Oracle to Support Training of 200,000 Students in Tamil Nadu in Cloud, Data Science, Artificial Intelligence and Other Emerging Technologies

Oracle collaborates with Tamil Nadu Skill Development Corporation to equip the state’s youth with the most up-to-date IT skills and capabilities to enhance employment opportunities and build India’s IT talent pool

Oracle and Tamil Nadu Skill Development Corporation (TNSDC) have launched a specialized skills development programme under the state’s massive skill enhancement initiative, Naan Mudhalvan, to provide employment-linked skills development training to more than 200,000 students in the state. TNSDC is collaborating with Oracle to offer Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) trainingto help students in the state advance their careers.

As part of the new skilling initiative, in 2024, more than 200,000 youth at different stages of their learning and professional goals will be trained and certified on modern technologies from Oracle, including cloud, data science, artificial intelligence (AI), machine learning (ML), and blockchain. Since its introduction, more than 60,000 students representing engineering, arts, and science streams from over 900 colleges across the state have registered to participate in the programme.

"Tamil Nadu ranks among one of India’s top 12 states with a growing youth population. As part of our responsibility to provide youth and young professionals with a platform to upskill themselves and achieve their career goals, we launched Naan Mudhalvan,” said Tmt J. Innocent Divya, managing director, Tamil Nadu Skill Development Corporation. “We already reach 1.3 million students through this initiative and with Oracle, we hope to train over 200,000 of them on new technology skills that could have a positive impact on their future career opportunities.”

Teachers and academicians will deliver the training as part of the curriculum on campus. Specific modules will be offered as a digital learning experience through Oracle MyLearn, Oracle’s comprehensive training and enablement platform from Oracle University, used by thousands of trainees around the world. It will offer rigorous foundational training in cloud technologies, leading to professional-level training, certifications, and additional training that will be individually curated based on learning levels and educational goals. The programme will provide students and professionals with a foundation in cloud computing and a better understanding of other core concepts such as AI, ML, data science or blockchain.
