Oracle Academy in India

Through Oracle Academy—a free program that advances computer science education globally to drive knowledge, innovation, skills development, and diversity in technology fields—Oracle has made a commitment to reach half a million students in India annually by 2019. In 2016, the program established new partnerships with ICT academies in Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Jharkhand, and Telangana, while continuing to work closely with the Central Board of Secondary Education and the National Institute of Open Schooling to support teachers at secondary schools.

Gender Equity in Education

Oracle Giving works to improve equity in education and prevent violence against women and girls through grants to organizations including Educate Girls, CARE India, Centre for Catalyzing Change, Breakthrough Trust, Sarathi Development Foundation, and many others.

Oracle Volunteers support women’s empowerment, education, and skill development through engagement with Oracle Giving grantees such as those above and through programs including D-Change, a first-of-its-kind joint corporate citizenship collaboration between Oracle and State Bank of India.

Oracle Academy supports government-led initiatives to increase diversity in technology fields across India through sponsorships and targeted events. In 2016, Oracle Academy sponsored the first ACM India National-Level Hackathon for Women in Computing. The event challenged more than 200 female students from colleges and universities around the country to develop “Tech for Public Good” innovations.
