Emissions reduction and energy efficiency are key components of our sustainability strategy. In 2022, photovoltaic solar panels at the Goregaon campus generated more than 18,900 kWh of energy. During the same period, solar panels at the Pune campus generated more than 98,634 kW of energy. Additionally, we worked with third party suppliers to further supplement our renewable energy use, including procurement of more than 1.1M kW of renewable energy at the OFSS Bengaluru campus. We also implemented several projects to improve energy efficiency across our facilities and data centers in India, including energy-efficient LED lighting, cooling optimization, and data center consolidation.
We are always looking for ways to minimize water consumption and waste generation across our operations. By participating in ITC’s Well-being Out of Waste initiative, Oracle recycled more than 10,800 kilograms of paper and wood waste in 2022. Oracle Tech Hub (OTH) in Bengaluru continues to use treated water from a sewage treatment plant for landscaping, toilet flushing, and more. We also installed a rainwater harvesting system at this campus, conserving more than 11.7 million liters of water over the year. Additionally, most of our campuses in India employ composting, e-waste recycling, and other sustainable waster saving and waste management practices.
Protecting the environment is a key focus area of the Oracle Volunteering program. Throughout the year Oracle Volunteers contribute tens of thousands of hours to care for the planet, including during Focus on Environment—Oracle’s annual global volunteering initiative, which spans the months of March and April.
