Sun Download Center Changes



What is being announced?



The purpose of this announcement is to help guide customers to the appropriate Oracle websites from which Sun software and firmware may be downloaded.

The Sun Download Center was decommissioned on July 31, 2011.  Customers looking for Sun downloads should visit one of the following Oracle websites:

Oracle Software Delivery Cloud (https://edelivery.oracle.com) for downloading separately licensed software products
Oracle Technology Network (http://otn.oracle.com) for downloading  software for development
My Oracle Support (https://support.oracle.com) for downloading hardware related downloads and software product patches and updates

 

Please refer to the appropriate section below for additional information.

Hardware Related Downloads



Hardware related downloads includes firmware, drivers, bios, system controllers, ALOM, ILOM, diagnostics and other hardware dependent software.

Customers with the appropriate entitlement will find hardware related downloads on My Oracle Support.  To find your downloads:

1.  Sign in to My Oracle Support.
2. Click the "Patches & Updates" tab.
3.  In the "Patch Search" box on the right side, select "Product or Family (Advanced Search)".
4.  Enter a partial product name for "Product is".  A list of matches will be displayed.  Select the product of interest.
5.  Select one or more releases in the "Release is" drop down and close the pop-up window.
6.  Click Search.  A list of product downloads (listed as patches) will be displayed.  Select the download of interest.  This will take you to the Download Information Page.
7.  Select the Download button to initiate the download.

Software Product Downloads



Software products refer to major, minor and update releases as well as service packs made available in the form of a full distribution that can be used for new installations or upgrade of existing software installations.

Customers can download the latest commercial releases of separately licensed software products from Oracle Software Delivery Cloud.

Developers can download most of the latest Sun software products from the Oracle Technology Network.

Oracle will continue to provide supported customers with self-service access to download some of our historical Sun software product releases. Customers should consult the Sun Archive (My Oracle Support Doc 1302856.1) for the list of Sun software products that are available for download.

If you are looking for a Sun software product that is not available on Oracle Software Delivery Cloud, Oracle Technology Network or the Sun Archive, please contact Oracle Global Customer Support.

Java and Developer Tools Downloads



Java, developer tools, documentation and other development resources can be downloaded from the Oracle Technology Network.

Oracle will continue to provide the Java community with self-service access to download some of our historical Java releases. Customers should consult the Oracle Java Archive for the list of Java releases that are available for download.

If you are looking for a Java release that is not available in the Java Software Archive, please contact Oracle Global Customer Support.


Software Patches and Updates



A patch is an accumulation of fixes to a known problem or a potential problem that can only be applied to an existing software installation.  An update is an accumulation of fixes and minor enhancements that can only be applied to an existing software installation.

Customers with the appropriate entitlement will find software patches and updates on My Oracle Support.  To find your downloads:

1.  Sign in to My Oracle Support.
2. Click the "Patches & Updates" tab.
3.  In the "Patch Search" box on the right side, select "Product or Family (Advanced Search)".
