| Learn.java Continues to Grow |
| |
| Crystal Sheldon and Heather Stephens from the Java Developer Relations team continue to build out the content on the new Learn.java website that the team recently built and announced at JavaOne. Learn.java is beginning to share personal stories from teachers, students, and professionals. |
In this video, we hear from Sandy Czjaka, a long time AP Computer Science teacher from Riverside Brookfield HS about the importance of teaching Java. There will be more teacher testimonials in the coming months.
Also, here are two related events from the education team on Java Developer Relations: Computer Science Teacher of America (CSTA) Conference, July 2025 Crystal Sheldon and Heather Stephens attended this year’s CSTA conference in Cleveland, Ohio. The conference brought K-12 and post-secondary educators together to share best practices and resources, and to discuss important issues like the role of AI, diversity, and inclusion in computer science. Crystal presented a workshop where participants chose a mini-lab that incorporated newer Java features. Participants were supported in completing the lab by working in groups and using the tutorials found on the Learn.java website. A list of mini-labs can be found on Learn.java. AP Annual Conference, July 2025 Crystal Sheldon attended the AP Annual Conference in Boston, Massachusetts. The AP program provides students the opportunity to earn college credit by taking courses and exams in 40 courses. There are two AP Computer Science courses available to students, and the AP Computer Science A course is offered in Java. Crystal presented two sessions at the conference. One on the value of AP Computer Science courses for students and one on innovative Java labs. |

| The Inside Java Podcast is a show for Java developers brought to you directly by the people that make Java at Oracle. We discuss the language, the JVM, OpenJDK, platform security, innovation projects like Loom and Panama, and everything in between! |

Integrity by Default with Ron Pressler Nicolai Parlog from Java Developer Relations talks to Ron Pressler, who is Java Architect at Oracle and, among other things, lead of Project Loom. The conversation covers the Java runtime that offers a host of guarantees like memory safety, type safety, encapsulation, and more. What makes these aspirations actual guarantees is a property called integrity. But there are a few mechanisms in Java that allow undermining integrity — some for good, some for less good reasons. Integrity by default states that all such operations need to be disabled by default. |
