ayside Health Launches DoseMeRx Integration with Oracle

Three hospitals in Melbourne, Australia that are part of the Bayside Health network, The Alfred, Sandringham Hospital, and Caulfield Hospital, have become the first Oracle Health client in the JAPAC region to fully deploy a third-party application integrated with FHIR (Fast Healthcare Interoperability Resources) with the Oracle Health Foundation electronic health record (EHR). The application, DoseMeRx, offers a precision dosing platform and is part of the Oracle Partner Network. This integration enables clinicians to access DoseMeRx dosing recommendations within their existing Oracle Health Foundation EHR workflow, reducing the need to switch between systems.

Pharmacists at the three hospitals now use DoseMeRx to help prescribe and adjust medication doses without having to manually enter dose history, demographics, or pathology results into the system. They can also easily document the dosing recommendations into the patient’s medical record for easy reference in future. One example is the antibiotic, vancomycin. DoseMeRx uses patient-specific data from the Oracle Health Foundation EHR to calculate individualised, evidence-based medication dosing recommendations using advanced Bayesian pharmacokinetic modeling. Their clinicians benefit from optimised dosing regimens designed to help achieve therapeutic targets efficiently, reducing the risk of adverse drug reactions and enhancing patient care.

“Reducing manual data entry, and driving safer, more effective treatments is great for both patients and staff,” said Erica Tong, chief pharmacy information officer, Alfred Health. “Supporting our clinicians with the latest tools is part of that.”

Oracle Health is committed to supporting the healthcare ecosystem with open, standards-based APIs. This assists health systems, partners, and developers to easily integrate new tools and digital health applications into Oracle Health solutions without relying on proprietary or closed interfaces. DoseMeRx integrates with the Oracle Health Foundation EHR using its Ignite API for FHIR. FHIR is a modern, open-source standard that enables secure, real-time sharing of clinical and administrative data between disparate health systems—delivering new levels of connected care. The FHIR-based solution exemplifies how open standards can power secure, efficient data exchange, empowering providers to deliver better, more personalised care. Oracle Health Foundation EHR facilitates secure exchange of patient information and workflow integration.

“This integration demonstrates what’s possible when open standards like FHIR are leveraged to connect precision dosing directly within the clinical workflow,” said John Hardesky, CEO, DoseMe. “By embedding Bayesian dosing intelligence into the Oracle Health Foundation EHR, clinicians can access individualised recommendations through DoseMe without disrupting care delivery — advancing both safety and efficiency.”

“This collaboration between Bayside Health and Oracle Health demonstrates the success we can achieve across the healthcare industry when we eliminate walled gardens and support an open, interoperable ecosystem,” said Seema Verma, executive vice president and general manager, Oracle Health and Life Sciences. “Together, we are accelerating innovation and creating a more connected healthcare experience that enhances patient care across the region."
