x86 Products Name Change
Oracle launched its newly refreshed Sun x86 servers on Intel’s E5-2600 chipset on April 10, 2012, delivering the industry’s best x86 platform for Oracle software and other enterprise applications. Furthering its commitment to the x86 market segment, Oracle is now announcing the strategic alignment of its Sun x86 rackmount and blade servers with the naming conventions used by Oracle’s Engineered Systems. Since Oracle’s Engineered Systems have always used Oracle’s x86 rackmount systems as the basis of its integrated and optimized solutions, the decision was made to fully align the naming of both product lines.
The table below indicates which Oracle servers are transitioning to a new name. This naming change also affects Oracle’s Netra Carrier Grade server solutions, which are based on the x86 server portfolio. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||
