With Oracle Human Capital Management Cloud, our HR function is able to manage the technology that supports our business units in a more efficient manner. We have eliminated paper processes for 5,000 employees, increased transparency, and reduced leave management from days to clicks.

Juhayna Improves Collaboration, Reduces Turnover, and Expands into New Markets with Oracle

Juhayna Food Industries is a leading Egypt-based manufacturer specialized in the production, processing, and packaging of dairy, juice, and cooking products. It has expanded its presence in the Middle East, through a combination of business and technical innovation and its firm commitment to delivering a wide range of high-quality, healthy, and safe products that have become trusted household names.

To support its continued growth and expansion into new markets in the African continent, Juhayna needed to streamline its human resources (HR) function, which was becoming increasingly overburdened with the administration of paper-based processes, from recruitment to talent management, across multiple sites.

Business Challenge
  • Reduce administrative burden on HR teams which previously used office spreadsheets and paper forms to manage leave for more than 5,500 employees
  • Enhance the HR function by empowering HR staff to spend more time supporting business leaders in their plans for expansion into new international markets and new food and drink product lines
  • Improve the talent acquisition process by reducing time to hire (TTH) and cost per hire (CPH) for more than 40 new local and expat employees each month across 7 production locations and multiple business units and support functions
  • Gain visibility into the workforce such as new hires, open vacancies, leave requests, resignations, and transfers across multiple locations
  • Enhance engagement and mobility for all employees by enabling them to rapidly request and receive approval for annual leave or business missions, or to easily view and apply for other positions within the organization
Results
  • Streamlined HR service delivery across recruitment, talent management, leave management, and HR business partner activities—leading to an increase in staff productivity by enabling each employee to focus on their core tasks of contributing to Juhayna’s corporate strategy
  • Increased employee engagement, HR efficiency, and productivity by enabling employee leave to be requested and approved in just a few clicks, whereas previously it could take up to a week using paper forms
  • Enabled HR teams to partner with business leaders and focus on talent management instead of spending 43% of their time on repetitive administrative tasks—such as manually administering thousands of employee leave requests per month
  • Reduced HR staff turnover with more efficient employee self-service, while entering new markets in East and West Africa
  • Reduced time-to-hire (TTH) for up to 80 new hires per month across several locations—by using automated processes to search for candidates and rank applicants in order of suitability according to job specifications
  • Reduced cost-per-hire (CPH) by enabling all local and expat candidates to apply online through Juhayna’s careers website, significantly reducing the company’s reliance on external staffing agencies, which are expected to be phased out in three years thanks to the creation of a rich internal talent pool
  • Improved strategic recruitment—by being able to rapidly gauge the numbers of applicants per job type or location, and the number of candidates that meet minimum job requirements—while also strengthening employer branding by sending automatic acknowledgement emails to each applicant
  • Strengthened the relationship between HR, IT, and various dairy and fruit juice lines of business across seven manufacturing locations by delivering an intuitive human capital management system in the cloud
  • Improved HR reporting by delivering anytime, anywhere, up-to-date analytics, for employee leave requests, hires, missions, resignations, and transfers for each month
  • Increased employee engagement for HR and non-HR staff alike by delivering a collaborative and mobile self-service HR platform for all Juhayna’s employees—demonstrating the company’s commitment to being a leading employer that invests in and values all staff, evidenced by a sizeable reduction in resignations since deployment
  • Ensured a smooth cloud deployment and rapid user adoption for more than 5,000 employees—made up of core factory production, distribution, and business support staff—by engaging an Oracle Customer Success Manager and by using My Oracle Support to resolve any technical issues arising

We selected Oracle Human Capital Management Cloud over SAP SuccessFactors predominantly because of Oracle’s more user-friendly interface, which was particularly important for the adoption by our non-technical factory employees. In addition, the price difference was quite compelling, as SAP was 10 times more expensive.
