The Oracle Cloud and Microsoft Azure Interconnect provides organizations with a simple migration path to a multicloud environment that includes Oracle Database capabilities such as Oracle Exadata Database Service, Autonomous Database, and MySQL Heatwave. Customers can innovate using the best of Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) and Microsoft Azure with seamless interoperability. This low-latency, private connection between two leading cloud providers brings flexible innovation while maximizing return on investment. Interconnect pricing is port-based and there are no additional charges for bandwidth consumed.
Larry Ellison and Satya Nadella have launched Oracle Database Service for Microsoft Azure, bringing the enterprise-grade performance, availability, and automation of Oracle Database to Azure customers.
Learn how organizations use multiple cloud vendors to access best-in-class capabilities and reduce costs.
Carl Olofson, lead IDC database analyst, provides an analysis of Oracle’s multicloud strategy and concludes that “Oracle and Microsoft have provided a solution that is intended to offer enterprises a way to achieve multicloud freedom.”
Learn about the most common criteria to evaluate when selecting a cloud provider to deploy Oracle workloads.
“Oracle and Microsoft have many mutual customers across all verticals. With the partnership and interconnect, joint customers can migrate their workloads to Oracle Cloud Infrastructure(OCI) and Microsoft Azure without the need for complex re-architecture or re-platforming.”
Innovate using the best combination of Oracle’s and Microsoft’s cloud services based on their features, performance, and pricing.
Use a direct Interconnect between OCI and Microsoft Azure that provides <2ms latency for superior multicloud network performance.
Maximize application performance by connecting directly to Oracle Autonomous Database, Exadata Database Service, and MySQL HeatWave environments in OCI.
Run applications, including Oracle E-Business Suite, on OCI with distributed data stores on OCI and Microsoft Azure.
Globally available cloud infrastructure
OCI is available in 39 regions globally, including 11 Azure Interconnect regions.
Zero data ingress/egress charges can provide significant cost savings.
Integra LifeSciences uses the Interconnect to transfer terabytes of data nightly.
Joint support model
Supported by both OCI and Microsoft Azure.
By using Oracle FastConnect and Azure ExpressRoute, customers can seamlessly build a private interconnection between their OCI and Microsoft Azure environments. The Interconnect also enables joint customers to take advantage of a unified identity and access management platform that leads to cost savings. Cloud engineers can set up SSO between Microsoft Azure and OCI for their Oracle applications, such as PeopleSoft, JD Edwards EnterpriseOne, and E-Business Suite. Having a federated SSO makes the integration seamless and allows users to authenticate only once to access multiple applications, without signing in separately to access each application.
With Oracle Azure Interconnect, customers have access to tested, validated, and supported deployments for packaged, cloud native, custom, and third-party applications to assist with ongoing innovation while leveraging existing environments. The traffic between Azure and Oracle Cloud flows directly through the private physical connection with round-trip latency of under 2 ms. Customers can further restrict the flow of traffic by using network security groups (NSGs) and security lists.
Oracle Cloud and Microsoft Azure Interconnect offers a seamless issue resolution process that can be initiated through Microsoft or Oracle when an issue is encountered. For customers who have Oracle software licenses and support, Oracle delivers support directly to customers who are running Oracle software on Windows Server Hyper-V and Microsoft Azure. As additional services are launched as a result of this partnership, more details will be shared on the support model.
To enable customers to deploy an effective DR architecture, Oracle is working towards providing more than one Interconnect region in each geography, such as US East and US West in North America. Every Interconnect circuit (ExpressRoute and FastConnect) comes with a redundant circuit on the same POP but different physical router, providing high availability.
