Oracle Expands R&D Capabilities in Morocco

Oracle today unveiled a new research and development (R&D) centre in Casablanca to fast-track innovation across its rapidly growing cloud and AI solutions. Equipped with state-of-the-art technologies, the new Oracle R&D centre will employ 1000 Moroccan IT professionals. The new centre was inaugurated by Mr. Aziz Akhannouch, Head of Government of the Kingdom of Morocco, and Mrs. Amal El Fallah Seghrouchni, Minister of Digital Transition and Administration Reform.

"Establishing the Oracle R&D centre in Morocco reinforces that Morocco is a key player in digital innovation. It can compete with global powers thanks to its local talents, skilled youth, and a rapidly maturing ecosystem. Morocco asserts its technological leadership in support of its own development and that of the continent."– Amal El Fallah Seghrouchni, Minister of Digital Transition and Administration Reform.

Oracle R&D Centre Attracts Top Moroccan Talent

Researchers at the Casablanca facility are using Oracle’s cloud infrastructure, AI, and machine learning technologies to develop solutions that will play a significant role in the evolution of modern businesses and society. The new centre in Casablanca aligns with Oracle’s agreement with the Ministry of Digital Transition and Administration Reform, Government of Morocco to boost R&D capabilities in the country.

The facility is designed to offer a highly collaborative and productive environment and is spread across seven ergonomically designed floors featuring modern infrastructure including an auditorium, a restaurant, two gyms (for men and women), innovative meeting space, and prayer rooms.

The Oracle R&D centre is actively engaging with top institutions in Morocco to onboard hundreds of local engineering graduates as interns. Last year, 94 percent of eligible interns were offered full-time roles on the R&D team.

“Establishing a new Oracle R&D centre in Morocco reflects our commitment to innovation and inclusion—leveraging the country’s growing tech talent and strategic location to build cutting-edge solutions for Africa, the Middle East, and beyond,” said Craig Stephen, executive vice president, Oracle.

Oracle Plans to Open Two Public Cloud Regions in Morocco

Oracle is rapidly establishing a robust ecosystem in Morocco to help accelerate the region’s digital economy. In addition to the new R&D centre, Oracle has also announced plans to establish two public cloud regions in Morocco. These public cloud regions will offer enterprise cloud services to local and regional organizations across Africa.

The upcoming new regions will enable Oracle customers and partners to migrate mission-critical workloads from their data centers to Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI), while helping them comply with local regulations. As a result, customers and partners can access a wide range of cloud and AI services to modernize their applications and innovate with AI, data, and analytics.

The planned public cloud regions in Casablanca and Settat underscore Oracle’s commitment to Africa and will help drive the digital transformation of enterprises, startups, universities, and investors in Morocco and across the region.
