Thailand—January 17, 2020
The Metropolitan Electrical Authority of Thailand (MEA), a state-owned energy utility group serving around 4 million customers in the city of Bangkok and two adjacent provinces, has today announced that it has selected Oracle to help it power its “Smart Metro Grid” project. In collaboration with Forth Corporation (Public) Co, Ltd. and YIP In Tsoi Co., Ltd., a Platinum level member of Oracle PartnerNetwork (OPN), the project aims to elevate the living standard for people living in Central Thailand (Bangkok, Nonthaburi, Pathumthani and Samutprakarn), by providing improved electricity services. By utilising Oracle Database, Middleware, Oracle SPARC servers and Oracle Utilities Software Solutions, MEA will gain a holistic view of real-time data that can be used to drive strategic decisions, lower costs and speed up internal processes. Additionally, residents can monitor their own electricity usage online via MEA’s Smart Grid Solution. The image was captured at the signing of the contract between MEA and Forth and Yip In Tsoi on 17 January 2020, at the MEA office. This is to mark the start of the collaboration between the parties to undertake the “Smart Metro Grid” project.
