The Java User Groups are the heart of the Java Community, where participants help manage local meetups every month around the world. But JUGs also host massive conferences and run programs to help educate the next generation of Java developers.
Here we highlight some recent events and programs created by community developers in various Java User Groups, and also some Oracle engineering visits to JUGs. |

Japan Java User Group Cross Community Conference
JJUG met in November for their semiannual meeting in Tokyo with 60 technical sessions and a thousand developers. The event is held twice a year and draws engineers from across Japan and around the world.
Bootcamp Zero to Hero 2025
Zero to Hero is a free, online course from the Latin American Java Community to help people learn to program and become familiar with the latest versions of Java, the most relevant language in the enterprise world. The program is now in its third year, and it’s organized by 7 JUGs: JUG Costa Rica, JUG Nicaragua, Bogota JVM, GDL JUG (Guadalajara, México), JUG Dominicana, javaMexico (DF JUG), and Quarkus Club (Brazil).
JAVAFEST Bangalore
Praveen Mohan, Jayashree Kumar, and the quality engineering team at Oracle’s India Developer Center in Bangalore participated in the third annual JAVAFEST. The Bangalore JUG led the event with participation from JUGs in Delhi, Mumbai, Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Hyderabad, Nagpur, Gujarat, and Kochi.
Amrita College, India
The Oracle Java engineering team in India not only participates in the Bangalore JUG, but they also recently visited Amrita College to meet with computer science students about learn.java, Project Panama, and other technical topics for aspiring young Java coders. The Oracle participants included Praveen Mohan, Jayashree Kumar, Manukumar V S, Prabushankar Chinnasamy, Tejesh R, and Ravi Gupta.
Oracle JUG Visits this Fall Oracle’s Billy Korando from Java Developer Relations recently mixed it up with JUGs in Oklahoma City, Dallas, and Houston to talk about the latest features in Java 25. If you’ve followed the Inside Java Newsletter, you've seen that Billy’s done multiple JUG tours in the United States in recent years and that effort continues.
Also, Java DevRel engineers Nicolai Parlog and José Paumard have both visited JUGs in Germany and Paris recently. And in January, Nicolai will be doing Java 25 sessions in Germany at JUGs in Hamburg, Paderborn, and Ostfalen.
And in New England Sandra Payne from the Java Platform Group presented a session on JVM diagnosis at the Boston Java Users ACM Chapter (formerly NEJUG).
Here's a map of as many JUGs as we can find. Ping us when JUGs do really cool things so we can promote them here in the newsletter. |

| Quote of the Month |
| The Voice of Developers in the Java Community. |
|
Each month we highlight a quote from someone in the Java community who feels passionately about the technology or the people who make the community thrive.
This monty we find Nate Schutta, an author, a software architect, and Java Champion. Nate lives in the United States, teaches computer science to university students, and presents Java sessions worldwide. |
|
|
| "The JVM is amazing. It's just a feat of engineering. The fact that it’s managed to evolve and grow and adapt to new programming styles and new approaches is amazing." |
