Analysts Impressed by Oracle Application Server 10g
Leading independent analyst groups Gartner and Forrester have heaped praise on Oracle's Application Server 10g in two recent reports. In the 2005 Gartner Enterprise Application Servers Magic Quadrant, Oracle Application Server 10g is positioned in the Leaders Quadrant. Gartner defines vendors in the Leaders Quadrant as those which are performing well today, have a clear vision of market direction and are actively building competencies to sustain their leadership position in the market.

In a report entitled 'Forrester Wave: Application Server Platforms, Q1 2005' Forrester defines Oracle as a leader amongst the select few organisations invited to participate in the exhaustive evaluation programme. In addition to this, Application Server 10g achieved the highest overall scores in the following key categories:
- Availability and Reliability
- Administration and Management
- Standards and Interoperability
- Cost
In the report Forrester vice president John Rymer writes "Oracle has a surprising range of functions for composite application development and management, as well as a surprising degree of integration between the components of its application platform suite. Oracle scored high on all of the Forrester Wave's Current Offering criteria but had particularly strong administration and management features, compared with the other vendors. Oracle's costs are also comparatively low, and the company has dramatically expanded its market presence during the past two years."
One of the latest end-user organisations to select Oracle Application Server 10g is Deutsche Post World Net. It will adopt the software as the foundation for its technology infrastructure which will help to integrate the company's many business systems, subsidiaries and applications. DPNW is one of the world's largest logistics provider and owns the brands DHL, Deutsche Post and Postbank.
Michael Herr, senior director of IT and head of the service orientated platform group within Deutsche Post said "Working with a strong partner like Oracle will help us support our international growth strategy. We intend to become the leading company in mail, parcel, express and logistics worldwide. To have a service-oriented platform into which we can very easily plug both newly developed and existing IT systems, combined with those resulting from mergers and acquisitions, is a very attractive value proposition."
