Oracle Database Service for Azure

Oracle Database Service for Azure is an Oracle-managed multicloud service that enables customers to easily set up and use high performance, scalable Oracle databases running on OCI for their Azure applications. Azure customers can quickly deploy Oracle Database running on OCI through the Oracle Database Service for Azure portal using a streamlined experience for establishing low latency OCI-Azure connectivity, virtual networks, and federated identity management. Database logs and metrics from OCI integrate into Azure to simplify monitoring and operation management. Customers can initiate support requests for the environment through either Microsoft or Oracle.

The diagram shows Microsoft Azure on the left and Oracle Cloud Infrastructure on the right. The Azure section includes icons for a user, Azure Active Directory, Azure Log Analytics, Azure App Insights, applications, and Azure ExpressRoute. The Oracle section includes icons for Oracle Database Service for Azure, OCI identity services, Exadata Database Service, Autonomous Database, MySQL HeatWave, Base Database Service, and OCI FastConnect. The network link from Azure to OCI is labeled "OCI-Azure Interconnect Private Tunnel."

Interconnect technology integration

By using Oracle FastConnect and Azure ExpressRoute, customers can seamlessly build a private interconnection between their OCI and Microsoft Azure environments. The Oracle Interconnect for Azure also enables joint customers to take advantage of a unified identity and access management platform that leads to cost savings. Cloud engineers can set up single sign-on (SSO) between Microsoft Azure and OCI for their Oracle applications, such as PeopleSoft and JD Edwards EnterpriseOne. Having a federated SSO makes the integration seamless and lets users authenticate only once to access multiple applications, without signing in separately to access each application.

  • Direct connection between cloud vendors.
  • Latency of less than two milliseconds for traffic between OCI and Microsoft Azure.
  • Pricing is based solely on port capacities for OCI FastConnect and Azure ExpressRoute Local circuit.
  • No charges for data ingress or egress

Collaborative support

Oracle Cloud and Microsoft Azure Interconnect offer a seamless issue resolution process that can be initiated through Microsoft or Oracle when an issue is encountered. Oracle delivers support directly to customers with Oracle software licenses who are running Oracle software on Microsoft Hyper-V and Microsoft Azure.

  • Raise issues with Oracle or Microsoft.
  • Joint resolution by both cloud vendors.
  • Oracle support will request a customer’s permission to engage with Microsoft directly; a similar resolution model applies to Microsoft.
