Oracle Autonomous Transaction Processing is a fully automated database service optimized to run transactional, analytical, and batch workloads concurrently. To accelerate performance, it’s preconfigured for row format, indexes, and data caching while providing scalability, availability, transparent security, and real-time operational analytics. Application developers and DBAs can rapidly, easily, and cost-effectively develop and deploy applications without sacrificing functionality or atomicity, consistency, isolation, and durability (ACID) properties. Built on Oracle Database and Oracle Exadata, Autonomous Transaction Processing is available on Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) for serverless or dedicated deployments and on-premises with Exadata Cloud@Customer and OCI Dedicated Region.

*To make it easier to compare pricing across cloud service providers, Oracle web pages show both vCPU (virtual CPUs) prices and OCPU (Oracle CPU) prices for products with compute-based pricing. The products themselves, provisioning in the portal, billing, etc. continue to use OCPU (Oracle CPU) units. OCPUs represent physical CPU cores. Most CPU architectures, including x86, execute two threads per physical core, so 1 OCPU is the equivalent of 2 vCPUs for x86-based compute. The per-hour OCPU rate customers are billed at is therefore twice the vCPU price since they receive two vCPUs of compute power for each OCPU, unless it’s a sub-core instance such as preemptible instances.

Organizations can consolidate on-premises Oracle Database instances in Autonomous Database to reduce resource costs . What if you have hundreds of databases, each requiring a fraction of an ECPU or being highly oversubscribed? The new Elastic Resource Pools feature in Autonomous Database addresses such use cases by allowing you to consolidate database instances into a pool that scales up and down without downtime, potentially providing compute cost savings of up to 87% versus paying for each instance individually.
