In comparison to other vendors and solutions, Oracle Database Appliance came across as the most efficient and cost-effective hardware platform for running our databases and applications.
The migration was undertaken by initially creating a test environment, installing Oracle Database Appliance and database template, creating a virtual machine, and then migrating Oracle Database and Oracle Forms and Reports. Since the database server and the application server were installed on the same machine, there were some code compatibility aspects during the process that required customization. The deployment was undertaken in 50 working days, with no special training needed for the company’s 300 users.
General Petroleum Company worked with Oracle Partner Technical Professional Service (TPS) who provided the most cost-effective option. TPS supplied the hardware and software and performed the migration of Oracle Database and Oracle Forms and Reports. TPS also provided support during the process and for one month after the implementation of Oracle Database Appliance.
