Oracle launches Standard Edition One
Oracle Database now available for less than €1,000

Oracle Standard Edition One provides SMEs with the world's most popular database software - from under €1,000 in license fees.

With Oracle Database Standard Edition One, you can offer your SME customers Oracle's award-winning database priced at just €5,031 (list) for an unlimited number of users tapping into a single processor, or €164 per user with a minimum of five users. Based on the per user pricing, a company can now license Oracle's database for less than €1,000!

Oracle Standard Edition One has many features designed for small and medium-size enterprises such as easy, rapid installation and simplified management. The product is part of the complete Oracle Database family, offering full compatibility and scalability to tackle the biggest problems. Customers can start small and grow as their needs grow.

Large market opportunity
Oracle is the preferred database platform among smaller European companies, according to a survey of 472 randomly-selected SMEs interviewed by Trend Research in October 2003. The study found that a third of companies had already chosen to standardise on Oracle, and a third said that Oracle would be their database of choice if all databases were priced equally. With this new pricing initiative, Oracle has removed the cost barrier and opened up a wide market opportunity for ISVs in the SME sector.
