Blog: How to Make Your VirtualBox Virtual Disk Bigger
If you run out of space in your VirtualBox image, use the VBoxManage command to make it bigger, and tell the host OS partition that it has more space to use. The Fat Bloke explains how. posted Wed, 02 Jan 2013 23:45:10 +0000 Blog: Create A Virtual Network from VNICs in VirtualBox
You can't create a virtual network on VirtualBox from other VNICs. Or can you? Joerg Moellenkamp, author of the c0t0d0s0 blog, says you can: with the clever use of snoop. posted Tue, 18 Dec 2012 21:36:12 +0000 Blog: Exalogic 2.0.1 Tea Break Snippets - Creating and using Distribution Groups
"Although in many cases we, as Cloud Users, may not be to worried how the Virtualisation Algorithm decides where to place our vServers," says The Old Toxopholist, "there are cases where it is extremely important that vServers run on distinct physical compute nodes." posted Mon, 10 Dec 2012 18:05:08 +0000 Tech Article: The Role of Oracle Solaris Zones and Oracle Linux Containers in a Virtualization Strategy
Oracle Solaris zones are referred to as lightweight virtualization because they impose no overhead on the virtualization layer and the applications running in the non-global zones. As a result, they are a perfect choice for high performance applications. Detlef Drewanz continues his overview of virtualization strategies with a focus on Oracle Linux Containers and Oracle Solaris zones. posted Mon, 03 Dec 2012 18:47:19 +0000 Blog: How to Create Virtual Directory in Weblogic Server
Oracle ACE Zeeshan Baig shows you how in six easy steps. posted Mon, 03 Dec 2012 13:48:42 +0000 Blog: ZOSS - Zones on Shard Storage
If you configure Oracle Solaris 11 zones on shared storage, you can migrate them more easily. Easy migration through ZOSS lets you, for instance, detach the zone from a running system that you will be shutting down for maintenance, and attach it to a backup system. Or a larger system. Easy to do. New with Oracle Solaris 11.1. posted Thu, 15 Nov 2012 18:08:42 +0000 Tech Article: Looking Under the Hood At Networking in Oracle VM Server for x86
You can create logical networks out of physical Ethernet ports, bonded ports, VLAN segments, virtual MAC addresses (VNICs), and network channels. You can then assign channels (or "roles") to each logical network so that it handles the type of traffic you want it to. Greg King explains how Oracle VM Server for SPARC does all that, and how it interacts with guest OS's and VLANs. Very cool read. posted Wed, 14 Nov 2012 18:30:21 +0000 Blog: Is This Your Idea of Disaster Recovery?
Version 4.1 of Oracle Solaris cluster lets you run a Solaris 10 zone cluster. That's a Solaris 10 zone deployed across several hardware servers running Oracle Solaris 11. This blog explains what that means and provides links to downloads and other resources for learning more about release 4.1 posted Mon, 29 Oct 2012 20:17:49 +0000 Video: How the Pluribus Network Hypervisor Works with SPARC Servers
A network hypervisor. It sits between your SPARC server and either your ZFS Storage Appliance or other storage system. It simplifies the management of your physical and virtual networks by letting you manage them as logical networks. It's rock solid, it's flexible, and you can manage it with your Solaris tools or Oracle Enterprise Manager Ops Center. Pluribus Networks calls it the NetVisor, and its founder and CTO Sunay Tripathi describes what it does and how it works. posted Tue, 16 Oct 2012 19:49:04 +0000 Blog: Operating System Set-up for WebLogic Server
