VM instances offer compute resources in many shapes, from a single OCPU to 24 OCPUs, catering to a variety of workloads and software architectures. All Oracle Cloud Infrastructure VM shapes support remote block storage. The dense I/O shapes also offer up to 25.6 TBs of local NVMe SSD storage for applications requiring low latency, millions of IOPS, and high local storage capacity.

Strong Isolation

VM instances run on the same type of servers as bare metal instances. Leverage the same cloud-optimized hardware, firmware, software stack, and networking infrastructure to deliver unrivaled performance and strong isolation. You can also run your VM Instances on a Dedicated VM Host, a physical server dedicated to your organization which provides the same isolation benefits of bare metal compute instances, but for your VM compute instances.

Dense IO

DenseIO virtual machine instances provide high-performance with large local Non-Volatile Memory Express (NVMe) Solid State Drive storage. DenseIO VMs are ideal for large databases and applications which require high-performance local storage.

Dense IO VMs are available in multiple configurations, or "shapes," enabling you to customize compute resources for your I/O- and storage-bound applications.
