Overview

Realistic Icons share the perspective, light source & palette of the Rich Icons. Their representation is not stylistically restricted by structural constraints. The primary goal is to provide a realistic representation of the metaphor that is true to the material attributes of the object that is being rendered.

The design treatment of Realistic Icons should be visually compelling and clearly communicate the action that it represents. The treatment given to the icon should ensure that the meaning is easily understood and enhance the overall user experience.

This style of the icon is best viewed at the largest sizes and therefore rarely referenced within the Alta UI and Brand Expression. The Mono Color and Full Palette Icons Style are more condusive and a better choice of reference for the various Type of icons represented within the Alta UI.

Size Constraints

Given the level of detail, they are ideally suited for larger icons sizes and therefore are restricted to dashboard type icon usage. To maximise the benifit of the style and visual effects, you should focus on keeping these icons as large as possible. The recommended Icon sizes for the Rich Icons Style are 96x96, 128x128, 256x256 pixel icons and larger.
