What's New in Oracle Enterprise Pack for Eclipse 11gR1 (11.1.1.8)

Oracle Enterprise Pack for Eclipse (OEPE) 11.1.1.8 is a major release with new features and functionality for Oracle ADF, Oracle Coherence, and Oracle Public Cloud development. Feature details can be found below:

Support for ADF Task Flows and Libraries

Oracle Enterprise Pack for Eclipse 11.1.1.8 includes new features to improve ADF Task Flow and ADF Library development in Eclipse.

  • New wizards for ADF Task Flows make it easy to create Bounded and Unbounded Task Flows.
  • A new Task Flow Editor offers the choice of drag and drop-based visual flow development, form based configuration, and source code development with content assist and syntax highlighting.
  • Drag and drop to bind Task Flows to page ADF Regions.
  • AppXRay collection and validation of Task Flow Artifacts.
  • Export ADF projects to ADF Libraries.

ADF Lifecycle Debugging

The Eclipse Debugger has been enhanced to support ADF Application Debugging.

  • Place breakpoints on ADF Faces components, ADF Task Flows, and application business logic to step into code execution and analyze variables.
  • An ADF Lifecycle view enables debugging before and after each ADF lifecyle event executes.
  • ADF Data and Structure views provide sorting by scope and page structure.
  • A new EL Evaluator editor enables development and testing of EL expressions against the live, running application.

AppXRay-driven Refactoring

AppXRay dependency tracking extends Eclipse refactoring to support web and enterprise application projects and artifacts. Refactor page expression language, resource bundles, ADF Faces and ADF Task Flow definitions, JSF configurations, and more.

Oracle Coherence Cache Configuration

Oracle Enterprise Pack for Eclipse 11.1.1.8 includes a new editor for Coherence Cache Configuration. The Cache Configuration Editor includes form-based and source based editing, configuration wizards, validation, suggested default values, and context sensitive help for all elements in a cache configuration file.

Cache configurations can be integrated into existing Oracle Coherence runtime configurations to run and debug from within Eclipse.

Oracle Public Cloud Tools

New design time and deployment tools are included for the upcoming Oracle Public Cloud.

  • Create projects and server configurations for the Oracle Public Cloud service.
  • Develop web applications to run and deploy to the cloud.
  • Check cloud server runtime and deployment logs in new log viewers.
  • Test applications before deployment with integrated whitelist scans. Whitelist tools support as-you-type validation, project build validation, and on demand scans to highlight coding violations. Errors are reported in application source, the Problems view, and a new Whitelist violations view.
  • Access the Oracle Public Cloud administrative consoles directly from within Eclipse.
