New cloud agreement enables the UK Ministry of Defence (MoD) rapidly move legacy technology systems to OCI
London, UK—14 January 2026
Oracle today announced that it has signed a new cloud agreement with the UK Ministry of Defence (MoD). The agreement will enable the MoD to rapidly move legacy technology systems to Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI), supporting its modernisation objectives, adoption of new AI capabilities and more effective use of critical data to strengthen the UK’s national security.
As a world leader in defence, the MoD is focused on enhancing operational efficiency, improving decision-making capabilities, and effectively leveraging technology and data for national security. By becoming an AI-ready organisation and treating data as a strategic asset, the MoD aims to improve the effectiveness and agility of its global military operations while driving greater innovation across defence activities. As part of this effort, the MoD has signed a cloud agreement with Oracle, giving it access to OCI to support the modernisation and consolidation of legacy systems.
Victoria Cope, commercial director, Ministry of Defence “The OCI agreement strengthens the long standing strategic relationship between MoD and Oracle, and reflects the MoDs multi-vendor strategy to leverage the best available technologies to deliver operational outcomes and greater efficiency. This agreement also includes a commitment to digital skills development, education and social value investment supporting the wider Defence and UK Government agenda to build a digitally skilled workforce”.
Jason Rees, senior vice president of Technology Engineering, Oracle EMEA “The UK MoD is moving quickly to use data and AI in far more sophisticated ways to strengthen national security for UK citizens. Migrating workloads to Oracle Cloud Infrastructure will allow it to do this rapidly and at scale, without complicated and costly rewrites. The MoD will benefit from OCI’s in-built security and AI solutions, providing a resilient foundation for faster innovation, improved decision making and mission ready capabilities”.
