This page includes resources to help you learn about best practices for support, patching, troubleshooting, and training.
Phase 4: Post-Upgrade
After upgrading to the Solaris 10 OS, be sure you understand the available support options and you maintain support contracts to help meet targeted service levels. See the Solaris Subscriptions web site for more information.
You should also be well-versed in procedures for applying recommended patches. A free online course with Sam the Sysadmin, Solaris 10 Patching Best Practices (WS-2700-S10), is a good starting point for novice and intermediate sysadmins. In addition, the BigAdmin Patching Center for Solaris consolidates a number of patching-related resources.
Training courses, described on the Sun training web site, can help you take full advantage of new Solaris 10 OS features, including Solaris Containers as well as system management, network, and security enhancements. Be sure to examine the recommended course list for experienced Solaris 10 system administrators. This course list includes several offerings to help system administrators with troubleshooting, including a class on using Solaris DTrace to help diagnose performance issues on production systems.
