Character Set Scanner
All Oracle Applications customers must refer to MetaLink : 'Migrating an Applications Installation to a New Character Set.' This document describes and explains the supported path to upgrade/migrate an existing Applications installation to UTF8.

Compatibility

The character set scanner is certified with Oracle databases on any platforms running under the same release except you cannot mix ASCII and EBCDIC based platforms. For example, the 9.2.0 versions of the Scanner on any ASCII based client platforms are certified to run with any 9.2.0 databases on any ASCII based platforms. It is recommended that you run the character set scanner in the same Oracle Home as the database when possible.
