Forms Modernisation

In this lab we will show you how forms and APEX have similarities making it a simpler transition. Test drive both DB-centric, SQL and PL/SQL based forms, utilising DB capabilities. See how APEX runs through a web browser, zero client-side tools and plugins.

This lab walks you through setting up Oracle Forms environment from Marketplace and Converting that into Oracle APEX application in Oracle Public Cloud Database Cloud Service where the Autonomous Database is not available. Oracle APEX Application enables you to develop responsive web applications at a much faster pace and helps you modernize your applications.

Outline:

  • Generate SSH Keys
  • Setup VCN
  • Configuring a Development System for Oracle Forms Application from Marketplace in OCI
  • Setup Oracle APEX in DBCS
  • Create Migration Project in Oracle APEX
  • Modernizing Customer Oracle Form to Oracle APEX Page

Prerequisites:

  • Experience working with Oracle Forms 11g/12c is required
  • Familiarity with Database is desirable, but not required
  • Familiarity with Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) is helpful
  • Experience working with Oracle Application Express is desirable
  • Bring a laptop to engage in activities
