
If assignment-level security is enabled, and a person has multiple assignments with one assignment excluded based on the HCM exclusion rule, then that assignment won't appear. However, if assignment-level security is disabled and you're operating with person-based security having access to at least one assignment, then all assignments will appear.
Key Resources
For more information on person security profiles and creating exclusion rules, refer to these topics of the Person Security Profiles chapter in the Securing HCM guide on the Oracle Help Center:
• Create an HCM Exclusion Rule
• How can I exclude some records from a person security profile?
HCM Extracts provide a method for extracting data from your HCM applications that can be used for interfacing data to another source or extracting data to integrate reporting across systems.

- Review the type of user entity, for example, single row, multiple rows, historic, or effective dated.
- Review the SQL query the user entity uses.
- Calculate the number of rows in a data set.
- Review the contexts used and set by the user entity.

User Entity Details Search Results
NOTE: If the new user entity is delivered after applying the release patch, then you need to update the user entity information by manually running the user entity data dictionary process.
To submit the user entity data dictionary process:
- Click Navigator > Tools > Scheduled Processes.
- On the Scheduled Processes Overview page, click Schedule New Process.
- Leave the type as Job, select the Generate User Entity Data Dictionary process, and click OK.

User Entity Data Dictionary Scheduled Process
- In the Process Details dialog box, select the report mode:
- Select No to update the new user entity information.
- Select Yes if you want to view the route, database item, and user entity details in a report.
- Define the schedule, output, and notifications for the process set, as you would do for any scheduled process.
- Set any other options and click Submit.
Steps to Enable
You don't need to do anything to enable this feature.
Key Resources

Extract Diagnostics Reports Enhancement
The new Extract diagnostic report is available in HTML format making it easy to read and navigate between different sections of the report. The report gives well-structured and detailed information on both runtime and design-time diagnostics.
You can get information on design recommendations to improve the extract design and performance. You can also run diagnostics for a specific HCM Extracts run to identify the phase-wise timing and recommendations to improve the process time for the subsequent runs.
The sections of the extract report are:
Runtime diagnostics report
- Recommendations
- Basic Information - extract definition, the data group
- Configuration Parameters
- Extract Parameters
- Processed Data Summary
- Process Error Details
- Overall Timing Summary Explained
- Ongoing ESS Job History Details
Design-time diagnostics report
- Extract Definition Information Section

HCM Data Loader provides a flexible and efficient method of bulk loading business object data for data-migration and on-going incremental updates to Oracle Human Capital Management Cloud.
Failing Schedules for Maintaining Stage Table Data are now Cancelled
To maintain an optimal performance of the HCM Data Loader (HDL), the staging tables are purged of the old data using custom schedules created by the users or schedules are automatically created by the HDL.
In this enhancement, the Cancel Failing HCM Data Loader Schedules post process is automatically submitted after processing a data set if there have been 5 or more instances of failed Delete Stage Table Data process when the schedule was:
- Created by a user who no longer exists in the system.
- Created by a user whose permissions to run the process that maintains the staging tables were revoked.
This post process deletes such failing schedules and all the waiting processes and raises a warning against the data set to indicate that the failing schedule has been canceled.
Automatic purging of failed schedules ensures the removal of orphaned failed schedules, thereby maintaining optimum performance without user intervention.
Steps to Enable
You don't need to do anything to enable this feature.
Tips And Considerations
After deleting the failing schedules, when the HCM Data Loader loads a file, it evaluates if schedules exist to maintain the stage tables. If not, it creates and submits a new schedule.
Key Resources
For more information on maintaining stage tables, see: Overview of Maintaining the Stage Tables
Simplified Security Configuration to Provide HCM Data Loader Functionality
The newly introduced HCM Data Load duty role provides access to HCM Data Loader (HDL) functionality, making it easier to create custom roles to provide HCM Data Loader functionality.
The HCM Data Load duty role is granted this access:
| Privilege | Access to |
|---|---|
| Review HCM Data Loader Business Objects |
View Business Objects task |
| Generate HCM Data Loader Templates |
The ability to generate HDL template files |
| Import and Load HCM Data |
Import and Load Data task |
| Transfer HCM file from UCM and import into stage |
The process that transfers data from the UCM to the HDL staging tables. |
| Load HCM Data |
The process that validates and loads data to (or rollbacks data from) the application tables. |
| Review Attribute Values of HCM Business Objects in Stage Tables |
The ability to review attribute values within the Import and Load Data task. |
| Delete HCM Data Loader Stage Data |
The Delete Stage Table Data task and process |
| Manage Data Exchange Work Area |
The Data Exchange work area |
Additionally, you'll need to grant access to the Oracle WebCenter Content server (UCM) folders that HCM Data Loader uses.
Customers can easily create custom roles for accessing HDL so that the users are provided granular access to the tools needed to fulfill their roles.
Steps to Enable
To enable this access, edit your custom role to add the following duty role:
| Name | Code |
|---|---|
| HCM Data Load |
ORA_HRC_HCM_DATA_LOAD_DUTY |
To grant access to the Oracle WebCenter Content server folders used to upload staging files and to generate template and error files.
Grant your custom role the following role hierarchies:
| Role Hierarchy | Code |
|---|---|
| Download data from Human Capital Management file based Export |
HCM_DATALOADER_EXPORT_RWD |
| Upload data for Human Capital Management file based import |
HCM_DATALOADER_IMPORT_RWD |
Tips And Considerations
Avoid granting the Human Capital Management Integration Specialist job role to users who only need HDL functionality. This powerful job role grants access to many more features your users may not need.
