To deliver what I promise, I need solid operational and technical support. In this sense, OCI has been a key partner. The impact for us is mainly in terms of credibility, as it allows us to sell and deliver our solutions on time, at the agreed price, and within the promised parameters.

Business Challenges

Brazil’s hospital sector is highly diverse, including vertical hospitals linked to health plan operators, independent hospitals, niche institutions (such as oncology or pediatrics), and general or surgical hospitals. Each model has specific administrative and operational demands.

Salux Technology, founded in 1997 in Rio Grande do Sul, develops innovative healthcare management solutions designed to meet these needs. Its broad portfolio ranges from electronic patient records to advanced business management tools. However, its software ran on its own local infrastructure, exposing the company to operational and availability risks and growing maintenance costs.

The management team began evaluating migration to the cloud, but the floods in Rio Grande do Sul accelerated the decision. Although Salux’s headquarters in Porto Alegre was not directly affected, surrounding areas were compromised, limiting access. The event made it clear that a cloud-based structure was urgently needed to ensure operational security and significantly reduce costs.

Salux chose Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) for its integration capabilities, operational security, scalability, and modularity.

Why Salux chose Oracle

Salux selected Oracle Cloud Infrastructure because its hospital management solutions already ran on Oracle Database, ensuring seamless integration and compatibility. The company also had Oracle specialists on its team, minimizing learning curves.

Operational security was another major differentiator — OCI provided a highly secure environment, eliminating the need for complex backup processes and disaster recovery infrastructure while offering high performance.

Scalability and modularity were also key. In large hospitals, demand can increase drastically during seasonal peaks. With on-premises architecture, infrastructure must be sized for peak load, leading to wasted resources the rest of the year. With OCI, resources can be scaled dynamically, activating during high demand and deactivating afterward — resulting in more efficient and cost-effective IT operations.

Results

Salux migrated its entire software portfolio and back-office operations to Oracle Cloud Infrastructure in less than 60 days. The company quickly began seeing benefits — most notably, an 80% reduction in IT infrastructure maintenance costs within the first year.

Project implementation also became faster. Previously, clients had to acquire their own servers to run the software, delaying go-lives. With OCI, Salux now delivers projects 20% faster, and clients no longer need to invest in hardware.

System availability increased from 94% to 99.9%, reducing operational risk. Developers can now replicate test environments in minutes, something previously constrained by limited internal storage and processing.

With workloads running on OCI, Salux integrated AI capabilities into its products. One innovation is Docli, a system that listens to conversations between doctors and patients and automatically fills out medical records, simplifying clinical routines.

Before migrating to the cloud, the company struggled to accurately measure the impact of new technologies, often over-allocating resources to guarantee performance — leading to inefficiency. OCI now enables real-time monitoring of system usage, allowing Salux to scale storage and compute capacity instantly when demand doubles, at lower cost and with greater agility.

This scalability ensures better management of the operational environment, greater solution security, and higher customer satisfaction.

Partners

The migration was supported by Oracle’s database and cloud computing specialists, who provided critical assistance in environment setup, database instance activation, and performance tuning. Their expertise ensured a smooth and precise migration, completed in under two months.
