Business Challenges

Biofy Technologies is a Brazilian startup focused on developing solutions based on artificial intelligence (AI) with practical applications in various fields. The company currently serves dozens of clients with solutions such as Biofy Agro, which measures the sugar content of sugarcane in real time in the field, helping producers decide the best time to harvest.

In the legal field, the company's portfolio includes LexIA, a solution that optimizes case analysis with speed and accuracy, reducing the time spent on this type of task by up to 30%, allowing lawyers and law firms to focus on more strategic activities, such as the resolution of complex cases. Abby Recommender uses advanced machine learning and DNA sequencing techniques to analyze, identify, and recommend the best antibiotic options based on the analysis of biological samples (blood, saliva, etc.) from infected patients, mitigating the risk of antimicrobial resistance.

Until recently, these and other solutions developed by the company were offered on-premises, which entailed high technological infrastructure costs and limitations in terms of availability and disaster recovery. As the business grew and scaled, it became clear that it was necessary to migrate to the cloud—not only to offer greater application security, but also to ensure greater flexibility and strength.

Why Biofy Chose Oracle

In 2022, the company began searching for a partner that was more than just a cloud infrastructure provider; they wanted someone who would support them and be involved in the process of co-building their business. In this sense, the support offered by Oracle's technical teams from the very first meetings was essential for Biofy to choose Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) as its public cloud services platform.

The choice was also based on other factors. In addition to offering the best price-performance ratio on the market, next-generation GPUs, and low latency, OCI allows for the execution of database services and multicloud applications, in addition to having several solutions practically ready in its environment, which can be used by developers to accelerate the development of new technologies.

Results

By migrating to Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI), Biofy reduced its IT infrastructure costs by 50% and doubled the performance of some of its solutions, thanks to the use of next-generation GPUs and CPUs. The move eliminated the need to invest in proprietary equipment and dedicated maintenance teams, allowing the startup to direct resources toward innovation.

Among the main gains is Abby Recommender, a tool that combines artificial intelligence with DNA analysis to recommend the most effective antibiotic. What previously took up to five days is now completed in just four hours, a 96.6% reduction in response time. LexIA, in the legal sector, analyzes cases of up to 60,000 pages long in just minutes, generating summaries and insights supported by OCI Generative AI's advanced language models.

Biofy also uses resources such as Oracle Autonomous Database, which allows for the creation of data lakes with automatic relationships between data, OCI Vision, focused on image recognition, and Oracle Document Understanding, used to extract information from documents. These tools help accelerate the development of new products, such as the microclimate weather forecasting solution. With a resolution of up to two kilometers, it anticipates rainfall, strong winds, and lightning, helping energy companies prevent outages and damage to the power grid. The project requires 32 state-of-the-art GPUs, provided by Oracle.

Furthermore, by joining the Oracle Cloud Marketplace, Biofy gained global visibility and a direct connection to Oracle customers, while also benefiting from commercial support in promoting its AI solutions for different sectors. Biofy is part of the Oracle PartnerNetwork and has been collaborating on project development for OCI customers, strengthening its competitive advantage. In one case, it helped create an AI data lake using Oracle Autonomous Database 23ai, which enables natural language searches. The solution transforms plain text queries into database commands, democratizing access to information and driving innovation.

This has driven Biofy's innovation, enabling them to grow in national and international markets. With OCI, Biofy reduced IT infrastructure costs and significantly increased the performance of its solutions, also benefiting from the advantages provided by Oracle Cloud Marketplace and Oracle PartnerNetwork.
