“Our nurses and caregivers saw the benefits right away—faster response times, streamlined alerts, and less time spent on calls or chasing paperwork. With Oracle Health’s mobile solution, we’re more connected, efficient, and able to focus on patient care.”
Henry Community Health is a 75-bed rural hospital in Henry County, Indiana. Deeply embedded into its community—it sponsors mammogram assistance, heart health conferences, even the local athletic teams—the hospital needed to figure out how to offer care efficiently and cost-effectively, without sacrificing the exceptional preventive and specialized care for which it’s known. Henry Community Health’s leaders decided to give the hospital’s physicians and other staffers access to cutting-edge technologies, including AI-powered decision support tools and interoperable patient record systems.
Henry Community Health deployed Oracle Health EHR Nursing Mobility to replace pagers, faxes, and other fragmented, outdated means of communication, with the aim of reducing response times and simplifying collaboration. Now clinicians, maintenance staff, and transport personnel can communicate with each other seamlessly using a mobile solution designed to address HIPAA regulations. Oracle Health EHR Nursing Mobility is also the basis of a notification system in patient rooms that enables clinicians to press a button to notify the appropriate people when a patient needs to be moved, a room needs to be cleaned, or a patient needs immediate attention.
Henry Community Health wanted a communication solution that would integrate with its clinical workflows and patient records to enable timely responses and dependable notifications. The hospital adopted Oracle Health EHR Nursing Mobility (which integrates with its nurse call systems and Oracle Health Foundation EHR), replacing fragmented messaging systems, pagers, phone chains, faxes, and paper logs with a secure mobile solution that’s accessible to nurses, physicians, pharmacists, imaging technicians, and others.
Moving from pagers, handwritten logs, phone calls, and faxes to Oracle Health EHR Nursing Mobility has helped physicians, nurses, pharmacists, technicians, and maintenance personnel enhance care coordination. Role-based notifications and messaging have replaced phone tag, making processes such as patient transport, specialist consultations, the delivery of discharge instructions, and room cleanup more efficient. Emergency codes reach response teams instantly via automated text notifications—staff can arrive at the scene before an operator completes the PA system calls. The resulting minutes saved can be crucial in life-threatening situations.
Thousands of secure text messages per month now drive overall organizational communication. “When we started using the solution and saw those quick response times, we realized that the app would help us save time, save lives, and help with patient safety,” says Alicia Wardlow, an RN focused on clinical informatics at Henry Community Health.
